Just learn to say no. If you people want you to do something you would rather not do then don't do it. People won't hate you for not doing what they want or having different a opinion than theirs. You said it yourself, you need to stop overthinking. There's nothing wrong with acting first and thinking later as long as you stay true to yourself and follow through.

And I wouldn't blame you for not watching Mirai Nikki, I usually don't watch it for months and then catch up just because I don't feel like watching it.
But you should really watch Star Driver, it will help you get a better appreciation of Utena and you will actually be able to tell which parts were the work of Ikuhara and which part were Enokido's (spoiler: the awesome ones).
But do no be mistaken, the most important reason to watch it is because I say so.
