About hiruma55

Running in the rain, we all love doin' it!

I'm just a dude who likes hangin around and havin' fun. I love sketching and video-games, I've been gaming since the mid-90s and I'm a huge fan of the Sonic the Hedgehog, Mario Kart, Legend of Zelda and Super Smash Bros. series'.

Check out my artwork on http://dude446.deviantart.com

My first encounter with anime was by chance when watching Sky One where I found Pokemon, it was unlike anything I'd ever seen before. Before I knew it, I was singing the theme song, bought the Red version on my Gameboy and had a big poster in my room. Other anime I watched at that point was: Sailor Moon, Flint the Time Detective, Monster Rancher and Digimon and in 1999 I found the ultimate anime that would change my life forever... Dragon Ball Z!! I dunno what it was but it stole my heart from episode 1! Around that time I also watched Gundam Wing, Beyblade, Escaflowne, Shinzo, Tenchi Muyo and Ultimate Muscle. Now I watch anime online and all is good with the world.

DragonBall, my favourite anime series period!

THE KAMEHAMEHA... SO BADASS!

Drown your sorrows in your pleasures, and ignore the world that wishes to replace you...

Yea you should read it from the start. The manga starts off a little different when it came to how they met up with the skull guys.

Duuuuuuuuude! I've just been looking around to see if any anime movies were going to be shown between now and christmas in cinemas over here, and Summer Wars has been showing all week. You know, that new movie by the guy who did The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. The last showings in England seem to be tomorrow, I can't believe it! If I would have known I would have gone without hesitation. :P And to top it off Ponyo has been showing all week as well. D'oh!

It's nice to see we share a little more manga now. Hopefully it won't take you too many years to finish 20th Century Boys.

I also see you added Blue Drop to your plan to watch list. I haven't seen it, but am familiar with the opening song. It's sung by Suara, who also did Utawarerumono's opening. She's great, you should check out her stuff.

See you space cowboy.

i forgot to ask you one thing, do you want the 3 mangas that i have, or just the last one that i was putting on GT??

Alboretti | 11-16-09, 10:34 AM
i'll put them all together and sent it to you

Touka | 11-10-09, 2:26 PM
So are you basically asking how 2009 has been? It's had its ups and downs, but overall its been a good year I think. Nothing really stands out about it though, however I did make a lot of good discovers this year, film, anime and manga-wise. I do believe I have gained a lot of knowledge this year as well, and I was able to complete one of the things I wanted to do before I die - watch the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy pretty much back-to-back. Although I have yet to watch the extended editions back-to-back. That comes next year. How has your 2009 been? By the way man, my top fifty movies list is coming along swimmingly.

Alboretti | 11-10-09, 11:10 AM
yeah, is a good exploring game, just like metroid.
hajime no ippo is the fight one right?? is that good? i have plan to watch it

if you want, i can upload all them in a zip file in megaupload and send you the link, so you'll be able to finish your read

Alboretti | 11-10-09, 11:00 AM

I tend to say in other news a lot when I'm moving on to a new topic on the cyberweb. The Magnificent Seven is a western remake of Kurosawa's Seven Samurai. Kurosawa seems to have influenced everything, even A Bug's Life! He sued the director of A Fist Full of Dollars because it was a copy of his film, haha. He sent a letter to the director saying "I have just had the chance to see your film. It is a very fine film, but it is my film. Since Japan is a signatory of the Berne Convention on international copyright, you must pay me." Aparrently the director was so hyped that Kurosawa said his movie was 'a fine film' that he went around showing everyone the letter.

Thats what I was thinking! Alon's director is foreign, but still European. Aparrently in Sarah's mind the world doesn't stretch beyond America and Europe. What a fool. Kubrick is good n'all but Mike knows I hated The Shining back on his course and Sarah knows I bum Japanese media. I deserve Kurosawa!

Touka | 11-05-09, 12:38 PM
My life does now have one point of failure - both you and Alon are able to watch avi files on your TV and I can't. Although I do have my own computer in my room so I guess I can't complain. But our DVD Player cost a bomb, it was one of the first recordable ones. They could have at least installed a usb port.

In other news - I've become obsessed with Akira Kurosawa (director of Seven Samurai). I was writing about that auteur thing and was like hang on... Akira Kurosawa is an auteur! I have now been researching his films for a full hour haha. Turns out he is the greatest filmmaker of all time influence wise. Without him there would have been no Fist Full of Dollars, no Magnificent Seven and even no Star Wars! He also greatly infleuced Geroge Lucas (who makes numerous references to Kurosawa in his films), Spielberg, Polanski, Tarantino, John woo, Takeshi Kitano, Spike Lee, Martin Scorsese and a ton more. Martin Scorsese, Geroge Lucas and Spielberg even personally funded some of his films and Scorsese even stars in one. I wish I got Akira Kurosawa as my director.

Oh my god have you read that university booklet?

- On average how much more do graduates earn than those without a degree?
- How can going to university make you better equipped for employment?
- What new life changing experiences can university offer?
- What other advantages exist for those that got to university?

It's basically saying that university is amazing and the best thing ever to go into after college, otherwise you suck.

Touka | 11-02-09, 11:39 AM
DUDE! I just realised we totally missed the BONES and Sword of the Stranger talk at the expo. Noooooooooo! I wanted to ask the directors interpretation of the ending. If only they gave us a damn booklet I would have remembered it was on! Why must this happen!?

Don't worry man I'll check out Robotech eventually. I want to see it before the film is out anyway. I've noticed its taken you an extremely long time to watch it though. Didn't you buy that huge Robotech boxset like two years ago and you're still working through it? :P
