I don't hate Mahouka or love it, I just don't get bored watching it. What now?

Thank you for the great review on Mahouka. And you don't need to reply to someone like jakkubus.

Tatsuya and Lelouch only have one trait in common and it's that they are both intelligent. Other than that they are nothing alike and completely different characters

You maybe an invalidcharacter, but you make a valid " Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei" review.

In psychological terms both Mahouka MCs are very flat and liking them wont change it. The most funny thing is that side characters are fine and likeable.

And can you tell me, what you like so much about Mahouka story? Because actually there was no story in first two arcs.

Tatsuya may have some similarities to Lelouch, but they are entirely different. The latter one in fact is cold and calculating tactical genius, who would do anything to protect his sister, but he is still weak human. His Geass is powerful, but very limited, so he must be very cautious, when he is fighting strong opponents. Also when he cannot use it, he is just physically weak human. Lelouch is also average Knightmare pilot and layman engineer. On the other hand we have Tatsuya, who, aside from being great in tactics, is world class magical engineer, world's strongest magician and super duper HtH combatant, when his secret identity is protected by entire country. That guy has no weakness and is pure wish-fulfillment. Also there is no point comparing Miyuki and Nunnally, because the former one, despite being one of the strongest characters in series, is just decoration without any free will or autonomy. She is just Tatsuya's accessory, when Nunnaly is weak and needs protection, yet she tries to play her own game.

Well, Tatsuya also seems to be similar to some other nice characters like Sora from NGNL, Saitama from Onepunch Man or Medaka from Medaka Box, but they are comedy characters, played for laughs. And Mahouka is completely serious.

About story, IMO Mahou Sensou wins here, because in 18 aired episodes of Mahouka, there is no major story.

Hm, the art definitely isn't where the series shines. It mimics the old Hunter x Hunter style with a fresher feel and look to it, so it does have many art traits you'd expect from an older series.
This being said, if memory serves me right the show starts out making you think it is another dragon ball knock off, even with a young male lead with a similar name and some similar characteristics to Goku in dragon ball; this is of course before it goes down a completely different path. Hope you enjoy it!

Well, both series are about magical high school, politics and brother complex. I wasn't denying, that Mahouka is better one, but noticing, that they are on the similar leagues of development.

First, characters. In Mahou Sensou almost all of them are just bad, but not terrible, when in Mahouka we have some nice characters (e.g. Erika) and some awful and boring (Shiba siblings). Characters written by Satou are undeveloped in anime, because all attention is focused on Tatsuya, who is spotlight blackhole. Also all world rules are bended to his will. There are introduced some magic limitations, that no one can handle, and then Tatsuya just casually bypass them.
When we are talking about characters, we should also notice antagonists. Here Mahous Sensou outclasses Mahouka. Shiba's enemies are just flat and retarded, when in other work, they have some personality.

Second, story. Well, there is no major plot in first two arcs of Mahouka. In Mahou Sensou there is at least some primary conflict.

Third, I havent noticed Mahouka surpassing MS very much in terms of sound and art, but it's matter of taste.

I saw your review on Mahouka and thought I'd recommend a series to you! Mahouka is, as you put it, slow paced and methodical. There are no emotional power ups. Hunter x Hunter (2011) is just as slow paced, detail oriented, and methodical! Several episodes could by with only a couple minutes of "action" taking place in the show since the explain just about every thought process that goes through each character's minds. It starts out seeming to be your standard shounen adventure and soon garners a darker side (evident in both the characters' development and the route the plot takes.) It is a show that has a well developed set of rules than are never broken, there is always a price paid for any power gained and if a main character wasn't strong enough to win a fight at the start of a fight, he will damned well lose the fight. The quest the main character sets out on is fairly endearing and seems a bit more realistic than most shounen shows where they are trying to save the world; similar to code geass and FMA brotherhood Gon is doing it all for his family, although perhaps in a bit darker side of the spectrum.
Anyways, I think you'd like this show if you gave it a try and I hope you enjoy it if you do see it. As a side note about the series, there is no dub. This being said, I found the original seiyuus to have done a good job throughout the series. Also, most of the thought processes and the such that are explained in the show is done through a narrator. If you can't stand that method of story telling or only like dubs you might not like this series.

Why so different reviews of Mahou Sensou and Mahouka? After all both shows are similiar.
