It's pretty much universal. Their R has an L+R kind of sound.

Anime helps to learn to an extent. It helps you get used to the language and how it sounds. Also helps you pick up common words and phrases. It's not good for much more than that. Definitely not a primary tool for learning, lol. Most who use it as a part of their learning tend to sound like girls when they talk, haha. I'm learning with a Kansai dialect, sounds manly.

I can speak it, sort of. Still learning. I can read/write hiragana and katakana, but my Kanji knowledge is elementary level. I know a bunch of words at least and can understand spoken Japanese to an extent. Makes being a fan easier, lol. Takes a while though.

Good to hear. Once you've seen a lot of anime, it becomes difficult to remember what you've seen, lol. The community is pretty good as well.

You should rewatch it! I'mma rewatch it one of these days as well. :) And, hmm... Yu Yu Hakusho? I watched the two at about the same time, and they gave me the same vibes. I'd love to see other similar shows to it though... do you have any in mind?

You are lucky to have it air in the afternoon! I would be able too see it then, as I work during the night until the next morning so I would miss it on TV if it does still come on late at night. LoL =D You buy a show? o.0

Never heard of Spartacus: God's of the Arena before, though we don't have cable but odds are that it would be on cable. ^_^
