"Manabi Straight" and "Lucky Star" both follow a new trend. Younger-looking girls (who are actually their age, but are intentionally made to look cute) in a High School setting. While both shows are focused on High School ups and downs, "Straight" is more focused on the challenges of running a Student Council and "Lucky Star" focuses on most aspects of High School in Japan. Aya Hirano also does a voice work in both shows.
"Sugar" has a cute protagonist who is somewhat of a brat. This series is A LOT less Otaku-oriented than "Potemayo" and is one of the very few Anime series out there that is appropriate for any age. In other words, it's very much like a G-Rated movie.
It is pretty much a prerequisite if you want to get a lot of enjoyment out of the series. Otherwise, these jokes will be lost. Watching other KyoAni titles would help, but not really necessary. |
