I sent a rather lengthy message to your email address, but I don't know if you got it or not. So just let me know if you didn't get it!

Haha, wow, you got it right! What did you think of Christoph even though he didn't show up for very long in the show?
I'm so happy to know you're at least okay! Actually, I was kind of getting more and more worried over time! I thought maybe you decided to move onto bigger and better things than the internet, and I felt crappy I had never managed to ask you for your cell phone number before you disappeared to do other things!
Well, I guess the biggest thing that's happening to me is that I'll be moving to Minnesota for at least 3 months or so starting this April. Despite knowing that there will be some much needed changes coming soon, I slept for what feels like nearly two days straight this week, so I have no clue what that says about me. But I know that I feel generally miserable that I have almost no connection with people at the moment either, and this is hopefully the lowest I've ever been in life and ever will be in life...*fingers crossed*
I wish I could say I had a good Christmas, but I had the flu, which was the worst thing ever! I hope your Christmas & New Year was much better than mine!

Oh wow! Is the song "Cannot Hear" your favorite song on the OST, too? I think it's my favorite song in the series, so I think it's an amazing coincidence that you posted it.
I feel like that song really tore me on the inside because everybody forgot about the whole massacre in the mansion for 10 years or so, the twins and their mother were neglected on top of that, and everything was tinged in lies, injustice, and propaganda.
So, what did you think of Johan and Anna/Nina's relationship? Unfortunately, I call it probably one of the most unintentionally creepy and disturbing relationships I've ever seen.
Haha, no, I do not roleplay Johan roleplaying Johan. I guess I should give you another hint. Ahem, he is a creepy young man who is trying to follow in Johan's footsteps who is not Johan.
Sometimes I've said things that sounded just like what any of the characters might say in their worst moments, so I've sworn to myself that I would try my best to never say things like that again...
...which would be a fantastic resolution, except I am supposed to say awful things all the time in my role play...bummer. So yeah, playing nihilistic roles breaks people's backs I'm telling you.
I thought Lunge kicked so much ass, and if he had gotten the chance to face Johan one on one, oh man. People seem to think that Johan is much smarter than everybody, but I think I might put my money on Lunge...
Haha, I cannot seem to stop thinking, writing, or talking about this show, darn it.

By golly gosh, I think you've nailed it! I guess Johan is almost like a Frankenstein type of creation or at least that's the feeling I get sometimes when I think of the types of experimentation employed on the children who were part of the experiments. It's especially sad how damaged he is overall, especially when you make sense of what happens in the last episode.
Well, anyway, if you really really like "Monster," I would recommend reading the follow up manga called "Another Monster" that helps make certain events in the show make better sense, and you get to find out more about the characters' fates post series.
Also, I would recommend taking a look at fuckyeahjohanliebert's Tumblr page, since this person is very good at pointing out factual errors or screw ups in the series and pointing out any possible symbolism. The same Tumblr page has many other interesting things to share, since the Monster fandom is quite strong and speculative.
In fact, I am role playing one character from the show at the moment, but I bet you'll never be able to guess which one I'm playing. I guess I should give you a clue then...the person I role play acts much like Johan.
One more thing, you are AWESOME for liking Lunge so much! He's my second favorite character just behind Johan. It's unfortunate because many people in the fandom don't like Lunge very much at all!

I've definitely been meaning to watch "Mononoke," but I'm still not sure whether I should watch "Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror" first or "Mononoke" first? This is the only reason I haven't started either show yet...

Oh wow, I can't believe you're almost done with "Monster"! It took me almost a year to finish the show, since I went at the pace of 1-2 episodes a week. So, I must ask, do you feel any sympathy at all for Johan yet? Oh yeah, I must ask which character do you think is the oddest (has the weirdest mannerisms, attitude, lifestyle, etc.) of them all?

Or wait...was Kenji part of the yakuza or something? I thought I saw a huge tattoo on his back at one point in the movie just like his brother's tattoo.

I watched the movie, and you're right! I enjoyed it so much! I thought I wouldn't like it based on the really cold and emotionless segment before the title, and I thought I wouldn't like the two main characters at all...
...Yet I completely fell in love with them, and how they were perfect for each other in the most uncanny, depressingly humorous ways. I thought it was fascinating how often times the way they reacted to situations were nothing like how I would have reacted if I were them.
I thought for sure Kenji was going to get himself killed at the end, and I even feared Noi was going to get killed boarding the plane. So, I thought the ending was brilliant because it made me feel VERY afraid they were going to die, but all of that fear amounted to nothing!
Whew, what a great subversion of all my expectations this film is! Thanks for recommending it! I never ever would have tried this movie if you didn't recommend it because I probably would have expected it to either be way too trippy, unfunny, or confusing or something like that. I was surprised the two main characters spoke in English most of the time throughout the movie, but I found it really endearing.
Oh yeah, I also found it kind of funny and depressing at the same time that Kenji finally found the perfect thing to kill himself slowly with...cigarettes unless I misinterpreted the ending.

Oh, this seems rather silly, but it somewhat pisses me off that David Sylvian's profile picture on MyAnimeList will not show up no matter what I do. I tried submitting new images in hopes of rectifying this seemingly minor issue, but it still won't fix the broken image.

Hmm, I'll have to give it a shot one of these days. One review I read on IMDB said it is confusing at some points, but the reviewer said to ignore the confusing bits. May I ask how did you come across this movie? Is the movie scary in any way? I think I saw blood all over the walls in the trailer, so I have no idea what to make of that.
Ah, whew, that's a relief. I thought you deleted your profile for good, and I was afraid I would never get to have one of those amusingly off the wall chats with you ever again.

Since this is perhaps the only website I can casually comment you, I hope you don't mind my rather casual comment. I'm curious since you seem to know quite a bit about movies, have you ever seen the movie called "Toys"? I saw the very low rating on IMDB, yet it seems plenty of people deem it one of the most underrated movies of all time. However, a good number of people also deem it one of the worst movies of all time, which confuses me greatly which one is more accurate. I'm definitely wary of the claim that it's a masterpiece, but I get the feeling I might like it.
