About itsubun
Hullo, I'm itsubun.

I'm too lazy to keep this thing up to date with my most recent otaku activities. So I'll stick to tacking on series and ratings as I finish them.

I had neither, but you're a cool cat, so I got me GTalk. The username's Kaiserpingvin [at] gmail [dot] com.

:3

Okay disregard my former confusion, I was merely not intelligent enough to see what our blogroll said about you until now. So yeah, that was Pontifus see, the well-read one of us.

Do I need to read T.S. Eliot now? ;w;

Kaiserpingvin | 06-27-08, 7:37 AM
Also, must add this, just read through your older posts too, and I must say, you're teh winzors. You even made me want to read Kodomo no Jikan.

Kaiserpingvin | 06-27-08, 6:44 AM
I did? I'm rather impressed I did, as I did not intend to and have no ability to, as I know nothing of Eliot. Mayhaps it was IKnight/Leuconoe/TheAnimanachronism/Daniel (he really should settle for a single one)?

Wait... What's with that smile? And those read glowing eyes! Why are you...!

...My annoying toyloving replacement character will catch you.

Thanks, and by thanks I mean I hope you bump into a tree, get caught by the taiyaki seller, and fade away. ALONE.

I was flicking through the "Complete Guide to Manga" last night and happened across Dragon Head. The plot synopsis was interesting and the art looked lovely (in a weird way), anyway, I figured you'd be reading it and you are, so, opinions? Any good? :)

:D MASTER!! *bow*

Just finished reading it. Loved it. Love your impeccably awesome manga taste too kthx.

On my second (close) reading now, and it's amazing how this holds up so well under scrutiny. It's like a Mobius Strip in story form! <3 and all that jazz.

Leuconoe | 05-11-08, 12:40 AM
My connection with Greece is a bit more accidental than study - my parents have some longstanding Greek friends, so I sort of grew up visiting Greece and Greeks every year. This did lead to me studying (Classical) Greek at school, though I gave it up at the age of sixteen, and also reading a great deal of their literature, so I suppose that's kind of an effect rather than a cause.

Leuconoe | 05-10-08, 3:04 AM
Hey, thanks for the comment on my sideblog. I think I chose the Laocoön as a comparison because it's been held up as Art's Greatest Moment Evar in the past and, while I don't think it is that, and I don't think you can objectively compare a manga to a sculpture, it does carry the air of veneration and the history which justifies the description of a 'prodigous achievement'. I suppose I was probably being a bit unfair in sending up a moment of hyperbole; Watashiya has certainly achieved more than your standard Generic Shounen Saga #113.

At the end of the day, I think SSE made the right decision, but quite possibly for the wrong reasons - I noticed that your use of the word 'racism' drew a fairly strong response on THAT blog, and perhaps it's too strong a term, but there's definitely a clash between very different cultural mores happening. I imagine you may have read it already, but if you haven't, Skala's article on KnJ and the US legal system's attitude to children is very interesting.

Anyway, I apologise for the massive comment, and thankyou again for your own comment and indeed your original post on KnJ.
