Okay. I accidentally deleted my first comment before submitting it, so I'll try to say the same things but keep it shorter.
I hope you enjoy Tegami Bachi. One of my favourite series. To quote an ANN reviewer, "its one of the last great simple adventure stories." I agree, since its brilliant, beautiful, heartfelt, and true to the simple ideas and themes that it started with without adding too much complexity or change in direction. The story while simple takes some very dark turns and suggests similar moments further ahead in the series. It may start out slow, but you'll start to see the series potential. There are some especially strong moments in volume 13. The characters are likeable and while the main character may cry a bit much, he gets to be a decent character later on, even if his starting motivation is simple. Art direction is fantastic and its one of the best world concepts and creations that I have seen in entertainment. The only series that can compare to it for art direction and characters, from what I've read, is Pandora Hearts. Pandora Hearts may be a bit darker, but they're both beautiful drawn, have great characters, and have a plot that really opens up more and more the longer the series gets. Also both have amazing art in their anime adaptations and both had to finish fairly early in the series. Both are great watches, but the manga are the longer and better stories. Well I hope you enjoy Tegami Bachi-Letter Bee, maybe check out Pandora Hearts, and on one last suggestion, I recommend FMA as it's the best manga I've ever read. The perfect shounen in my opinion. Have a look at all three, read them in volume format (better translation and fantastic extras), and I look forward to your reply. Enjoy the anime and manga. It only gets better in the future of the industry.:)
