Well, mainly cuz I cudnt focus on the story so I went for art, Ill rewatch it, because at the time I did I had my grandma and mom looking over my shoulder pestering me so it took away from the story :/

Eh, it made sense to me, I watched Ayakashi before hand tho, when they introduced Kisuriuri so I guess that helped me make more sense of it. It think of it just like short stories from the diary of a medicine seller. There's more black people, like the black girl from Ayakashi is in it again and she looks fine. But yeah I agree they kinda made the black guy looks and act really annoying (though its not too far from the truth here in the U.S.) I got used to the subs actually so I cud watch and read at the same time then eventually I just kinda adapt so I understand and watch at the same time its weird I know. :P It's good and the animation took my breath away :3 I see..
I like ur art its cool ^^ I'm not very good at metal working and glass working, I get frustrated too easily and wud get burnt. Very pretty tho :P

i stumbled upon ya on here :p yeah same here. I suggest you watch Mononoke, This Boy Can Fight Aliens and The Tatami Galaxy ;) They have really interesting art, especially This Boy Can Fight Aliens, its amazing trust me, it'll blow you away. you should also check out There She Is and Aachi wa Ssispak. I have a bunch more I can recommend ;p Besides the art I also go for a good story line too. Since m a writer and artist :p Do you post your art online? I like your profile pic too. It looks a lot like 2-D from the GoRiLLaz. ^^ Sorry for the long post.

It's certainly not an action anime :) and sadly, if you're expecting answers to just what the Haibane are and where Gurri is, this is a series that raises far more questions than answers - there's websites devoted to WTF? are the Haibane? ABe doesn't apologise for that either. There's been rumours of a sequel, but nothing yet.
However, I must recommend watching the last 3 episodes - amazing, as the focus of the story shifts from Rakka to Reki.

That's what put me off DN too - the length of it, plus I'd already seen the live action versions, which didn't help. Finding the two "director's cut" films helped - condensed it all into an easy to swallow package.
How are you finding Haibane? One of the first series I watched, still love it, and I'm a big Yoshitoshi ABe fangirl too :)
