I'll say this: Whatever evidence I gave you during our talk, please keep them (as in bookmark them). Show it to your fellow J-pop fans and ask them the same questions I asked you.

Also I'll give you these for you to read and to show other J-pop fandom:

In 2011, former Morning Musume leader, Ai Takahashi called for J-pop to be globalized and she cited K-pop success in Asia. Ask them what were international J-pop fandom doing when she said that and why no action was done at the same when she made the announcement.

Show them the Itunes US created a K-pop genre

Soompi article

Koreaboo article

Ask your fellow J-pop fans why did they didn't raise hell when K-pop got it's own genre on US Itunes, and demanded J-pop to get the same. Why did they stood silent when this was announced.

If you do this, then it'll help me (and you) to get to the bottom of the mystery why J-pop's international fandom just decline and may explain why many K-pop's former J-pop fans just never went back to J-pop.

Okay, so here is what I suspect is why KPOP fans don't turn to JPOP. First of all if we're talking about actual South Korean KPOP fans, it probably has something to do with the strained political relationship Japan and Korea has.

No we're talking about international J-pop fans. Not the one in Korea. So I hope this clear up. Yes there still some tension between Korea and Japan over some issues. But I do see a lot of anti-Korean sentiment building up in Japan for the last few years because of the Korean Wave.

Reason one: they're so stubbornly obsessed with KPOP that even if they've never listened to JPOP once before they're convinced it's not worth their time and that it's inferior to KPOP anyway so why bother.

So why are there K-pop fans slowly branching out to Taiwanese Pop? I even seen some that are branching out to Thai pop. Both of them are more niche then J-pop yet they get some form of acceptance from western fans.

Reason two: there is an overall stereotype in America that Japan is the center of weirdness in the world. Therefore anything coming from Japan is hardly ever taken seriously to being with (this may have something to do with what you said about KPOP being accepted but JPOP not even though they have equally strange music videos).

South Korea has some weird stuff too (not as weird as Japan though). Like do you know the stereotype about dog meat consumption in South Korea. Long time ago South Korea used to get that much negative publicity all over the world over dog meat. After K-pop and K-dramas got popular around the world, the dog meat consumption thing started to get out of people mind.

Reason three: they get turned away from JPOP because of groups like AKB48, which are at the front of mainstream JPOP and therefore are usually the first result to pop up when someone googles JPOP or whatnot.

It doesn't explain how K-pop group like I.O.I and WSJN/Cosmic Girls got accepted by international fans. They're both "mega" idol group, and yet AKB48 doesn't get accepted by western audiences while K-pop equivalent got accepted. Does this mean if AKB48 was a Korean and not Japanese idol group, would that made a big difference?

I also fully agree that one of the main reasons people in general don't get into JPOP is because of accessibility. Since Japan has the second largest music industry in the world, there's really no need for music companies to cater to an international fanbase; no matter how big it may be. whereas finding an English website that provides JPOP is like finding an oasis in a desert.

That is true and I don't disagree with you. I mean I don't see J-pop interacting with international fanbases like their Korean counterpart does:

That's what make it different from J-pop. They take their international fanbases seriously.

Also there is one thing that bother me. If accessibility was an issue, why didn't international J-pop fans raise hell online when J-pop got blocked on Youtube. I mean that's what K-pop fans did in 2013. I never seen J-pop fans around the world didn't do this:

K-pop fandom worldwide unite to do this back in 2013. Why didn't J-pop fans around the world do the same when J-pop on YT got blocked?

I honestly have no idea why the international JPOP fandom never grew to what the KPOP fandom is today. JPOP in a way gets just as much expose if not more (though indirect) from anime and games watched/played by people all over the world. And yet it's still not as big as a deal as KPOP. It's really absurd and I can't seem to understand the mentality of people (KPOP fan or otherwise) who just dismiss JPOP without giving it a chance....

Regarding J-pop fandom, long time they had the same rabid mentality like K-pop fandom has today, I mean look at this:

2009 article: J-Pop/Showbiz Male Idol Fan Girls are the WORSE…

Even now, there are remnant of J-pop fans that want J-pop to get the same global recognition like K-pop are getting.

you said:
Then they discovered KPOP idol groups, which focused more on mature and cool concepts, which probably reminded them (whether they realized it or not) of western music; the music they grew up on and are ultimately most used too.

But there are K-pop groups that do cute concept or concept that look similar to J-pop like for example:

And yet these girl groups from Korea got a lot of international fanbases more then any J-pop girl group got.

When I asked these people why they switched, they would almost always say because KPOP was 'cooler' and their music was more catchy and their dances and music videos more interesting.

I can understand the dance choreography being a lot better then J-pop. I can agree the music videos have better production value then their Japanese counterpart. But it doesn't answer the question why K-pop fans are slowly branching out to Taiwanese music despite Taiwanese music isn't as attractive like J-pop or K-pop.

But in the end, this just means that they never really got a good grasp of JPOP. JPOP is incredibly vast and even idol groups have an impressive amount of variety, especially nowadays.

I think accessibility is the main issue why J-pop never grew. Also there's been accusation J-pop fans made against K-pop fans of bias and double standard. I mean for example, they accuse fans of K-pop of not accepting AKB48 yet accept their K-pop counterpart. I mean for example, they only accept these big girl group:

Few JPOP-turned-KPOP fans I talked too were very deep into the indie band or soloist scene from Japan and they really only switched because mainstream music was what they paid attention too and what they saw most attractive in KPOP.

But these same K-pop fans are branching out to K-indies, K Hip-Hop, and other aspect of K-music too. I read it on a AramaJapan article that J-pop/J-music suffer from lack of unity, and I'll quote:

AramaJapan said:
Now that we have Dempagumi.inc as the Japanese representative, what do we do? Do we vote for them, or not?

I’ve noticed here and on other sites people saying that they have no plan to vote for Dempagumi.inc because they don’t like them and / or because they give Japanese music a bad image. But shouldn’t this be something Japanese music fans rally behind? I mean, KPop fans do this all the time. They’ll vote for an act they’re not a fan of simply to further the KPop cause. This is how Big Bang won Best Worldwide Act at the 2011 MTV EMA. This is how Girls’ Generation won Best Music Video at the YouTube Music Awards in 2013.

People often talk about how Japanese music fans internationally aren’t unified, since there are so many kinds of Japanese music that we consume. What do an Ayumi Hamasaki fan and an ONE OK ROCK fan have in common besides them both being Japanese? What do a Sakanaction fan and an AKB48 fan have in common besides them both being Japanese? But should we get over this thinking?

Do you agree with this article? I mean this lead to another question: Why didn't J-rock fan branch out to J-pop? Why didn't J-pop fans branch out to J-rock? And yet there are many K-pop fans that branch out to K-indies, K Hip-Hop, and other K-music, so what the hack was going on within the J-pop/J-music fandom?

Those whatever I said need to be addressed? And I can't find anyone that can answer these questions I asked.

I mean do you have any idea what could be turning off K-pop fans from becoming potential J-pop fans and what causing former J-pop fans turned K-pop fans to never go back to J-pop. I mean I can cite maybe multiple factors for J-pop to not get the same type of growth like K-pop is getting.

Reason #1: accessibility issues, I mean look at these:

J-pop's accessbility

ANN'a Answerman: Why is it so tough to buy Japanese digital media downloads?

I was told the issues of international accessibility of J-pop was the reason why J-pop lack the same global popularity like K-pop. Taiwanese music is accessible and you can find their MVs on Youtube (although you'll need to know Chinese to search for their official MVs).

Reason #2: I was told that J-pop PVs/MVs was too weird to be accepted by western audiences.

I was told that from several J-pop fans the MVs/PVs from J-pop was too weird to be accepted to be western audiences. But this doesn't make sense, I watch a lot of K-pop MVs that are weird too and yet they got accepted in the west. I found some of them to "out-weird" J-pop I mean for example:

I mean you can watch this one:

So if the weirdest K-pop MV got accepted by international audiences, then why did J-pop didn't?

Reason #3: K-pop fans not being open-minded to other Asian pop

OK, I was told by several J-pop fans that K-pop aren't open-minded to other Asian pop. But this doesn't make sense to me because many K-pop fans used to be former J-pop fans themselves and they never went back to J-pop. As I already stated, there are K-pop fans that are slowly branching out to Taiwanese music but why not branch out to J-pop is completely beyond me. I could argue J-pop's accessibility could be the big issue.

But it still a mystery why these former J-pop fans turned K-pop fans never went back to J-pop after they became K-pop fans. So what do you think? Why do you think J-pop international fanbases just never grew to the same size as K-pop fandom?

you said:
I know it's really frustrating. But that's why such a group is needed because there's really no more active JPOP only forums so we need a place to socialize with each other.

I know and I understand. What really baffle is me why K-pop fans won't branch out to J-pop. I mean I'm seeing evidence of K-pop fans slowly branching out to Taiwanese music (this is probably due to the rising popularity of Taiwanese dramas). I asked around and fans of J-pop are baffled by this too. They don't know why many K-pop fans won't branch out.

Here's the thing that also baffle me: When many J-pop fans branch out to K-pop, a lot of them never went back to J-pop.

I don't know why these former J-pop fans never bother to introduce J-pop to current K-pop fans. I mean what is turning off K-pop fans from becoming fans of J-pop when they're slowly starting to accept Taiwanese music. I mean Taiwanese music is not as attractive like Korean or Japanese music, but yeah.
