Nah, it's sort of designed to work simply. The hard part is how I'm going to store the data to (possibly) have infinitely many connections and to quantify the strength of the connections. I'm going to load the 'most relevant' connections into memory and sort of use that as a 'conscious grounds' based on the subject of discussion of the input.
And yeah, my bot is named after Mamimi from FLCL because I originally made it for Synthetic's channel, and Mamimi is her favourite character.
I'm quitting anime to pursue my educational goals, actually.
As for what the bot would do... I haven't gotten to the output part yet. Naturally I want the bot to be able to respond to stimulus, but just throwing it in would undoubtedly result in the bot spewing out random strings and spamming the channels. It's also overly simplified, since the only input is text, and as a result she will not have a lot of the logic toning things that humans have. Via the theory, they'd be comparing sound tones and such, which can very a lot. Context and spelling... not so much.
It only incorporates the theory about how the brain works. It will do this by making "connections" between words, having 4 "hormones" to help make these connections, and having some "axioms" to start it off. ("pain is bad" for example)
And no, I'm definitely stupid. I over think things, which is completely unnecessary and impractical, due to some petty ideals.
Actually, I wouldn't mind at all if my theories were disproved, it would give me more to think about. It's just that there's too much, and I'm too busy. I also spend about 40 hours a week on homework... dunno how that factors in. But considering I enjoy armchair philosophy in a broad range of subjects, and engage in it frequently on irc, you'll find that the theories here really are innumerable. In either case, I'm currently programming an AI system based on the theories I mentioned earlier. It's simple, but I'm really looking forward to how my bot turns out in the end. (It's a simplified theory already, considering it doesn't take hormones or the physical properties of the brain into account, just logic systems).
I love learning though, whether I'm wrong or right. I'll admit to being stupid, though, since it takes me 12 hours to do calculus assignments. It really shouldn't take that long according to everyone I've talked to about it, including myself.
I was sent from the dark mountains, I have for you no message.
Also, that's only one of my crazier armchair theories, so alas, I'm far too lazy to google evidence for any/all of them, especially when I spend so much time in conversations like these, on homework and on programming.
Actually, it's difficult to burden the brain with enough knowledge that it forcibly removes it. Of course, eventually connections will be 'buried' and the knowledge 'lost'. It's part of the process of forgetting things. Since we think by using logical connections, if there aren't any connections you can follow to get somewhere, then you won't get there, and the stuff with which you are currently the most familiar is where your initial nerve firings are more likely. Well, perhaps all wish-wash, anyways. If you have any, I wouldn't mind supporting or opposing empirical information.
I wouldn't call it an attention disorder so much as a communication barrier. Or inability to pursue coherence, perhaps. It could also be an attempt at some form of reaction that I'm sure the sponge is quite familiar with.
