Hello!
I'm from California and have been watching anime since 2012. I can enjoy any genre of anime, as long as the quality is good and the story has content that can keep me hooked. I do have a preference of course; I'm a sucker for a good romance anime (and harems). I'm also a fan of slice-of-life, comedies, drama, and adventure shows. (I am also Isekai fantasy power trash... sometimes)
I like reading source material, specifically playing VNs. I'm a visual type of person, and because of this playing VNs is usually very satisfying. The difference between source material and anime adaptions doesn't really bother me, but some people like to spark debate about it.
I rate my shows very generously, without much thought to it. I honestly feel like I should work harder to give shows more accurate ratings, because it would help me learn to appreciate a show better. The most important factor, though, comes from this question: Is this fun to watch? Is it enjoyable? Does it keep me on the edge of me seat, or bury me into it from emotional impact, or have me slapping my knee every minute? I know a lot of people love to sit and critique a show, pick it apart and find every flaw or every perfection. That's cool, I respect that. I don't really have time for that, so I tend to look at the general picture, and figure out if the individual components create a cohesive and seamless show. Whatever may be the case, everyone should have their own way of enjoying anime!
アニメについて好きなもの: Good character interaction, soundtracks, and world building, danderes and tsunderes
アニメについて嫌いなもの: Terrible trope usage, deus ex machinas (unless you're literally deus ex machina. Looking at your Mirai Nikki), poor plot pacing, yanderes, socially awkward weebs, spoilers
