I like your reviews, keep the spirit
arcunhacked Mar 7, 2012 10:41 PM
(1) " No, I'm not some illogical retard who loves Twilight or crap like that, I'm pretty much one who has logic, in all seriousness I love logic."

- In the end, all you did was poison the well, appeal to people and assume without proof. All of it are fallacies. And that does not at all qualify as a sound argument. In other words, your argument is invalid.

(2) "When you see me posting illogical stuff and me not admitting it, then I was either a) trolling or b) being drunk (I tend to lose myself when it's really late or really early in the morning but not drink beer drunk)."

- And again, it's an appeal to people. You should not have, at least, mentioned this so we won't have an impression of your schizophrenic tendencies of rambling invalid arguments.

(3) "I'm pretty much one who has logic"

- I strongly doubt that.

***********************************************

PS (an advice actually): Refrain from calling yourself a "logical person". It really makes you look more idiotic---considering the most basic fallacies you keep on committing. :)

Good review on Kanamemo. I like how you displayed your opinion on the characters.
DarcyD Sep 25, 2009 6:58 PM
Your review for Kanamemo sucked, and I'll tell you why, and unlike you, I'll say it in less words.

1.) You didn't have full knowledge and what you didn't immediately catch from the 3 episodes you saw, you used your opinion to fill in the blanks. WRONG. Reviewers should never do that, because it causes problems, as you will see in the my second point. I strongly suggest you go back and fix the actual REVIEW instead of adding things about what people have said on your COMMENTS. Reviews are for the purpose of explaining the anime, not for crying about what someone said to you earlier.

2.) You barely, if at all, talked about the anime. You shared your opinion. You shared your opinion on slice-of-life anime, moe scenes, how you think the art should've been made, yuri and HOMOSEXUALITY in general, and things of that nature.
WRONG.
Your job was not to tell people you didn't like yuri, that you personally didn't like the way Saki was created, that you didn't like Haruka's antics, because NO ONE CARES. You need to stick to the anime, opinions are for message boards, THAT'S where you complain about yuri, art, and drunk lesbians, not when you're describing the anime because in truth, you're not describing the anime, you're describing your opinions on it and could be potentially turning people off an anime that THEY might enjoy, even though you might not. Recognize your power you have as a reviewer.

And lastly, my final reason.

3.) DON'T WRITE FOR AN ANIME YOU DON'T PERSONALLY ENJOY. What are you, 12? You like to watch gay animes and then complain about each and every character as if they could hear you? Please. Grow up. If you don't like yuri, don't watch it. If you don't like the art, don't watch it. If you don't like the anime, DON'T REVIEW IT.

How much simpler can I get with this?

Take this as a flame if you will, be please be prepared for these kinds of things when you post your opinions where no one wishes to read them.

Well, every day is a Straight Pride parade. If you really think about it. Until the gays feel as comfortable, and loved and accepted and "normal" as every one else, I say let them do what they must.

Hmmm, you are right, but most slice of life take the direction of romance as well. Yuri is a genre that also leads to romance. So ultimately it goes:

slice of life ----> romance

yuri ----> romance

As for Kanamemo:

slice of life ----> yuri ----> romance (to some degree)

If I were a kid and I saw anybody kissing, regardless of gender, it'd be a gross experience for me.

I've seen many of my girl friends kiss each other on the lips as I got older, and it never once bothered me.

PDA for me is just irksome, so it doesn't matter who is doing it, honestly. What is a "normal" person, btw? Are you suggesting that gay people are abnormal?

A normal person for me is someone who is a human being and not made up of animal parts. A normal person is someone who follows the laws of the land and is not a deviant and who is not crazy. That's normal. Gay, straight, bi--whatever, it's normal to me.

I don't know about you, but even seeing other heterosexual people kissing in public makes me want to gag and tell them to get a room. So I'd say that's the only uncomfortable thing there.
xanusuri Jul 24, 2009 12:02 AM
I know there are 3 episodes out. I had watched them all before making that comment. I'm talking about what you said in the review. They weren't good reviews because they had made reviews after only watching 1-2 eps.

And about not meaning to write a full review. The first paragraph you wrote said get ready for a thousand word essay...which says you were planning on giving a big review anyways.

I didn't say it was a bad review - I haven't even fully read it yet, I was just stating the reason why there were two crappy reviews out there and that you can't really write a review or rate something until you've seen it all the way through.
Skadi Jul 23, 2009 4:23 AM
I like yuri but Im not a crazy fangirl or anything. I really dont care what other people think. :P

I personally have a peeve about reviews written before a show is finished, I unhelpful ever one I see. It could be War and Peace in its literary quality and I still would vote against it. I just dont think you can be fair without having the entire story. I have seen too many shows I liked only to be angered or disappointed by the ending or lack of ending. (all too common in anime :P)

If you are really serious about writing reviews, I suggest you read some and get some ideas. I write them too so I obviously have some prejudices on how they should be written but I am not egotistical enough to think my way is the only way. You have to develop your own style but you need to keep your thoughts tight and stay on task and not ramble. I felt you rambled on too much in that review and visually it was difficult to read because of the way it was laid out. I know what your saying about having this large paragraphs, those are difficult to read as well. Thats what I mean about staying on task and keeping your thoughts tight.

Well those are just my opinions and you can take it for what its worth. I like to think I know what I am talking about but I am blonde... :o
xanusuri Jul 22, 2009 6:43 PM
The reason there isn't a decent review on Kanamemo is because there was only 2 eps out. Any decent reviewer waits until the series is over.
Skadi Jul 22, 2009 2:38 PM
Your Kanamemo review is a mess. I give you credit for atleast trying to write something of substance unlike the tools who write 2 sentences. I hope you will accept some constructive criticism.

1) the reason there are not any good reviews is the show isnt finished yet. Thats your first mistake, wait until its over. You cant fairly judge something that isn't complete. If you want to give your opinions you should make use of the forums.

2) Your thoughts or to disjointed and difficult to read. Combine them up into larger paragraphs about related subject matter. You also dont need to go down the list and give information our like who the seiyuu are for every character, we can see that on the anime profile page

3) What does MOHS2 Endless Eight have to do with Kanamemo?

4) You spend too much time ranting about homosexuals or defending yourself from peoples comments. I think you can talk about social issues when they are pertinent to the review. I havent seen the show yet so I dont know how much of the story is about yuri. I thought it was a slice of life in which a couple of the characters were gay.

I dont really care whether or not your are a homophobe or what. You can be whatever you wish. You say you arent I believe you. You can take my words however you wish. I unhelpful voted your review mainly because you didnt wait for it to be finished but also because it is very difficult to read.
It’s time to ditch the text file.
