About rabbitpoets
I was never a huge anime fan growing up. I'd seen the famous movies like Akira, Ghost in the Shell, the Ghibli movies (Princess Mononoke, especially), and I was a big fan of animation in general, particularly the Dini/Timm DC universe, but I was never really hooked on it.

Then back in the summer 2007, I read a description for an anime called "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya" that I thought sounded interesting. So I downloaded with the intent to watch it on a rainy day. I didn't get around to watching it for a few months. But once I started it, I was hooked. And next thing you know, here I am. Thank God for the Internet, eh?

I like most genres, and I'll watch almost anything with a good plot and good characters, but I tend to be a particular fan of action/dramas with a good mix of comedy, slice of life shows, and straight-up comedies with a slightly romantic bent (though preferably not harems). The genres that I don't particularly enjoy are overly dramatic romances (Kyo/Key-ani, I'm looking at you), yaoi and obviously anything with a sucky plot, or crappy characters.

I don't necessarily accept random friend requests out of the blue, but I love chatting about shows and stuff, so feel free to stop by and say hello.

Nah, she didn't use red in the first arc. I saw her say that in the game version I don't remember about the anime.

Remember how Battler was just happy to start the name game in the third arc? Well, he was being toyed with by the seven stakes after the second game ended (not as good as it seems like tho) so much that he was torn apart and wasn't even recognizable and Beatrice had to restored his body only so he could get horribly killed again. Battler enjoys being tortured too much imo lol. Aside from a few things I like how they're animating the game now. The first arc was terribly but it's pretty good now.

Now if Battler would be the culprit then it would explain a lot of things in the show. But it still wouldn't explain why he has blue eyes in the anime instead of brown or black like in the game.

Yes, that group of six is suspicous.
Let's see first arc : all parents are dead except Natsuhi
Second arc : all parents are killed except Rosa
Third arc : all parents are murdered except Eva?

The thing is that Beatrice said in red that they were all dead (like really dead) unless... they were already dead to being with? I'm just playing with words. I don't know it's possible.

The ones that always die are Battler's dad, Kyrie, Krauss, Eva and Hideyoshi. Beatrice just doesn't like them! Servants are always the ones who discover the bodies and the ones who already knew about Beatrice. But wait, we're forgetting about doctor Nanjo. I bet he was sued by malpratice and that's why he needs the money. Who in their right mind would spend that much time with Kinzo? Grrrr. it cannot be Rosa ~uu! I'll trick you.

Gohda might be in fact working for Beatrice. He's got real acting skils I'll give him that. The other guy I don't trust is George.. playing all dumb and wearing glasses. What's worse.. he wears a yellow/banana suit. I bet he isn't even near sighted. He's got tons of money and doesn't get contact lens. Suspicious, suspicious.. too suspicious man. My other suspect is Maria' purse. That thing has always been there the whole time. I'm not being paranoid. It's the truth!

zilch | 09-25-09, 9:12 PM
Kumazawa, man. Freaking Kumazawa. Who saw that one coming? Of all people. Now I'm starting to think that even Gohda might a demon or something else.

Sweet! Oh, man it's over. I'm going to miss it :(

I've never met someone in real life that I only knew on the internet. That all seems kind of weird to me.

Haven't seen Pani Poni Dash I'm afraid. The closest I've seen to it would be Seto no Hanayome with a bit of FLCL, except even weirder.

Yep, one of the stories is about a girl who lived in a nearby town of Hinamizawa who was also suffers Oyashiro-sama wraths. The other one is set in a parallel world twenty years after the ending of the first season. It’s the ending (one of the many!) where everyone dies because of the gas leak originated by Tokyo. The main character is Mion/Shion (it isn’t clear until you finish the manga) in her forties. She became something like a samurai (not kidding you) and she's looking for something. A boy who looks like Satoshi and a group of people encounter this person who is supposed to be dead when they set foot in the now deserted Hinamizawa... then people start dying. So yes, they are alternate endings to some of the arcs of the anime. Those are the ones I know of. Maybe the game has even more.

Yotsuba, SNM? What’s this? You’re reading manga? I don’t believe it! ;D

Bakemonogatari is a good show. Sometimes it’s too damn good. The Senjougahara moments are so ridiculously well done that they alone deserve my respect. In each episode there’s a moment I go what’s this I don’t even! :D I think I might end up giving Bake a rating +8. Senjougahara fascination!

There really was some backlash about that. I think it was about some real killer loli being psycho for real. She happened to have Higurashi in her anime collection so they blame it on that (wtf?) That’s the reason why they took out the machete that appears in the KAI OP and replace it for some random shot. Pretty silly I know. I like my killer lolis to be 2-D only.

Since we have a better understating of what type of shows each of us like I think it’ll be easier to pick a few of our lists. It’s still interesting how often we think alike when it comes to anime. Sometimes I don’t have to even tell you because you already figured it out even your takes on a show are fairly similar to mine. I was reminded of this after I read your last umineko post as I was thinking the same thing you said. I went how did you..? In fact, I'm ready to post what I think about the my impressions of that show, assuming that this arc ends this week. It's a very long read explaining how I feel about the "Higurashi's succesor" and where this show might be going. Hmm, unless your secret is that you posses ESP. That's how you know ;D Ok, what am I thinking right now? It really isn't Rena. It really isn't.

5camp | 09-08-09, 1:32 AM
Hare Guu is one of the wackiest, wildest anime comedies in existance. I'm always a bit surprised that it doesn't get more exposure when you consider how high it's rated. For an anime made in 2001 to still be in the top 200 is quite the achievement. Whether you'll like it or not...well, comedy is very subjective. It's full of really random shit and it's all a bit trippy but if you like the first 2 episodes, you'll like the rest.

The ending song to the OVA. That should give you a better feel for the show then any review I could give

What's even weirder is to find people you know in real life on MAL.Real people aren't allowed to exist on the internet!

5camp | 09-07-09, 5:27 AM
Hey cool! When I actually bothered my arse to search around MAL a bit, I find the bloggers I read.

Errr...I'm not very good with starting random conversations on the internet so hi..and stuff

Time to break the piggy bank. Here, I’m also hoping that the prices aren’t too outrageous either. I love Higurahi but I'm not rich like the Arima. Oh yeah, I hear that there are a few arcs that never made it into the anime. I know for a fact that there are stories that never made it to the anime (manga only). Maybe someone will license the ds games some day? I can image seeing Higurashi in stores hanging on the wall. Here’s a scary thought: Higurashi on national TV. I bet the whole media would gang up on them. This show is dan-ge-rous to teh children. The world isn’t ready yet. Why is Japan so awesome?
I meant to ask you about the summer. Hehe, I guess my subsconcious wanted to ask you about the fall too. Even though the fall was the best season of 2008, this fall is just horrible. So many fail shows that it’ll be easier to tell you what I won’t be watching instead. It’s kinda sad that my choice is also Railgun. You know that things are looking bad when a supporting characters from a semi mediocre show are getting their own show. I haven’t finished Indexsu either (I don’t know if I’ll ever will) Hey, I’m all for anime nuns you know but TAMI was painful to watch—or read to be precise. You should’ve given it an award for shut the hell up show of the fall or maybe you did I don't know :p I take it it’s safe to skip Index and just watch Railgun?

Hmm, I thought your favorite was going to be Spice and Wolf 2. I guess that you weren't too thriled by the long first arc of the series, that's understanable. I suppose that my favorite is Bakemonogatari but I might be a bit biased. I love the monologues in that show.

In case that the Fall sucks even more than we can image (if that's possible) I can always recommend you a couple of good shows that will surely keep you entertained. Your list is missing some great shows :( Yeah, I guess mine too.

I get what you mean. Rei “pretty” animation does take away some of the creepiness that characterizes Higurashi. The first season got away with bad animation because they made those grotesque facial distortions even scarier. Remember Shion arc? Her face scared the crap out of me. It makes Umineko seems too pretty right now.

Yes, mangagamer (sound vn company) will license the pc games so we will be able to purchase them and play them in English! The whole game! I’m glad that someone has finally taken interest in Japanese visual novels and even more in Higurashi. When they cry will be known even more in the world than it is now.

So what' s your favorite show of the Fall? You can only choose one.

zilch | 08-30-09, 6:23 AM
I know! No REI so far. The must be waiting for the Blue-Ray version or something :(
I've been meaning to rewatch my top 3 anime for some time. I still remember how I felt the first time I watched Higurashi--everything was eerie even the seemingly normal conversations were enough to make you paranoid, I miss Keichi. The most interesting thing aside from the mystery was guessing who was going to go Higurashi crazy each arc and who was going to really "get it".

Higurashi was the best work that Chiaki Kon did. My only complain about Higurashi was the animation but that wasn't her fault. Up to the moment, I thought she was a guy until I saw the picture. I fail. Btw, the pc games has been licensed and will be released in October by Mangagamer. Now, that's a game I want to buy :D

So Sighs of Haruhi Suzumiya is here. We're back to the first episode now? I'm confused then again this show was never that easy to understand. What did you think of the "first" episode, RP?

zilch | 08-07-09, 10:48 PM
B-B-But E8 is Endless! I don't doubt they might've not thought about that. Funny, how they purposely chose dates that are more or less important to me and turn it into this. I used to like August so much. I still think that Yamamoto's statement had to do with Kyoani stopping E8. We'll never know for sure.

P.S It says that you were online 9 hours ago. It should've been eight just for the sake of it lol
