I rid myself of the .dlls suggested but all the warning messages are still in Japanese... or they would be but since my OS is in English they just show unreadable symbols *(&(*#&$(@*#&$ like that. and i'm kinda confused about phnetics and the user dictionary

I'm glad that you found the club. There are quite a few in the club that study it that I'm sure are willing to chat (myself included).
I've been studying Japanese on my own since September 2008. So this would be month 8 I'm going into. Unfortunately I'm not anywhere that I'd like to be with it, but there's nothing I can do about it except keep going. Don't ask me what JLPT level I am, because I don't know, and I'm probably not even able to pass level 4 since my learning has been a natural approach to it through readings and listening.
Join the club, and please do have fun. :)
