About mellytan
anime tryouts; trying the first episodes now
Zipang - pretty much the only real naval anime, despite its seemingly hokey premise. character design looks mature (reminds me of patlabor) and it looks like more of a character drama than anything; this is my favorite kind of anime UPDATE: and lo it is awesome
Witch Hunter Robin - been meaning to watch this for a while, looks very fascinating and dark
Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199 (OVA) - gotta check out a new entry in the yamato series
Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Spiral Labyrinth - been meaning to watch this for forever; yang wenli's journey as a young (space) naval officer is relevant to my interests now so i hope it doesnt disappoint. side note: this is the only logh thing i haven't watched...
Area 88 - fly into the danger zone
Macross Zero - take me on your mighty wings tonight

currently reading
Zipang - Picking up where the anime left off --chapter 69. Unfortunately it's only been translated up to c70, but I might go back and read the previous chapters since it seems the anime and manga do have some differences. Also, the artist's style really looks better in manga form, I think.

Gunka no Balzar - military manga in the guise of a shonen adventure that focuses heavily on the details of a early-1900s pseudo-central europe. this psudo-europa is not very original, but extremely detailed--the author even illustrates a recipe for schweinshaxe, a dish eaten by the characters in chapter 5. the main character is an officer from pseudo-prussia who is sent to pseudo-austria to train the artillery cadets at the military academy there. he seems like the typical onizuka ripoff at first (except he's a teacher trying to train cadets who aren't rowdy but rather timid because of their experiences under the other cruel instructors at the academy) but has a sharp military mind, and it's always interesting to see how he'll handle himself in the precarious situations he finds himself in.

Berserk - a miracle of art, a manifestation of creative spirit and imagination in its purest (darkest?) form. to this day, i do not know how a human being was able to create this using only his hands. he must have sold his soul as well, i am convinced of this. truly the one masterpiece of japanese comics UPDATE: after 3+ years of reading it, I'm finally caught up! ....only to fined that the author is taking another hiatus.

oh miura

13 weeks :o. Wow, that will be a long time, I hope you enjoy your time there and everything goes well *thumbs up*.

Awesome, I will have plenty of time to play your game in-depth and give you feedback when you return!

Happy holidays to you as well, even though you won't see it for awhile I will draw you a Christmas card. I know you will do well at your school. Type to you not-so-soon, but eventually!

*Power Gloves up*

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-26-12, 7:29 AM
Another weird thing is, I changed my profile like 6 days ago and it hasn't changed :o. Maybe my MAL is stuck in permanent stasis haha.

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-26-12, 7:14 AM
Yeah, I did leave a message. That is very weird that it vanished haha (I always go to your page after leaving a message to edit typos and make sure they got posted haha, and I think that it was posted successfully). Maybe it is a conspiracy, and the way the letters were arranged in the last message inadvertently broke a secret MAL code that if left viewable to the public would have great repercussions :o.

Yes, I enjoyed my Thanksgiving very much, but I did not get to go see the movie after all. How about yours?

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-19-12, 10:30 PM
I will :3

I am flying on a plane due to Thanksgiving so my schedule this week will be messed up, but I plan on definitely sticking with the schedule next week. But before I sleep for tonight I will be doing the gaming hour. Only, next week I will not start so late haha. *puts on Power Glove and sunglasses*. I think I am ready for the game :o

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-18-12, 8:24 PM
Yeah, I saw some trailers for Wreck-It Ralph not too long ago. It looks really good, I'd like to see it. I was thinking maybe around Thanksgiving I will.

I was going to start your game today, but then my parents unexpectedly made me help them move furniture from one house to another and that took the entire day almost (I wish people would tell me things in advance haha). I plan on starting it tomorrow (I left my computer running while I was gone so I was able to download the game), when I get home from work and setting aside an hour a day for it. I would like to get on some sort of schedule when I get home from work anyway, so this will help. I could do...play game for an hour, then take an hour nap haha, then work on the computer project for an hour, etc. Thanks for the info about the bugs. I will be sure to equip the Raid spray *thumbs up* just in case.

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-14-12, 11:36 AM
I hope there is a monocle item drop that you can equip to use the monocle adjust skill :o. I guess I will find out.

Your last day of work, awesome haha. I wish I had a last day of work in sight :B.

How was the movie?

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-13-12, 10:26 PM
Only 2.5 weeks :o. Good luck on your 13 week training, it sounds like it might be quite intense :d.

Oh speaking of projects, Im about to release the new/almost final version of my game. I will pm you the link, I haven't tested the later stuff but it should be interesting if you have the time.

Awesome! Yes, I am very interested in playing it. Thank you very much :3.

Tokyo Jungle is simple, but it is one of those "just one more round" kind of games haha. Every time I died in survival mode this weekend I would start all over on it hoping to get just a little further. The city is randomized each time you play it, so sometimes you die due to unluckiness haha. But it is pretty involved for the price.

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-12-12, 5:40 PM
About Area 88, I haven't seen the TV series, but the OVA was really good I thought. After watching it I tried to find out more about the manga, but unfortunately it is not completely translated (similar to Patlabor, I have heard the manga of it is quite good...and after finishing up everything else Patlabor related I really wanted to read it). The Area 88 OVA series left quite an impression on me though (the plane stuff is good, but the storyline was particularly intriguing). Maybe the TV series has the rest of the manga story, that would be something for me to check out in the future.

I am not too up to date on SMT, so I don't know which ones are out for the DS or not. That is a game series I wish I had more knowledge about, because it seems like it would be one of my favorites if only I had played them haha...I have spent many hours on that game art site haha. I think the artwork for the Front Mission games on it are really good too. The artist is one of my favorites and really adds a lot to the human character designs despite them not being the major point of the game:

http://www.creativeuncut.com/art_front-mission-3_a.html

His art on Mystic Ark is what drew me to that game (really cool game by the way)

http://kelesis.free.fr/hp/gallery/yamada/index_eng.htm

Not sure if he does any new game art though.

That RSS stuff sounds very useful. I will try to read up on that kind of stuff haha. Because actually, it is too early to say a lot about it, but someone who can draw is drawing one of my comic stories for me...I just send them the storyboards and script and they put it all together with good art, so, hopefully if they keep it up *crosses fingers* then I will have worked on something people might have a chance of reading (not that people would care about my part in making the comic, the artwork is what would draw them to it if anything, without that it is nothing). And I want to make a good website for it and everything before I show anyone, a site with a decent presentation and all that fancy stuff people use these days haha.

By the way, I downloaded Tokyo Jungle for PS3 a few days ago and it is very addicting. Did you hear about it?

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-09-12, 11:39 AM
I saw your profile, really cool stuff you have on there *thumbs up*. Have you watched the first episode of Area 88 OVA yet? The OVA is pretty awesome I thought.

I have really been wanting to get the DDS games.

The thing that drew me to the original Persona games was the Kazuma Kaneko artwork:

(the slipper in the head was a big selling point haha)

http://www.rpgfan.com/pics/persona2-ep/art-persona05.jpg
(this one always reminded me of an older X-Men character named Sunfire:

)

Oh yeah, that reminds me. I have Maken X on Dreamcast haha, it was pretty interesting.

This game always interested me as well:

I remember being excited when it was mentioned in some game magazines it was going to get a US release. But that never happened sadly.

Back to Persona 2, I really liked winning the lottery stuff and magazine prizes (like upgrades for your Persona so you don't have to spend time leveling up). I got really lucky and won a lot of money and didn't have to worry about money the rest of the game haha.

I will have to check out the newer games eventually too. They sound really cool and are something I would probably enjoy a lot.

About the comic stuff. I guess first I need to learn what RSS is haha. I will look into it, I just upload the comics and that is it. I looked on forums and a lot of people say they refuse to read any webcomics that don't have their own layout, etc. To me that is kind of picky because the comics are the important thing, but I guess the presentation is just as major.

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-08-12, 9:47 AM
Yes, the persona games always have a lot of interesting things going on in them, and have some great characters. I liked the blonde girl's dad in Innocent Sin, the guy who was a parody of Steven Segal haha.

Haha, yeah that character was funny. The cool thing about Eternal Punishment is that, the main characters in Innocent Sin are in the game as minor characters, and some of the minor characters from IS are now the major characters of EP. Well, you still can't play as Steven Seagal unfortunately, but for example, my favorite character in EP is:

http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Katsuya_Suou

In Persona 2: Innocent Sin, Katsuya is depicted by Tatsuya as a harsh, perfectionist older brother who often fails to understand him in any way. This behavior has been somewhat toned down in Persona 2: Eternal Punishment, due to the perspective changing from Tatsuya's point of view to Maya's own.

I like the concept of the point of view thing the two games have.

No, I never actually got to play Revelations. I heard about it though and wish that I had. I did forget though - I have played Jack Bros. on Virtual Boy haha. Someone on MAL actually told me recently that the PS2 games got reprints a little while ago and are currently back in stock for a decent new price:

http://www.amazon.com/Shin-Megami-Tensei-Digital-Playstation-2/dp/B00008KTRS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1352396528&sr=8-1&keywords=digital+devil+saga

http://www.amazon.com/Megami-Tensei-Digital-Devil-Playstation-2/dp/B000784XG2/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1352396528&sr=8-2&keywords=digital+devil+saga

http://www.amazon.com/Shin-Megami-Tensei-Nocturne-Playstation-2/dp/B00024W1U6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1352396528&sr=8-3&keywords=digital+devil+saga

I would actually like to try them out myself. Not sure if you can find them in stores for that price though. I doubt it haha. And the current stock probably won't last long. Hopefully I can save some money to spend on games eventually.

Are you guys still looking to get your comics published?

I guess not haha.

Physica_Fulcrum | 11-04-12, 12:38 PM
I only have Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for PS1, but it was one of my favorite RPGs on the console. My favorite thing about it had to be the "modern" setting. That kind of setting for '90s era RPGs is always my favorite and too rare (it is why Earthbound is probably my favorite RPG). I also have played the fan translated version of Innocent Sin (though I played it after already playing Eternal Punishment, but that is just because no one brought Innocent Sin out here for a long time...I think it has a PSP release now though? If so, that is just more reason to own a PSP). The later Persona games sound very interesting too, it sounds like the games are very involved which I definitely like. I really like how you can go to convenience stores and stuff in Persona 2 haha. Also the story was very good to me. I also enjoyed how you did not actually have to fight in battle, you could use persuasion to get monsters to join you, etc. There was just a lot of cool unique stuff about that game, like winning magazine contests, the cell phone "rumor spreading" system, and other excellent ideas. I would very much like to play the later games as well. Plus the designs of the Personas are very cool (JJBA Stand-ish). One thing I wonder about is all the different Persona versions. I know there is Persona 3 and 4, but it seems like they have a lot of versions.

I would like to try the other Shin Megami Tensei games as well. Have you played any? The ones on the PS2 look pretty cool. Digital Devil Saga 1 and 2 especially.

Thanks. It is my brother's comic based on an idea I had about cryptids in the human world with Big Foot as a shoe company owner (and he also owns the world's tiniest cell phone because the smaller the technology the more expensive it is, but he can't make calls on it because its smaller than his fingernail haha). Someone gave it a bad score on that site, and my brother's comics already don't get much views so to me it felt more like picking on a "nobody" rather than any kind of helpful criticism (as no feedback was given other than "Bad comic"), so I got mad and linked it haha. But it was useless, he is already not going to do anymore pages. Oh well.

Physica_Fulcrum | 10-27-12, 9:16 PM
Awesome. Yes it helps a lot *thumbs up*, thank you very much. Yeah...PSPGo, that was the one I saw at the store I was at last time. Do they still make PSP games?

Oh wow the VF anime haha...they made anime of everything back then. Lol I never played Megamix but I might have to look into it...

It was one of those anime on VHS where the opening theme had its own dubbed English lyrics and stuff haha. Kind of like the Power Stone anime haha.

Did you get to play any good games last weekend?

Not yet. I am working on it though haha (just plugged up a game console). What about you?

Alas86 | 10-27-12, 4:06 AM
If I tried to sneak in here and got caught I really have no idea what they would do to me. Things were so much easier in the past. To tell you the truth in a world which supposedly espouses freedom and equality such as this one I really don't understand how borders can be guarded so religiously.

We shall see, its an option.

Alas86 | 10-20-12, 5:33 PM
Yes, I'll spend the next few months with her.

The irony is that things seem to be way better here in Oz, but I'm afraid I can't stay. I already had trouble with their immigration office as a tourist, imagine if I actually tried to stay here. They seem to take keeping everyone who is not a part of their club out really seriously.

Physica_Fulcrum | 10-20-12, 5:11 PM
That is interesting about the PS Vita. I never really knew what it was. I did notice that I kept seeing stuff on the PSN store for the Vita though. I will have to research it later because every time something caught my eye on the PSN store it ended up being only for the Vita haha. But I want to get a PSP first. How much do you think they cost now? I know that I don't want one of those newer PSPs that don't let you play your game discs...I went to a store awhile back and that was the only PSP they were selling, like a download only system or something.

The Virtua Fighter Game Gear game is pretty neat. I thought it was a very weird idea for the Virtua Fighter series at first, but then I remembered Virtua Fighter Kids (bobble headed super deformed Virtua Fighter) and the Genesis version of Virtua Fighter 2 (a 2-D Virtua Fighter when the original appeal of the series was that it was in a 3-D "virtua" style world) and then it did not seem too out of place. I used to watch the Virtua Fighter anime on VHS haha. I was never that good at the games though. I really like Fighters Megamix though (you could play as a jumping bean with a sombrero, a car, a palm tree, and more haha).

I don't have anything scheduled for Sunday (finally), so I think I am going to actually play a video game haha. I better make it count.
