My list of favorite characters is already ordered, so probably the one at the top: Yuna from Final Fantasy X. Though if we're strictly talking anime, then Death Note's L takes the spot. Most of my favorites are of a similar type: characters like L that don't have too many negative traits and are uniquely smart or skilled in some manner. Yuna's a bit different though: only 17 years old, she goes on an arduous year-long pilgrimage to bring her country a few years of peace, knowing full well that she'll inevitably die at the end of the journey. And all the while she grows dynamically and fights alongside her allies without complaint, while always incredibly kind, selfless, hard working, soft-spoken, and full of smiles. Quite the extraordinary character, I thought. How about your all-time fave?
Okami HD's 3 years old for the PS3, and the non-HD version was released almost a decade ago for the PS2 and Wii.
oic. Hmm, my own favorite character list needs updating. Quite a few characters I wish I could add, like the wolf from my profile pic, the lead from Okami. Heard of it? If not:
Slicing through the lush watercolor scenery as if you were the wind, spewing flowers in your wake like the goddess you are, having control over every major element at your tail... it practically forces a vicarious, dreamlike experience. The low quality video does no justice to this uniquely breathtaking game, but it really is beautiful. Wish I had time to replay it...
Oh, my mistake. I was actually referring to what I consider the two halves of the anime, the first 13 episodes blissfully carefree and the rest dramatic. I haven't read the manga -- though I enjoy reading novels, can't say the same for manga (or comics in general) for some reason. Maybe I just haven't found the right manga yet?
Right, I unfortunately didn't like the second half of the anime much. This part of my review explains why:
Between episode 13 and the end, it kept drawing out, and out... and out. It became a true shoujo soap drama where one character picks on the tiniest little things and makes the relationship unnecessarily difficult, while the other character can't get away from the past. It was slow and tiresome. I just didn't enjoy this second half very much, but it was still watchable, and you will probably be able to stick through it. Unfortunately, the ending is nothing really worth waiting for anyway.
But I thoroughly enjoyed the anime's first half, as well as Nanami's character before she became hypercritical. Curious: you've chosen her name as your username, yet she's not in your wall's 'Favorite Characters' list?
From the name you chose here and since I'm not active anywhere else on MAL, I'm guessing you found me through my Bokura ga Ita review? Wow, 10/10, I wish I enjoyed it as much too. So I'm guessing that unlike me, you liked the more dramatic second half as much as the carefree first half? Perhaps even more so?
Hey, nice to meet you. Thanks for the friend req, and sure I'd be happy to be friends, but wouldn't it be better to at least talk a bit first? Otherwise we're just sticking hollow names on our walls.
Oh, seems you've just joined MAL today. How're you liking the site?
