BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Get to know hounddog in ten minutes or less.

The Basics Cate, female, 24, oldest of two children, grad student, in lovvvvvve, grew up in NJ, now living in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, Pisces.

Watching anime for... a long time? Actually, not so long. Only got "serious" about it in the last year or two. I think the first series I ever followed via fansubs was Ouran High School Host Club, but I could be mistaken.

Likes series with... lots of violence/gore/sex, boys kissing boys, Crispin Freeman, interesting stories, philosophicating, strong and quiet leading men, chicks with brains (and guns), badass villians, loveu-loveu-love. Subject to exception and exemption at whim.

Hates series with... lolis, squeaky and high-pitched voices, blatant and overbearing and just generally retarded metaphor (I'm talking to YOU, Death Note!), high school slice of life and/or romance (most of the time), cat ears/tails, dialogue that's supposed to philosophical but can't pull it off to save its own life (ahem, Pumpkin Scissors), mindless ecchi fanservice. Subject to exception and exemption at whim.

Also enjoys... writing, good dubs, making out with my boyfriend, fat Beagles, cats who are insane, bad horror movies, ponies, making out with boyfriend, bourbon, reading (especially short stories and historical fiction), music of all kinds, snow, strolling about, hooded sweatshirts, diet Pepsi, campy romance novels, making lists, napping, thunderstorms, Firefly/Serenity, chocolate, bloopers and outtakes, tequila, playing the Wii, not doing homework, making fun of roomie, water, road trips, board games, and...MAL.

Hey, personal invitation (because I remember you having Haruko Nagoya art as your profile pic at one point)--

I just started a yaoi image board. (connected to my site for my art)

I would love it if you joined :)

That sounds pretty cool too, if you're into plays and such. I don't have enough class to appreciate that sort of thing, but if there's booze... =D

Not sure. I'd have a hard time calling myself a Ghibli fan though... I mean, I did really enjoy those few films, but I absolutely hated about everything else I've tried. I think that makes me about as neutral as Switzerland.

ampburner | 08-26-09, 5:07 PM
@hounddog - You tell him! I keep trying, but he won't listen!

@Krelian - Ponyo is super cute but has flimsy nonsensical plot (which doesn't matter, since it's a movie for kids about fishes and love. If you're looking for this movie to make sense, you're looking in all the wrong places)

I'm failry sure it's not your thing but I could be wrong.

Krelian | 08-26-09, 6:06 AM
We've only got the one, but it's pretty sweet. There's some sort of theater/restaurant type place on the other side of town too (as opposed to theater/hippie pizza joint) but I've never been by there. Maybe one day you'll get lucky and one will open up nearby.

Haven't seen Ponyo, and I wasn't really planning on it. It's pretty rare that I like a Ghibli film - so far just Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle that I can remember.

Krelian | 08-22-09, 4:05 AM
Heh, yeah, it's kinda scary what passes for commonplace in this day and age, isn't it?

Maybe you ought to start it over too then - I'm pretty sure all the chapters are available by now.

=P I guess I'm just cheap. I mean, I like watching movies quite a bit, but it's rare for me to get excited enough about one that I need to see it before it hits the "Brew 'n View" (not sure if I mentioned the place, but it's a local pizza joint and brewery that shows movies for cheap after they leave the big theaters) - that's where I saw Star Trek too. I suppose I'd see more movies in theaters if I had a social life, but those are time consuming and expensive.

Krelian | 08-21-09, 8:19 AM
Heh, yeah, you have a point. The only thing I found particularly shocking about that one was the oddness of it all - writing out a whole professional-sounding contract and such.

As for Doubt, I've read a bit, but then I figured I'd put it off until it finished and just haven't picked it up since. I remember it was pretty interesting, but can't really recall what was going on. I might have to just start back at the beginning.

I can't think of anything in the near future I'm particularly excited about... I mean, I find plenty of things I'd like to watch, but not so many I'm excited about $8 tickets and the price of movie popcorn for hehe. Shutter Island looks promising though, and there are a fair few movies out now that I'd like to catch since I have a gift certificate to blow. Speaking of which, I saw Star Trek the other day and was quite pleasantly surprised.

Krelian | 08-21-09, 7:19 AM
That's more like it =P Seriously though, did I show that to you before? I was pretty stunned when I first came across that thing. It's like the guy wants to force his wife to obey him, but doesn't actually have the balls to do it, so he figures a contract will make things easier. There are some creepy people around, that's for sure.

6 chapters are all I've seen, and since Hellsing is over and done with I'm getting pretty irritated by the lack of progress too. Sanctuary really is interesting, even without its poignant commentary on gender relations. All the scheming and plotting makes for an exciting read.

The birthday was fun indeed - much better than last year, definitely. I didn't get any toys, but I did get some money and a gift certificate for the movie theater. I don't get out much now that I'm always broke, so a chance to see some movies is much appreciated.

pammy88 | 08-20-09, 12:47 PM
your welcome ^^

pammy88 | 08-20-09, 11:06 AM
haha love your pic so cute.

Krelian | 08-17-09, 9:10 PM
I never saw that part written in the contract. Making revisions is against the rules,y'know. =P

Vinland Saga isn't over... I just caught up to whatever chapter was the last to be scanlated is all. And yeah, you really ought to finish up with Hellsing. I wish they'd get on with the prequel already... I found the first few chapters ages ago, but I've never seen anything further. Speaking of manga, by the way, I stumbled on a few other pretty enjoyable series. You should check out Sanctuary (great political/crime drama) and Akumetsu (more political, and reminds me a touch of Geass in some aspects). Be warned though, the former can be pretty sexist at times. I found those parts pretty funny in an absurdly over-the-top sort of way (for instance, apparently all it takes to dissuade a powerful, attractive and determined congresswoman is a good fuck). Maybe I ought to run for office... *scratches chin*

Anyway, no need to apologize - I sometimes forget my own birthday, and find it damn near impossible to remember anyone else's (my brother not included - I guess being there for the big day made an impact). Besides, I'm 90% sure I've already forgotten your birthday at least once.

Krelian | 08-05-09, 9:50 PM
Heh, well, having some furniture does make a big difference over a bunch of empty floor space, ne? Enjoying the couch so far?

Exploiting, huh? That's a very 'married' choice of words if I do say so myself. But I can't say I blame you. I mean, even if it isn't something I'd bumble through, it's always better to put someone else to work instead. =P

I actually watched all of Michiko to Hatchin. After I got over my disappointment (I was expecting it to be more like Cowboy Bebop or Samurai Champloo - i.e. a good bit more action), I really enjoyed it. It's definitely worth watching the rest of. I've been downloading Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, but I haven't watched any yet. I'll have to make a point to check it out. I'm watching some anime, but I've mostly just been reading manga lately. I finally caught up on Vinland Saga, which was pretty damn amazing, and I've been trying to scarf up some other good action/fantasy/historical type stuff like Ubel Blatt and Ares. Good times. I also came across a shameless ripoff of Hellsing called Jack Frost, but I haven't really decided whether I like it or not yet.

BaseBallBear | 08-02-09, 2:37 AM
Stop agreeing. No, seriously ;)

How does it feel to have a place of your own? (Sigh... she's all grown up). Yeshh... I'm currently stalking the amazing adventures of Josie WITHOUT Seb. Adorable kitty, by the way. How old is she?

Krelian | 07-26-09, 2:03 PM
It's funny how subjective old is when it comes to things like that, huh? Though I guess I'm a bit jealous of your friend, being well off enough to replace furniture before it falls apart. Anyway, congrats =D

Heh, well, I'd be a bit surprised if you weren't glued together for at least a month or two, since you haven't been able to see each other so often before. Sounds like you're making pretty good progress in your relationship if you've already got a list of handyman chores for him and he isn't even there yet - you're practically married already hehe

I watched most of the episodes of Kurozuka over the course of a day or two, and I doubt it made much more sense to me than it did to you. Crazy indeed. I wasn't all that big on the ending either, but I liked the series alright on the whole. And yeah, do check out Inukami - I think you'd appreciate the humor. It's kind of like a generic ecchi comedy deal, turned on its head.

Krelian | 07-21-09, 9:40 AM
Hah, I wish I had room for side tables, even if they don't recline. The house just isn't big enough for all the furniture we've got. The one table we do have is really more of a bench, and it's at the perfect height where the dog's tail knocks anything fragile to the floor =/ But yeah, long live free furniture =D The only thing I don't like is not being able to have a cohesive style (my couches are very blue, for instance, and wouldn't really fit with any color scheme or decor that I'd want) - but that doesn't matter to me at this point and it's a small trade off for free stuff.

I imagine it'll be pretty exciting after Joe gets there, huh? =P But yeah, I guess a healthy relationship of any sort needs a decent balance of togetherness and time apart... especially after you're together long enough for the excitement of something new and different to wear off.

Surprising, isn't it? I'm actually a pretty accommodating guy most of the time. And I've been reading a fair bit of manga anyway, so I ended up just doing that rather than booting them off my TV. As for new stuff... lessee, I finally finished Xam'd, and Kurozuka (which was pretty good if you get past the weirdness and the not making much sense most of the time). I'm not sure if you'd like Sengoku Basara though - it's all testosterone and absurdity (giant robot samurai, horses with motorcycle handlebars and exhaust pipes, fighting with six swords all at once, etc.) packed into feudal Japan. You might like Inukami though - I found it to be pretty damn hilarious.
