I've been an otaku since around 1993-1994. I'm also a purist otaku, only watching anime in the original Japanese language; I abhor English dubs with a passion. I've gone through a series of different stages in my otakudom: watching anime with my sister in the 90s, running a local anime club in the early 2000s, and then a break from anime that was replaced with an interest in Japanese romance gaming (a.k.a. "visual novel"). Recently, I've returned to watching anime again after a hiatus of several years.
In addition to enjoying a variety of anime, I also enjoy parapara dancing, playing Japanese romance games, and attending anime conventions. I'm also a large fan of boys' love, and run the most well-known English-language site dedicated to information on boys' love PC games. Currently I collect far more anime and games than I actually have time to engage in, but still enjoy them whenever time allows.
I am a moderator of an online "book club"-style anime club,
PAWD (Pick Anime, Watch, Discuss) which is hosted as a members-only group on LiveJournal, and also can be found on irc.rizon.net in the channel #anime_discuss. PAWD is in need of more members, so if you are interested in joining, please visit our IRC channel and we'd be happy to discuss it with you! Ideally, new members need to a) enjoy watching anime and be willing to watch about two hours worth of anime each week, b) be willing to watch a wide variety of anime, c) be willing to write a comment related to the weekly anime pick on the club LiveJournal once a week, and d) keep in touch by stopping by the IRC channel, preferably a few times a week.
