About lisnoire
Probably older than anyone at this site. No, not a pervert or troll. Just looking for intelligent conversation about the art form of anime..

Actually, the show that started me wasn't anime at all but an animated series from the mid 1960's called Jonny Quest. It was the first action/adventure cartoon featuring reasonably realistic people I had seen and I was captivated. It even aired in the early evening and not on Saturday morning! I also liked some early super hero cartoons so when, as an adult, I discovered true Japanese anime at a Science Fiction convention in the mid '80's I was hooked.

Being a late life baby, I had to deal with elderly parents at an earlier age than most. It was during that time that I rediscovered Anime on TV. It had come a long way. I established contact with other grown up anime fans who gave me their old vhs fan subs. Then Netflix started offering good titles for rent as did another rental service called Anime-Takeout. I have to say, anime was a real blessing while I was taking care of my mother. I now have a fairly fast computer, high speed internet, a 26" monitor that pivots toward the couch, and a wireless mouse that makes watching anime on line a real pleasure.

I've been watching anime for a long, long . . . . long time and revel in the deep, complex stuff. But then I'm a mutant who loves history, quantum theory, spiritual philosophy, art, cats, horses, cars, aircraft . . .

Random Friend Requests -- Although I am generally "friendly," I'm really not in to the "friend request" thing. If you have a specific question or a topic of discussion, please do post or message me. I enjoy that but I am not into random, banal, chit-chat.

Romance Suggestions

Stuff I really, really like
Stuff that's fine/o.k.
Stuff I generally don't care for (There are exceptions to every "rule"

Great Female Characters
Some of my favorite Male Characters

- Characters that have reached the utmost levels of manliness.
- When a male character is so manly that otherwise straight male viewers find themselves attracted to him, they are said to be "GAR" for the character.
- One's own sense of manliness pales in comparison.
- Character has the power to bring manly tears for the viewer (through either a speech brimming with awsomeness, a manly death, the end of the series, all of these combined etc.).

-My Dad would say, "That guy has muscles in his sh*t."

My favorite "GAR" guys

Thx for all the great recommendations with genres around the forums! Are you active somewhere else or you don't have the time to post anymore?

Excellent mysteries list posted on the forums. It's also my favourite genre in anime and there are a couple that I've overlooked in there ...

I remember you used to reply to my threads a lot a while back, and the only reason I remember you is because of how much anime you've seen and the sheer enormity of your list compared to mine.

It kind of saddens me that you've seemingly gone MIA :\

I guess you've achieved a life better than one on MAL, which is probably a good thing, lol. If you think this is creepy in any way, I apologise; it's 3 AM here and I'm starting to get sentimental and delirious...

hello, i have read over a lot of your profile and i enjoy how refreshing it is to see someone who has such a passion and well-formed opinion on older anime. I really respect your tastes. I have been trying to get back into some of the better 90's anime lately. I was also shocked to see someone on here who even knew what Johnny Quest was. I watched it when I was younger.

I have been scouring your Romance Suggestions list to find something new to watch. If an anime has no semblance of romance I can't really get interested (any little bit of romance is good). I would really like a good fantasy or sci fi romance to watch. Something similar to Escaflowne or Utena since I loved both of them. If you have time, could you recommend me a few titles that you think were the best?
