I'm a college junior who has been going around the anime/manga metaphorical block since the seventh grade. I've devoured tons of manga and most of the better-known anime. The only genres I avoid are horror, tragedy, mecha (I love AI robots, just not giant ones people control), ecchi, and hentai. I have seen way more tropes than I care to think about, and they've kind of grown repellant to me (one of the reasons why I can only read a handful of shoujo manga nowadays). I loooove good plot and character development, and will exceed my genre limitations to read anything with it. Since high school, I've started really hating romance stories, which makes a lot of manga and anime very unfun for me. Straight romances are especially bad (since my aversion to romancy things has to do with the way society and media pressures you and reinforces the (totally not true) idea that you can't be happy if you're not in love, and that being in a relationship is the best thing ever.) Besides manga and anime, I like reading sci-fi and fantasy books, as well as webcomics. I have some of my art on my tumblr page, that's been linked. I'm super new to this site and to anime forums in general, and I really hope this wasn't a bad idea.
I've almost given up on anime and manga, and now find webcomics and videogames wayy better, but I still dabble...
