Your opinion sounds a lot like guyver's and mine. Had it not been Shana I would have definitely dropped it. Are you going to watch season 3? I think season 3 would be better if you had just watched season 2, the gap between the seasons was way too long.

I get the thought process behind having multiple recaps for Space Brothers since they switched time slots (and really 51 eps without one is a rarity these days), but damn if it isn't deflating that it appears that next week will also be a recap.

They must have known how much I liked the original they wanted to welcome me there. Embarrassingly I'll probably watch a few episodes if Crunchyroll picks it up.

It's a decent show, felt its pacing was iffy at times as it seemed like they were holding things back more than it should have, but maybe that's how the novel is structured as well. The world setup is quite intriguing but as the show got towards the latter stages, my interest level waned a tad as it went in a direction I didn't expect but that could just be me. Though it appears business is about to pick up as the end arrives, so shall see where they go with it.
I'd say check out the first handful eps and see if it clicks for you as it's not abjectly horrible or anything like that. It's a lot of setup in the beginning but it makes sense given the setting. Some of my qualms may be mitigated by not having to wait a week between eps so that's a potential benefit for not watching yet.
On a side note, Binbougami ga! is a nice fun show, was surprised at that but it managed to make the wacky comedy not be too overbearing and some of the references are just fantastic.

Wow they should have just taking a hiatus instead of having that awful filler arc from before. It's only a good cliff hanger if they come back and not leave us hanging forever :P.

Yeah I read that this morning. Kind of a weird time to end, unless they ran into the end of the manga again and like you said didn't want seasons of filler arcs. A movie would make sense. Gintama is also ending again in March, I think they've also ran out of material from the manga.
