Lemonade (Manga) add
I wandered into this anime while looking for a new Shoujo Ai to read. What I got was unexpected gentle and sweet.

Lemonade isn't your typical shoujo ai romance. In many ways it feels like a "slice of life" anime, yet it focuses almost entirely on the character development. It does not get hung up on side plots or trivial characters. You see world from Youko's point of view. You listen to her thoughts and reactions and often times have the same reaction.

The artwork and charcter styles are simple. However, the artists does a great job at conveying emotions. ...

I finally watched this movie after having owned it for years. I had no idea what to expect. The opening music is delightful and the artwork is impressive. From the start the story takes on a very intimate feel. The setting is very cozy without much noise to distract you. That is because the focus of the story is on a much smaller world.

The story is simple with only a few central characters. The story is also quite slow and takes time to develop. This does not leave much time to show you much of the Borrower's world. ...

Mixed Feelings
Ugh. This was a tough one to finish. I've never played the video game but a friend lent me this, so I watched it in its entirety. I didn't even know it was a space themes anime until I got a ways into it.

I'm a sucker for space sci-fi. That is why I enjoyed this anime at all. The story was weak and farfetched and the character dialog and interactions were surreal and shallow. Don't expect much. If you like scifi, just enjoy it for its simplicity.

Yumeria (Anime) add
Preliminary (4/12 eps)
Take any ecchi, sci-fi anime, remove ALL of the story and character depth, and you get Yumeria. This is anime was produced solely to fill the dead space between commercials. To put another way, don't waste your time.

Blue Gender (Anime) add
This anime seemed like it had a lot of potential, but ended up being a let down. The premise is that the earth's been taken over by gigantic bugs bent on killing all the humans. The humans flee to a space station called second earth, but eventually come back to pick up humans called sleepers who were in cryo until that time. That's where the anime starts off a it's quite an intriguing story.

However, this anime's storyline lacked direction in a major way. I enjoyed the pace and the characters seemed deep enough. However, the characters end up being fairly ...

I really enjoyed this anime, but that does not mean it was a very good production. There's is a lot that could have been done to improve the story telling and characters. Perhaps the director was limited by the amount of episodes since the story seemed rushed. A couple things stuck with me after I had finished.

First, the protagonist, Sara Werec is memorable enough. She's your typical space drama lead character who is innocent but for some tragic reason is thrown into space to fight. Based on her personality it's impossible to not feel sympathetic towards her character so you ...

Girl Friends (Manga) add
This manga is not easy to read, but it's worth it. If you like shoujo-ai, gather your courage and dive in. You will not regret it.

The author does a masterful job of including the subtleties of romance and love; so much so that you feel it.

The story is simple as are the supporting characters, as though they were a painting canvas for this wonderful story of two friends. I like that. Why bother with other complexities when love is so complex already.

When I found this manga, I had no idea what I was getting into. I finished all 35.5 chapters ...
