It was really convincing when I saw this series had only 9 episodes. I dived in with curiosity ,but, what a mistake that was. The series had 9 episodes, 9 episodes of sheer boredom, hatred and utter anger that felt like 13.5 billion years!
Story: (7) The story was a top notch. A world with two sides, one is the Heavens, where Heavenly beings reside and other is the Lower World, where humans dwell. The story would've been really great if executed well. But here and there, the parts didn't fit well. Although it involved magic and fantasy, I felt nothing of the kind. And the story gets more thrashing by the poor characters. It was more like people beaming each other, more like a sci-fi.
Character: (3) Poor, really poor. I add 80% characters of an anime to my hate-list. The main female character, Yumemi, is rather annoying and weak and a misfit for the main character. And the only development she gets is her annoyance level. But it is only the last episode she look "cool". And the male lead, Munto, he is great. He has a decent development and a good character. Most side characters are annoying where as few are lovable. But its only a 9 episode. so don't expect much development.
Art: (8) Nice, decent. The animation is pleasing and I don't have anything good or bad to say about the art. But sometimes, the art didn't fit the story well
Sound: Opening is decent, Ending is great. The background music fits well and sounds good. But all problem comes with the voice acting. The characters' sound was poorly executed, lack of emotion and other faults among the voice acting. Some parts were unbearable
Enjoyment: I enjoyed some party of the series. Not all, only some part. Overall, it was average. It took me more than a week to finish just 9 episodes.
I don't recommend the series for a shounen-loving or intelligent-anime lovers. Its a great series of fantasy and as I said, the story is REALLY good but poorly executed. If you wan't to spend a weekend, give this anime a try. although I don't recommend it.

If you're looking for a suspense slice-of-life with some good art and decent characters, Bakuman is the perfect series for you.
I began to watch this anime at first mainly because it was written by the creators of Deathnote and it was about mangakas, whom I was really interested in. With all honesty in mind, this series is an entertaining one. A series continuing a story about mangakas with such suspense is quite a piece of work.
In words, this series is not describable. It doesn't seem appealing, but once you begin to watch it. its a really addicting series.Though the series has its flaws.
The good side:
-good delivery of the story
-the suspense it creates
-the story line
-the art
There isn't really a "bad" side to this anime. Its art and sound are done in a very neat manner, average and above. I have to praise the art style of Tsugumi Ohba and the anime adaption of it. The sounds are eh..I felt only one opening watch catchy enough but given that this is a slice-of-life series, there isn't much to that.
This series is well above average, a very excellent one. Everything about the series is just good, but its not in the level of a "masterpiece". It just doesn't appeal well at face value but once you get into it, its just one good story with a suspense that goes over the top.

There has always been animes about achieving big goals and becoming cool and all. Becoming hokage, king of the pirates and such, we have always seen in anime world. What makes Uchuu Kyoudai different is its realistic approach on a unique dream. Things like becoming hokage and king of the pirates does sound cool, but they don't sound as realistic or interesting after a while.
Uchuu Kyoudai presents us a much more realistic story, something unique and something more real than the alchemist brothers wanted. The space brothers in this series shares a deep bond, something so simple yet so interesting. The main story revolves around the idea of becoming an astronaut, going to space, attempting to keep an old promise and trying to become an ideal brother. We see Mutta Nanba trying hard to become an astronaut, trying hard in this harsh reality to catch up with his younger brother Hibito.
Perhaps what I personally liked the most about the series is the characters. The characters are define so well with their background, their story and their feelings that you want to root for of all them. The interactions between the characters and their way of getting along each other is quite interesting to watch, something that is very impressive.
The art for the series is plain. The characters are drawn modestly, nothing exaggerated (except the afro), simple and realistic. Backgrounds are well defined and the animation is average for the time.
The music and sounds are ok/very good. While the openings and endings are average wise, the sound tracks are very well done, specially the main theme.
Personally, I really enjoyed the series as far as giving it a overall of 8.5/10. The story, characters and art goes along very well, presenting a very nice series. Honestly, there are a little things that could have been better, but the story become better and better every episode you watch.
I would conclude this review by saying that Uchuu Kyoudai is really a "must watch" series. The story gets better and better every episode. It is a series you must give a chance. read more
