Chinatsu no Uta is a story about Chinatsu, a girl with a beautiful singing voice who moves to the country. And that's pretty much it. The rest is slice of life stuff that happens in the town. This is a slice of life manga that deals with some issues faced by people these days. Frustration, guilt, anger, loneliness. The general message is something along the lines of "Not everything in life is perfect. Some sad stuff happens but life moves on."

The odd thing about this manga is that it feels incomplete. It hints at events that happen after the ending of the manga which ... made me question if I truly reached the end or if there was a sequel or something. From what I know this is it, so you're just left hanging. There's no resolution and the ending didn't satisfy me.

Overall it's a pretty good slice of life manga. If you want to read a slice of life manga go ahead and read this. Someone who doesn't like slice of life probably won't like this.

So Mobius Doumei is a manga about a girl who's mom is the chairman of the school. So she's isolated in school and moreover, she has to hide her love of photography. One day while taking random pictures, she learns that her favourite pop idol is actually her two classmates. Then she is forced to work with them to make sure that she doesn't reveal their secret. From there they become friends, the inevitable love triangle happen.

As far as the story goes, it's very average. It focuses on Matsuri's perspective so the whole idol thing doesn't make a difference to the story. It's really ... just a normal highschool love triangle thing. Their situations are a bit different and that plays into the events of the story a little bit but it doesn't deviate from a normal highschool romance.

The characters are what you would expect. The quiet, cool, long haired guy, and the loud, popular, short haired guy. You can feel the originality spewing forth. In addition there's a loud, cutesy, small, possessive character. Again nothing interesting. The main character is the only character that stands out a bit. As mentioned before, she's forced to conform to her mom's ideal and hides her feelings.

Overall this is one of the most average mangas i've read. It's still enjoyable, but nothing stands out. Average manga gets average score. Read this is you have absolutely no idea what to read, otherwise there's better stuff out there.

I want to mention that it's been a little while since I read this so it wasn't the most in depth review ever, but still better than this having no review.

This is a manga about a girl who's parents died in an accident and her sister disappears so she goes to investigate where her sister went. She goes to a school, some stuff happens and boom reverse harem. The rest is her finding her sister.

The characters in this are what you would expect from a reverse harem. Nothing really special other than the main character is pretty strong willed. The most interesting thing about this manga is that it is told completely from the perspective of the main character. What you know about the other characters are only the small things that get revealed to ... the main character. This is totally different from other mangas i've read where you get lots of flashbacks and every character gets a few chapters so you learn all about their characters. Not in this. For example there's a character who used to do kabuki theater, but then stopped and doesn't like talking about it. And that's it. You never find out why he left or really anything else about his character.

As a result you end up in the dark about a decent amount of stuff. You don't even get to know much about the "accident" that killed her parents. You only get told that police said it was an accident but the main character thinks it was murder. You don't get told why she thinks it's murder or the particulars of the accident, you just know that it happened. In addition you are never told how her parents were connected to the conspiracy she unravels. This doesn't hurt the story much, but it leaves you wanting to know more.

Overall I found this very enjoyable the recommend it to anyone interested in shoujo, romance, or reverse harems, and I would have rated it an 8 but the end was to odd it gets knocked down to a 7. When you learn the truth behind the conspiracy you think, "whtat? really? people were killed for this?" If you take a realistic estimate it actually doesn't make sense. If you take best possible case it makes more sense but then you would have to question as to why that place had that particular thing. It's kind of a giant plot hole but other than that, the journey there a bundle of fun. Read it!

Normally I don't review anything that i haven't completed, but I will make this as an exception because I really like it. I think it has a lower score than it deserves and I don't want anyone missing out on this manga because it's really good.

Haruka 17 is about a college student who can't get a job so she lowers her standards and applies for a manager job at s shady looking talent agency. As it turns out, she accidentally auditions as a talent and is forced to work as a talent pretending to be 17 years old.

From the premise, it doesn't sound all that ... unique. There's plenty of mangas about show business. This manga focuses more on the business side of showbiz. The main things that happen are Haruka going to shoots, and learning to become and idol both emotionally and professionally. But what really makes Haruka 17 different is the more adult tone it has about everything. The main character is 22 and almost finished university, not some teenageer. The characters are not portrayed as perfect and wacky,but with faults. Applies to all parts of the manga and set this apart from other generic shoujo/showbiz mangas.

The most obvious way this is showed is through the art. I think this is also why the score for manga is so low. Instead of super cutesy and super tall people, it's more griddy and realistic, and at first it may look ugly to you. I did to me. At one part they mention how cute the main character looks and I thought "really? This is cute? Well... okay, if you say so." But as time went on, it started to look better. I'm not sure if it's because the art style changed or because I started to get used to it, but it stopped bothering me and I actually started liking it.

Overall I found it very enjoyable. At first I was considering dropping it and thinking poorly of the manga, but 10 or so chapters in I found myself very interested in the story and wanting to see what happens next. None of the characters are annoying or whiny. Overall I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a manga about showbiz. Don't drop it immediately and give it a good chance and I'm sure you'll come to love this manga once the story really gets going.

So this is about some guy who's all depressed but is secretly a genius and lives with some girl who takes care of him and loves him. Then he meets this other girl who's angry all the time but is actually insecure on the inside. Throw in some "i knew you when i was a kid" and what do you get? Generic romance manga. But this has a twist, the characters are older and there's a bit of a fairy tale thing going on.

The story progresses really quickly, especially at the end where the ending felt very rushed. In general i found the pacing to ... be kind of off and jumping between events which adds to the feeling of it being rushed.

The obvious themes of this is dealing with the loss of a loved one, but the characters aren't developed enough for you to care. Something happens and all i thought was "oh okay... what's next?" I rarely cared about the characters, and never felt the tension when something bad happens. Most of this can be traced back to the fact everything is rushed.

So overall, pretty generic. It tried to deal with some interesting things but doesn't succeed in sending it's message across very well. I'm not sure who i would recommend this to. Someone who really loves manhwas? Someone who really doesn't know what to read next? It's not bad but there's so much better stuff out there.

Imagine being bullied in grade school for no reason. Having no friends and constantly being picked on and being forced to move away. Then, years later, the person who started all of it confesses to you. You end up with Kimi no Sei.

Then a plan for revenge but what ho? What happens when you start falling in love with this person. And that's it. The rest of the story is the inner turmoil of the main character as she tries to overcome her conflicting feelings of her past, and her present. The story never surprises you, and drama is almost nonexistent, although it does remain ... interesting, at least for the 9 chapters this manga runs. You can really relate to the main character and you're not sure if you should hate or like Takaya.

Overall it's interesting and fun to read and realistic which is really nice, but there's definitely nothing that profound to be found. If you are into shoujo and you've got the time, go ahead and read this, you won't be disappointed. Otherwise, unless you really want to read something about bullying without the extremes of something like Life, you should probably pass.

So this is a mystery, psychological manga which i found to be surprisingly enjoyable. It's short and gets to the point very quickly. The most interesting part are the mental states of the main characters. It kind of reminds me of the twilight zone, where nothing is what it seems.
There's a bit of a twist at the end which is all well and good, but i didn't like how the author went about putting the twist in. It works by only giving you certain information and not the complete picture. And it's not given in any logical manner other than simply to mislead you, ... then at the end it's like "yea this is what actually happened." It's like the story is telling you "look over here, this is going on look!" and then "surprise! Actually this thing over there that you couldn't really see very well was actually going on." In my eyes it's cheating although i suppose it is possible, however unlikely to figure out what's really going on but it's hard when you don't know what's a lie and what's the truth. That's part of the fun but I think the way it goes about it and the fact it's only 5 chapters brings it down to an 8. Still pretty good, definitely worth the read. I would recommend it to anyone, even if you don't like mysteries, trying to figure out what the characters are thinking is really enjoyable, thought provoking, interesting and all that jazz

So Silver is a story about a rich girl who falls in love with her cousin, Charles, who is only after her for her money and proceeds to kill her father after which, she decides to get revenge. The story reminded me of The Count of Monte Cristo. Her life sucks for a bit, she completely changes herself and goes about getting her revenge, but this is more about romance and takes place in modern times.

The pacing of the story seemed about right. It didn't feel rushed and it didn't keep painfully dragging on. The backstory get fleshed out fairly well although I ... thought they should've had more of her father in it. One annoying thing about the story is that whenever the main character gets into really big trouble, someone always conveniently shows up to save her just in the nick of time. It would've been more interesting for her character if she wasn't always saved. But it only happens a couple of times and doesn't really soil overall experience. There are also some strange coincidences, but by manga standards, it's pretty normal and never seems melodramatic or silly.

The characters are all good. I thought the development of the main character was well done, but you only get her perspective. The other characters suffer a bit, one of which you only know as "bad drug dealer girl who killed some people" and that's as far as her character goes. Again, still enjoyable but there was room for more. Also it's a smut manga so you got that too. Most of these scenes are of her "training" to seduce Charles, and her seducing Charles. They're not long, and they fit with the story but they happen frequently.

Overall it was an enjoyable read. Fairly low on the drama, but the story is still compelling and interesting. I was never dieing to find out what happens next but I was interested enough to finish it in one sitting. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys smut or if you really want a story about revenge.

Ashita no Ousama is a story about an average girl who falls in love with theater and discovers a hidden talent. If you're into shoujo manga, this sounds very familiar so when i first started reading this i was afraid it was gonna be another Glass Mask or Skip Beat but i was pleasantly surprised. This manga was not perfect, but a nice read nevertheless.

To touch on the art for a bit, it's from the 90s, so you get what you expect. You get used to it after a bit, but nothing looks particularly pretty. At one point, the main character mentions someone is beautiful ... on a full page panel, and you think "well... if you say so."

As for the plot, it's very similar to Glass Mask, but the twist is that she writes plays instead of acting. Interestingly, there's almost no drama. There's some, but it all gets very quickly resolved. The story focuses on her development as a writer but the manga falls short here. You would expect that with every script she writes, she learns a lesson, discovers something she was missing, and slowly gets good at writing scripts.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. Yuu becomes a good writer exceptionally fast. Everything she does is a success. It never seems that her scripts are missing anything except at one part of the story. When she improves her writing, there is no concrete reason for why. She just kinda gets better with experience, and that's it. And it all happens too fast. You become a good writer with experience, or so i've heard, but she becomes a professional writer in what seemed no time at all. Maybe it's because it's because she's super talented or something but it still feels off.

It all ends up with a surreal feeling. The audience doesn't get any profound insight into writing which is a huge missed opportunity. It's this that keeps me from rating it any higher than an 8.

The characters are all okay. Everyone is pretty pleasant, but there are no strong characters. Everyone is bland and boring. This is related to there not being any drama. None of the character's pasts are explored. characters disappear as quickly as they are introduced. You only the see surface of their characters. Maybe it's because the story is told from Yuu's point of view, and we only see what Yuu views, but it makes it so none of the characters leave any big impressions on you. Even Yuu, her character doesn't go beyond really nice person who doesn't give up.

The ending was okay. It wasn't exactly what i was expecting, and i was a little confused at to whether i had actually finished reading the manga. I found the ending was very open ended. I would have like to see Yuu grow even more and do more plays.

Overall it was enjoyable. Don't thing that i hated it because of this review. If you want to read why it's a good manga, there's always people who give it 10/10 so read their reviews. I wrote this for people who want to know the negatives to contrast other reviews, so that's why there's mostly negative stuff in this review.Everything was good but not great, it clearly missed out on things that a 10/10 manga would have but i would still recommend it. I read it all in one sitting which says something about it. If you want to read something about a girl finding her passion in life, it's certainly worth your time.

This manga is really simple. There's no drama, no cliches, no harems, no incompetent protagonist. Don't expect anything crazy going down. This is a nice easygoing romance, so if you're looking for a simple cute romance comedy, this is perfect.

Other than that, the comedy is funny. The main characters make a nice couple. Their love is cute and you want to cheer them on. Most of the characters lack personality, i don't even remember most of them. Even the main characters are underdeveloped. There's no back-story, the characters for the most part don't change throughout the series, and it skips large chunks of time. This ... manga goes over the highlights of their relationship, not every single day of their lives like in other romances.

The last complaint i got is it's really short. I would have loved it if this was 20 chapter longer. My previous complaint's are a result of this. I suppose it's simplicity is one of this manga's strength's. If you're looking for a cute uplifting romance about normal people, this is a great read.
