Story~10: As I mentioned above, CG seems to be your usual sports anime but right after the 1st episode it will leave you in awe and shrugs off any bad expectations and will not give you the slightest opening to let you have them return, it was truly the best opening for an anime that I have seen so far. Every single time you think that it will be predictable, it surprises you.
CG has a nice flow and pace and before you know it you will have clicked on next episode for the whole day, don't let the 'all ages' rating turn you off, there is plenty of drama in the 1st episode already which made me even doubt that rating.
There are 50 episodes and usually what bothers me with animes that have 20+ episodes is that fillers will bump in, this is not the case with CG, there is 1 filler episode and even that is not really a filler, it adds to the anime in some way. Having that said, I actually wished that it would have lasted longer, the ending was alright but I have this urge to actually know how the whole tournament ended which is never shown though it was probably done so the viewer would go into their imagination world.
Another point that CG delivered well were the jokes, punchlines were everywhere and the comedy didn't come only from the supporting characters, it came from anyone, whether they were 1 episode flies or main characters. Something that should also be mentioned is the usage of flashbacks, they play a major role in this anime and they will explain some of the characters actions or their emotions, they were never bothersome and would always give an explanation.
Now what is most important in a sports anime is of course the action or matches, they were always packed with tension and surprises, let me tell you that this is no anime with all super heroes that win every single match with a major difference in score, the results were always believable and the matches were astonishingly well made, the matches were truly matches that would make you root for them, at least I did and i'm sure I am not the only one who did. From what I heard the writer of the story is involved in the real baseball world, so it might explain a thing or two.
Art~8: This is really something that bothered me at the start, huge ears is something you can't overlook and generally the hair style of some characters are what you could call weird or at least bothersome. Now you have to take into consideration that it is made for all ages, and you will eventually get used to it. The background is well done and emotions were well drawn out. What occurred to me was that the art actually got better the further you get into the episodes, so it is something you can look forward to.
Sound~9: Opening song is quite catchy and I myself never skipped it, it's just your usual J-Pop but an enjoyable 1. There are 5 different ending songs, all J-Pop as well, the last ending song (Koi Suru Otome by Natsuko Kondo) made the ending of the anime just that bit better.
BGM is almost never there, but when it was, it was blended well with the action on screen or just the right one to bring out the emotions better.
Characters~10: There are 2 main characters and they have the relationship of childhood 'friends', why that is, is something you'll have to watch the anime for.
We have Kitamura Kou, the male main protagonist and a promising pitcher who looked up to Tsukishima Aoba, the female protagonist, his reason for playing baseball is actually inspirable and will be explained, you guessed it, by memories. Both are likeable main protagonists and their relationship with each other will leave you laughing every now and then.
Tsukishima Aoba is as I said the female main protagonist, she is Kou's pitching mentor and he has his form from her, she is in a male's baseball team which leaves her unable to play for them and always having to watch the game from the stands, the reason why she plays for them is already explained in the first couple of episodes and further explained as the episodes pass by.
I will briefly explain the most important supporting characters;
Tsukishima Wakaba, Aoba's older sister and in love with Kitamura Kou, the main reason behind everything that happens and generally the main character in the memories.
Azuma Yuuhei, 4th batter for the team and able to hit near every ball that could be thrown, was an antagonist at the beginning but has reasons for changing, has sort of the advisory role in relationships.
Takigawa Akane, Akane puts the whole anime in a bullettrain and will leave you in awe, you will not see her appearance coming and is the switch that will put everything in motion.
Akaishi Osamu, the catcher and brain behind the team, was in love with Wakaba changed to a catcher from being a pitcher because of her.
Enjoyment~10, CG is truly a masterpiece and is nr48. on the ranking not for nothing, it has action, drama, comedy and tension in the matches and with some romance as well. It will have you in it's grisp straight after the first episode and will not let you go. I highly recommend CG to everyone, as it was inspiring and beautifully told. read more

First off let me say that this show is still airing and I will change my score when this show is completed, so this review is meant to give you an impression.
Another thing I would like to point out from the start is that this show is ecchi, so for those people who don't like it, don't even start watching this as there are plenty of ripped clothes which will leave some girls almost butt naked aside of some strings, so boobs, ass and shyness are there.
With that being said, let's start off;
Story 7; Now this is straight off where I'm actually already bothered but also where I have to think off what still has to come. This show has great potential and can easily be 1 of the better shows out there at the moment, however the fighting scenes are generally always in the same order: enemy appears, girl gets in trouble because her energy is not high enough yet, boy gives energy, girl whoops enemy's butt. Don't get me wrong though, the fighting scenes are pretty well done when it comes down to action, but I hope that it will change a bit in the future.
Now for the rest of the story, as I said it has great potential and that is because so many things have not been explained yet, as the creators of this show keep giving slight hints that there is coming a major twist to this story, the real action still has to come, I won't explain what still has to come as I myself hate spoilers and I won't spoil things for you guys either.
Art 9; Scenery is really well made, characters are not some sort of misformed animals and actually look pretty well. And as I explained earlier, fighting scenes are well made when it comes down to the actual moves of the characters, also it might just be me but I think that the shows is looking better now than it did at the start of the show, might be mistaken here though.
Sound 7; nothing really special here, the voice actors do a decent job as so far I have no real hate for a specific character when it comes down to their voices, in fact each and everyone of their voices suit the character pretty well.
BGM and opening/ending are mediocore, nothing that will stay with you when this show is over but still decent enough to make you somewhat enjoy it for the moment and the BGM does it's job by adding some tensity or calming atmosphere to the scenes.
Character 8; This is another point that I will most likely change when this show is over, I will briefly explain why, the main characters show promise when it comes down to their power and character development in general considering romance etc. However this still has to be done of course and I hope the creators do this otherwise the score for this will drop as fast as a human in the air without a parachute.
Now on to a little in-depth viewing;
The main protagonist, (Kaga, Ryosuke) is NOT as in most ecchi, action animes a complete weakling who is incredibly pathetic, in fact he is the one who has to save the female protagonist almost the whole time but there is a good reason for that which I won't explain as it would spoil too much.
Where this guy gets his power from is absolutely hilarious in my opinion and I think most people would agree with me, he is a very likeable character and for once I enjoy the main protagonist.
The female protagonist, (Renstall, Lisara) is basically Ryosuke's master and main reason why this show has the ecchi tag which you will understand straight away after the first episode, believe me when I say that after you've seen the first episode you will know straight away whether you will like this show or not.
The minor main characters and side characters are doing a decent job so far to add to the plot and to the comedy aspect.
Enjoyment 9; This is a high score, I know, however I will explain why. Even though this show has it's flaws and the fighting scenes have the same order of how it goes, it is still a very enjoyable show and before you know it you will have reach episode 6 which should air this week, I think.
As I said many times in this review, this show has potential and I hope that they will have everything taken care of when it ends or at least make it so good that I will look forward to a season 2 if it will come out as this show can become a gem.
For me personally so far, episode 1 was really well done, it will get you excited for the next episode but then it slows down a bit it will explain stuff and let's you go with the flow, but the last episode I watched today(nr.5) it will pick up some of the pace again and in between the episodes it will give hints as I stated before of some major stuff that still has to come.
So in 2 sentences; Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai is a possible gem but still far from being one. It has flaws and will certainly need some work, but still very, very enjoyable. read more

Basically if you don't like demons, angels, supernatural and fighting then this is nothing for you, also this story is ecchi so you are warned.
Something I would like to mention as well, this review is SPOILER FREE, I am expected to let you know whether you should watch this anime or not, not to spoil anything for you.
After having watched this show twice and read some of the light novels, I thought it would be time to write a review, so lets do this.
Story: For me personally, the story had me interested right from the start, I have a weak spot for angels, devils and all that is associated with them.
I didn't read a review about Highschool DxD as I simply stumbled upon it because of a typo on google but it is probably 1 of the best mistakes I made in my life.
It has action, it has well made fight scenes and the romance gets interesting as the story progresses. The anime sticks close to the LN and I can say that it stays over 90% true to it, it only covers LN 1 and 2, so if you want to know how the story goes after the anime, read the LN as there are 12 at the moment.
Now, what they did well with the anime was that they explained everything very well and only when the situation asked for it, so no massive amount of information at once that blows your mind into 100 pieces and you have no idea what is happening, another point where this anime scores well with, is that even though it is very ecchi, it isn't done over the top and not like other animes, that they did it at the most random moments, it is mixed well with the story and what surprised me most is that, sometimes they even have their reason to be that ecchi with the main protagonist.
Another point that I would like to let you know: Highschool DxD uses a lot of Norse, Japanese and Greek Mythologies, it would be useful if you know something about them but if not, don't worry as everything will be explained as the story progresses.
Art: The anime is well made concerning art, the background is accurately made and the character design is nothing unique, but nonetheless well done as their is no weird face design, nor are there characters with physics breaking hairstyles.
Sound: Personally I enjoyed the opening theme, in fact I even downloaded it. The ending theme is lets say...interesting, the animation that goes with the themes go well with what kind of atmosphere this anime has and probably simply to joke around as most people would have thought at the beginning of the anime that it would be as ecchi as it could get.
Where my 9 is based on mostly, is that the BGM is absolutely top notch, fighting scenes have a truly amazing tune that will get you all fired up, and romantic scenes have a well fitting tune as well, believe me when I say that if you would look for a playlist with them, that you won't regret it. It is truly well done and the composer is a genius in my opinion. another point, the BGM isn't repeated over and over again, almost every scene has it's own piece of music.
Character: Here is where Highschool DxD scores amazingly well, my opinion might be slightly biased as I read up to LN 5 and the character development is astonishing, the depth that the characters are described is amazing and something that I have never seen before, but don't get me wrong here, the characters in the anime have their fair squire of development already.
Now let's go a bit into more into detail;
Issei Hyoudou: Our perverted main protagonist who gets killed on his 1st date, quite sad actually, not knowing that his master would be Rias(buchou) and will revive him as a devil because he has a 'sacred gear' that could even kill gods. I won't go too much into detail as it would spoil things and that's not what a review should do.
Rias Gremory: The sweethearted, beautiful and 1 of 2 the school's 'onee-samas,' 1st in line to become the next head of the Gremory household, kind hearted to her 'slaves' but when someone makes fun of them or during training she changes into an absolute tsundere and will put herself to her limit.
Asia Argento: The kindhearted, blonde nun that will undergo absolute change if you read the LN..absolutely hilarious scenes will happen because of this, believe me.
Akeno Himejima: The other half of the 'onee-samas' and a complete sadist, also called the 'priestess of lightning.' She doesn't undergo any development through the anime though, but she certainly has her comedic part in the anime.
Yuuto Kiba: The 'prince of the high school' and seems to enjoy to annoy Ise by being too close to him, because of his good looks he is hated by Ise.
Koneko Toujou: The loli in this anime, is the idol of the school because of her tiny body and cute looks, doesn't talk a lot but when she does say something, it is generally to say something when Ise did something perverted.
The many supporting characters certainly add to the story and give a comedic breeze to the anime, all in all every character has his own contribution to the story and anime.
Enjoyment: I certainly enjoyed this anime and will watch this anime for a 3rd time for sure. It has a high re-watch value and actually an anime that every single person should have watched, or read the LN.
Overall: No matter what you are into, harem, ecchi, action, supernatural, it has something for you.
So stop reading and go watch it, and when you are done go read the LN, it will entertain you till the last bit.
Thank you for reading and please, as I stated at the beginning: let me know what I did well and what I should improve. read more
