ANIME

My first anime was the Macross Plus movie. Then came Goldenboy and Toonami on cartoon network. I've only recently gotten back into watching anime since there are only a few good sources for it. It's pretty time consuming with 26 to 50 episodes or even 167 like Inuyasha. I have no patience.
I've had my share of disapointing animes as well. Berserk had a great start but the end was a joke. Ghost in the Shell 2 was a little to much of a head trip. G Gundam was a little to goofy to be considered a real gundam series.
Harems have been my thing lately because of their light going nature. After Blood+ and Elfen Lied I needed something with humor. I should learn to watch something funny after a depressing anime. Love Hina was my very first harem and the only english dub I can't stand.

What I look for in an anime.
-Good theme music
-Lack of jerk characters (Holland from Eureka Seven)
-50 episodes or less
-Balance of action and friendship/love story
-Low amount of fillers
-Reasonable amount of characters (Negima had too many)
-No corny card games like Pokemon and Yu Gi Oh!
-I love an anime with a sword fight.

Its hard not to compare them to something you hold in such high regard, but at the same time its not a fair comparison ;] Very true tho, the series focuses more on the relationships of the characters then the actual Mechs themselves, tho the mechs still play a key role, especially the Nirvash which I'm fond of since its powers are unleashed through emotion. Damsels in distress are certainly too common in anime, hence why you should check out Black Lagoon! I think Revy would easily become your favorite female character ^_^ Reply

Saya is amazing at first i thought that she'd be the usual girl i really dont like and at first i thought that she'd be too weak to be a lead character but by episode 4/5 i really started to admire her! The animation looks good, and reading the summary here on MAL caught my interest as well. I got a feeling that it'll be a good one to watch once I finish up Trigun and a couple of others. Reply
