When I saw the announcement about this ova a few months ago I was pretty excited. A What-If story where Shinichi never got his old body back sounds very interesting if you are a fan of the Anime/Manga after all.
So I started watching it, expecting an adult version of Conan (along with his friends) getting caught up in another case like we are used to from the manga or anime. After all this serie isn't called " 'Detective' Conan" for nothing, right?
Wrong! Instead we get a 7 min explanation of why we are going to seeing all the characters 10 years older with Conan, Ran and the others still being their normal age.
These 7 min could have been better spend, especially considering that the ova is only 23-25 minutes long.
Okay, after these boring first minutes we get to see the adult Conan followed by an appearance of nearly every other closely involved character with around 1-3 min screen-time. Doesn't sound like much, but believe me when I say that this is more than enough, seeing as the only thing that was changed were their age.
Usually you would expect at least a little change in personality over 10(!) years but all of them are the same and only look older. It's okay by those like Kogoro but why the hell are Ayumi, Genta and Mitsuhiko still acting like when they were 8 years olds?
Maybe I'm the only one who thinks so or it was just that we only saw them for a short time, but that was how I saw it.
Taking this into account and the whole set up of this so-called "What-If"(because for me a what-if is when you show how a character progressed in an alternate way than originally planned) I have to say that this OVA has absolutely no point.
Despite the lacking story or any kind of development the Art and Design of all the adult (or older) versions were actually rather believable.
So, all in all if you have the urge to see what Ayumi or Genta or any other characters would look like 10 years later go google a picture, takes less time and brings the same results.

This manga appears rather boring on the first glance but trust me after you read the 1. Volume you want to buy the other four, too.
The story seems pretty simple at first: Some girl from the Future trying to make things better. Sounds boring? It does, if that was the only element of it. in the first few chapters you get to see something that can only be called pure romance. but moment after moment you beginn to think: Hmm... there is something else going to happen. and then suddenly starts the action. Unexpectet? when reading the first time: yes. after that the story develops nicely with smooth changes from action to humour to romance and back to action. The story doesn't seem to forced exept the ending, which even if it was a nice twist came rather unprepared over. Overall it is very interessting and even if the fights do have a very dragonball-ish feel to it one can largly irgnor it.
The art is clean and show much love when it comes to details. even things that normaly are only drawn in a round about way were given some time to draw probably and it gives the surrounding a nice feeling. all in all i'm actually very impressed by the art.
There is character development, there are flaws, there are changes. Whats there more to say? these characters that make up the main part of story are fleshed out and seem realistic and can be related to easily.
Well I enjoyed the manga very much and can only say that if you haven't read it yet you should do so now

X is a very mystyrious and drama-heavy anime, coupled with nice action scense's.
The Story focus on the first episodes on Kamui who wants to get a sword that belongs to him, passed down from his mother, but gets drawn into a fight of the destiny of the earth. With him as the key to it apperently.
When put like this it doesn't sound like much but add to that some very interesting twist and turns that can glue you to the screen and you get something that you want to see the end of no matter what.
The art is done very well, with nice backgrounds that don't draw to much attention away form what is actually happening and very nice details which together make this anime very nice to look at
the music in my opinion is chossen very well in the dramatic moments, but the fight music is at best anticlimatic and sounds like your playing some videogame sometimes, but only when you have a fight that hasn't some kind of drama in it. again drama-moments are very well done in this one.
The characters are split in two categories: in one can we put the to main chara's... with development, emotions and all that portrait so realitic and believable that it can overshadow the, rather poor, suppourtcharaters that the authors were trying desperatly to give some dept but faild half way through.
All in all the anime is really worth it to at least watch once in your life, even if you aren't a fan of emotinal animes and such. read more
