Guilty Crown is a very good example of a anime that throws away the potential originality, in favor of generic action tropes and overdone characterization also a cluster of big budgets, big ideas, many cliches, often bad execution, and a truly horrible fanbase. It uses asspull after asspull and wasn't enjoyable enough for them to be overlooked. The characters were bland and only a few were even slightly likable(Dan, Hare, Cripple, etc), it used every anime cliche in the book, the plot was beyond generic, and it obviously took from other anime without fully understanding what made them good in the first place.
The part of
...
the show where Shu is basically king of the school should have been pretty much the entire anime. That arc had tension, politics, polarizing debate, stuff to really make the show interesting and keep its viewers intrigued. The unique concepts the anime had were used well here. Fuck Gai, fuck Funeral Parlour, it was an entirely wasted 10 episodes in the long run. I honestly, honestly can't believe the writers thought they were making the next GiTS when they were writing that abortion.
From there on It isn't coherent, the character development is flawed, they didn't answer all questions and Inori has almost no personality. I dislike almost everything about Guilty crown but I kinda of liked the end. Everything I felt...it was not for Guilty Crown itself. Just the end. It was remotely nice and kinda bitter sweet. So that's why I'd give it a 4 instead a 1.

Quality != Popularity. Implying, or wrongly stating that it does is a fallacy. I will begin this affirming: SAO is bad, not because it's popular, because it's bad. SAO has a really awful beginning that can't decide what to do with itself. It sets itself up as a Batsu game, but then never really expands on the subject, instead choosing to try and make it a grim and dark shounen, but that doesn't really work out either. It then tries being a mystery show, and was actually okay for the two episodes it tried, but that's all it accomplished.
The story starts picking up around
...
the middle of the first season where it goes off on this romantic story between two players, and the guild affairs of the game. Honestly, most of the first half of season one was literally just setting this up, regardless of all the plot holes and idiotic story design elements and bad pacing. So it's pretty good. And then the first season randomly ends before the game is finished. Oh, hey, I'm the final boss. Let's fight for no reason away from the last floor.. This would have been fine, except they clearly didn't know what to do with themselves at this point, because they immediately set up another poorly placed ridiculous storyline that almost mimics the conditions of the first season, except without any of the negative penalties. "Oh no! Don't die or. . .you might be kinda. . .inconvenienced?" There's nothing really at stake other than time, and the villain is laughably two dimensional.
There is nothing redeemable about SAO aside from the soundtrack and occasionally decent animation. It had potential but everything was wasted from the writing.
You can enjoy bad anime if you want, but do not try to act like it's actually good in any way. This is why SAO fans annoy me -- not because they like it, but because they think it's amazing in the face of all the glaring issues. They disregard valid complaints with "well I found it fun!" and only cherrypick the bad arguments instead of addressing the ones that matter.
I can barely enjoy anything for the cute girls and the sexual appeal. SAO doesn't even have that. It's just a shell of a series that had potential but never utilized it. It's nothing more than a bad anime with good production values, and no matter how good the soundtrack and how flashy it looks, I cannot enjoy awful storytelling for those two aspects alone. Every time I feel like I'm about to enjoy the series, it goes right back to its problems due to the lack of talent from the writer. He tries so hard that it's actually embarrassing to watch.

Shingeki no Kyojin is an anime adaptation of the manga which won Kodansha Manga Award on the shounen category in 2011 and the utmost representative flag why kids nowadays will always prefer awesome action scenes instead good characters in a good story (we vidya now lads).
I try to at least be as objective as possible with these reviews, but in this case I can't not mention the constant annoyance the main character and his constant angsting about the things that happened in the first episode. Jesus Christ, his whole existence revolves around angst. Realistic portrayals of characters do not just use one aspect
...
of them and blatter us over the head with that non-stop. There needs to be at least one high-moment to correlate all of the low moments. If he is in constant angst-mode and always shouting, it becomes meaningless and more of a joke or a running gag.
Now I know. It is shounen. What do I even expect? But the straw of thinking too deep into it doesn't work this time, because even when you scratch the surface of these characters, they still seem to be completely uninteresting. There is no concept worth exploring here, no good idea hooking you to the adventure and what is there, is boring after a few episodes.
Most of the things like character-motivation, their development and the pacing just seem quite off. The characters like Eren, Mikasa and Armin are completely one dimensional and void of almost any interesting aspect.
Up front, the more time passes between me, having watched the show and now thinking about it, the more average it becomes. I came to the conclusion, that the show severely lacks memorable moments. Many may call BS on me for that, but really think about it. Excluding what happens in Episode eight...I think, there was almost nothing for me to remember fondly. I'll say, that upon first completing the show, I quite liked it and would have even called it good, but that is just not the case anymore.
Also as enjoyment it's quite nice, but "Enjoyment" rating shouldn't be one of the aspects when making an impartial review and this is pretty much why 99% of MAL reviews are bad. There's plenty good stuff you could watch instead getting into this. After 1st season It gets insufferable -opinion even among the fans- so if you like action scenes just watch an american movie already.
