This is true and having a video game backlog tracking site is still a great idea.
You're the second person I talked to who mentioned having a Persona burn out. I guess since both games run on the same engine it is possible. I know I'd get burned out too.
Yeah, P4 isn't that harsh when it comes to money in the long term. Rise is still nice to have, but I wish many of her abilities came sooner. Gets half through leveling up and the other half through social links. But leveling up in P4 is fast, thankfully.
You're welcome. :) Also remember as your diligence goes up you'll earn more money from your jobs. And I might make two save files just to see the bad ending.
It is nice to get away from the mainstream gamers. I just wish I'd found my way to the SMT series and the fans sooner. ^_^

Making lists at The Backloggery is almost as addictive as MAL, though not as easy. XD
Yeah, I think that 70 hours applies only to seasoned Megami Tensei fans. I actually did try some of the original P3 at a friend's house. The story was really good, but very dark, so much so that I found myself craving the lighter tone of P4. But I will play FES "soon" but I may need another game as a buffer first.
Coming in to P3 *after* playing P4 for 80+ hours definitely ruined some of the magic of 3 for me. Although I have to admit, having your HP/SP healed right off the bat is nicer than paying the Fox. Although with every social link rank up you get with it, healing becomes cheaper. Still it's amazing that Mitsuru comes with abilities at the start of the game, where P4's support character, Rise (who's much better than Teddie), doesn't get these abilities until level 63 and up.
For the moment the only way to restore HP/MP after fights (for the main character) is to have a Persona with invigorate, regenerate or cool breeze, and to let him handle the magic stuff. Or find and equip items that restore MP/HP in battle on heavy magic users. When I was at lower levels I usually grinded until my characters were mostly dead, went home, came back the next day and repeated. XD As for money, I found that taking jobs, selling parts of shadows and doing well on exams helped. (Just remember to talk to the uncle when you can after exams. He may give you up to 50,000 yen.)
All in all, I think P4 is worth it, though I'm coming in as someone who didn't play P3 first. Oh, and as for your final verdict, if you don't know, beware, this game has a bad ending. When the month of December comes you'll have to make a series of choices that'll determine which ending you get. I advise using a walkthrough as you near the end of the game, if you aren't already. ^_^; Good luck with it!
It's always nice to talk with others playing Persona. :)

I figured there had to be a system out there similar to MAL for games. ^_^
I'm thinking the back of the box where it said the game was about 70 hours was completely wrong. A minimum of 100+ hours is more like it... I actually have Persona 3: FES but completely skipped over it in favor of 4. It's so bad that FES is still shrink wrapped-- and I bought it a year ago.
But I'm a little surprised to hear that P4 is harder than P3, I thought it was the other way around. I found that after some struggling in the start of the game (playing on normal mode) that the game itself isn't too hard, but buffs and debuffs can make or break a battle, unlike a Final Fantasy game.

Hey there. I saw your profile in the Eden of the East forums. I want to thank you for that link to The Backloggery.com in your signature-- I've been looking for something to catalog my video game backlog for ages now. :3
Also, Persona 4 is horribly long, but fun. I've been playing off and on since December. I'm just under 100 hours in and just recently got all of the playable characters. It finally feels like I'm nearing the end of the game. And maxing out social links (especially with your party members) is worth it.
