(includes spoilers) Thanks for taking the time to write a review of "Ikigami: The Ultimate Limit", as it drew my attention to this manga, outside of the fantasy and sci-fi genres I usually read. I would have to disagree with your plot analysis, though, that these deaths only involved 365 people dying a year. If history started taking a different path in Japan following WW 2, we wouldn't know what the population today would be ... the effects of living in a dystopia could have a psychological impact that could impact birthrates ... but assuming the same population as in our time-line, the 1 in every 1000 that were infected in childhood would be dying at a rate of 4,200 per year. Further, those who complained about the regime, a so-called "thought crime", were infected with a guaranteed dose. If only 3 of every 1000 were guilty of "thought crimes", they would be dying at a rate of 74,200 per year ... arguably a bigger deal than if they were just being brainwashed.

Dude GREAT review on Ikigami, only I'd rate it so much higher. It's amazingly drawn, intellegent, and emotional. Incredbly gripping at times, at other times thrilling, yet at other times slowly paced with great drama, and always thought provoking. I agree with what you say are the flaws, but I still rate it much higher then that. Anyway your review was very well written, and I think it would make others interested in the title. Nice Job!
