No, no. It's nothing like that. I just think the idea of angels (with wings and all) is ridiculous. I have read the synopsis of Angel Beats and I wasn't interested, so I'll leave it at that.
Yeah, I was like that with FMA too. I'd watched several episodes of the original and thought it was good. But then I decided to watch Brotherhood first, and I kind of became biased with the original. But picking up from where I last stopped with the series, the series is quite good. I wouldn't say it's as good as Brotherhood, but it is good nonetheless. And there are many aspects to the original I like more than in Brotherhood (or the manga, for the matter). And on a side note, the whole "Homunculus in the Flask" made me tired. It just seemed too far-fetched. Now, I know it's a fantastical story with magic and whatnot, but still, that part and the gateway seemed a little much. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed FMAB.
Well, I took a look at some manhwas on MAL. I heard ToG wasn't on MAL because it wasn't also published in books, but I'm pretty sure there are many webtoons that weren't released in that form too, but still made in on MAL (like Kubera, for example). However, this is mere speculation. What I think, though, is that ToG isn't allowed on MAL (and believe me, many people tried making a page for it) because it doesn't have a Wikipedia page.
Um, Noblesse is ongoing still, yes. But there're already 5 seasons complete of it. So, there are 273 chapters out so far. ToG, on the other hand, is still in its second season. There are currently only ~130 chapters, I think.
Ah. I've heard of Trace. Is it good? I'm also going to give Annarasumanara (Yes, I copied and pasted that long name) a try, since it seems quite interesting. And it's finished too.
If it doesn't have an at least half-intelligent plot, no thanks. The name itself also turns me off. "Angel" Beats. But of course, to each his own.
Really? What was this emotional trauma Winry brought in? I felt none. Speaking of FMA, do you think FMAB was better than FMA? I haven't completed FMA yet, mind you (I'm on episode 35 now, I think).
I know what you mean. When I tried to look for ToG, I barely found anything on it. I was looking for an appropriate synopsis, but all I kept getting was "What do you desire? Fortune? Glory? Power? Revenge? Or something that surpasses all others? Whatever you desire, 'that is here'. Tower of God." It annoyed the hell out of me. Oh, and ToG isn't on MAL because it wasn't published in book form (unlike Noblesse that was later on released in books too).
Noblesse is quite good. Although I prefer ToG over it. The second season of ToG really picks it up. If you want, I can give you a proper synopsis of ToG. Another thing is Noblesse already has 5 seasons, ToG only has 2 so far. I'm with you on that one; I, too, hate waiting every week or so for an update.
I don't know about that. Visual novels seem to always have music in them. Webtoons, on the other hand, seldom do (or so I noticed). And yes, I have tried VNs before. Um, I haven't played many though. I've tried Ripples, Jisei, Kansei (Haven't completed it though), and... Hmm... I don't know if you can really consider this a VN, but it was like one: 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors.
I heard Angel Beats was bad, so I never bothered to watch it.
Well, I found Winry somewhat annoying in FMAB, but she seemed fine in FMA. I just feel she's unnecessary to the story. With or without her, the story will go on just fine. LOL, this reminds me of what Ed said: "If I died, the world would still go on as if nothing happened."
Well, I've only read three manhwas. I'm following two: Noblesse and Tower of God. Here are the differences I've noticed:
- Manhwas are drawn on the computer - while manga is hand-drawn - that is why they are always so high quality.
- Manhwas are only available in a digital form, unless it has (specially) been published in book form too. Manga, on the other hand, must be scanned if you want to read it digitally.
- Manhwas seem to only come in one long strip. They are drawn in parts, but are attached into one long strip by the website for ease of reading. Since they are only available on the web, scrolling down while reading is easier than constantly paging.
- Majority of manhwas are in color (since it's digital, adding color is fairly easy); however, there are some artists that do them in black and white maybe because adding color takes extra time and can be annoying.
- There are probably other websites that host manhwas, but Naver seems to be the most popular.
- If you read the manhwas on the website they were originally posted on (e.g. Naver), there is sometimes music embedded into the manhwa. Meaning, when you reach a certain part of the manhwa, music starts to play (like at a battle scene or a dramatic scene). This is why manhwas are also commonly known as "webtoons." I've never experienced this, of course, since I can only read the translated versions. And naturally, the translators will only rip the images, since (a) it's probably too much trouble to rip the music too, and/or (b) their site where they're posting the translated version probably can't support this feature.
Btw, have you seen Air? I heard it was like Clannad.
Okay, then, what is your favorite character stereotype?
I hate tsunderes (Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate is my exception), but the character stereotype I talked about isn't always a tsundere; just a bossy and violent girl (to the MC, to some extent). For example, Winry from FMA. Most of the time these characters are tsunderes, though.
2 OVAs? Typical length for a hentai. Well, it is a hentai, after all.
Ah. Clannad... It's on my watchlist. I've heard many good things about it. I'm not sure when I'll get around watching it, though.
I don't only mean a weak-assed MC (I hate them, though), I also mean typical stereotypes. I'm so bored of stereotypes. If it's a stereotype that has some original personality traits, I'm okay with it. But the typical ones kill me. x_x By "typical" I mean the character is just a stereotype. No original traits or quirks.
One character stereotype I see a lot in shounen anime is the common bitchy/violent girl who's actually "nice" to other people. This character tends to be the heroine of the story. She'd be the one that bosses around the MC by punching him or whatever, but when she's in a troubling situation, she's too weak to defend herself and that same victim of her assaults saves her. She also may or may not be a tsundere, depending on the writer's preferences. x_x
I do enjoy drama myself; it's not my top favorite genre or anything though. Well, I assume you've seen a lot of dramatic anime. Which one touched you the most?
I'm quite the opposite when it comes to my entertainment. I'm quite picky with the things I watch/play/read. If there isn't even an at least half-decent story, I won't enjoy it. And even if there's wonderful story, shitty characters can also ruin a thing for me.
Oh, I see. I've never actually watched a hentai. It's not that I don't want to "stain" my list or anything; it's just I don't think I'll find any of my preferences in one. I'm someone who enjoys a well-written story. And according to what I've heard, Hentai tends to lack just that - a proper story line.
Speaking of preferences, what are your favorite genres for an anime?
