I use tags mostly like pools. I basically include anime that I think fit to the genre/theme. I use the resulting lists to rate and compare anime with other similar anime.
Tags
- comedy : Comedy anime. I try to only include comedy focused anime, but it's hard to do, since there are many anime with comedic undertones, and that makes it hard distinguishing what should be and what shouldn't be tagged as a comedy.
- drama : Drama anime. Now this one is a hard one. Many anime have drama, and one could say that most drama anime have their main focus elsewhere(different to how comedies are.), so selecting which ones should be at this tag is pretty hard.
- romance : Romance anime. this includes all anime that I believe have a good amount of focus on romance. I've tried to exclude most stuff I think isn't really romance, by using the romantic tag but they are still kinda mixed up there so I've split this tag into a few others. Shoujo at shoujo romance, the more shoneny-comedy focused stuff are over at rom-com, and you'll find harems kinda mix up with the rom coms, but I've tried to have them separately. yaoi and yuri also have their separate tags, but they sometimes end up on rom-com.
- shoujo romance : also includes josei stuff. They don't seem different enough to me to warrant another tag.
- rom com: Romantic comedy anime. There are many anime that have romance and comedy, but not all of them fit my image of a rom-com. Just having a comedic undertone doesn't cut it. They have to be somewhat light-hearted, with a great deal of comedy, but I'm not too strict on the romance; just having romantic elements is enough sometimes. There are anime that might fit the description above but are not included in that pool that is mostly because they feel more like something else than like a rom-com. For example, harems, drama, or really story driven anime.
- harem : as the word suggests, one guy, lot's of girls
Since there are numerous anime that have romantic themes, I've sorted them into multiple categories based on the top 3 elements.
The subcategories are:
- bro com : Bromantic comedy anime. Mostly, comedy-focused anime that revolve around the friendship of guys. The opposite of this is CGDCT.
- CGDCT : Cute Girls Doing Cute Things. Cast of almost all girls, or stuff that has mixed genders but the cute factor warrants the tag. Usually accompanied by sol.
- short series : They are usually multiple episode series with short duration episodes. However, i also add 1 episode adaptions of manga/LN/games etc, since they don't really fit in in short movies or shorts in general.

Yeah MiA really reinvigorated my enthusiasm for anime by showing me that new, amazing shows can still happen. Even if 9 out of the top 10 from this year are sequels to me, at least #1 is something new ^^.

How have you been?
There's a lot of stuff going on, but it's mostly job and family related. There's a good possibility I could be relocating elsewhere depending on how things develop, but the core thing is whether I'll be helping manage a (currently) small international corporation or going a different route. I'm excited either way since no matter how it ends up things are going to be changing a lot for me.
I've been slowly teaching myself Spanish on the side for awhile now, but that's kinda tangential to what's going on at the moment.
I've been doing quite well. I'm in a transition period for some pretty big life changes-- stuff that could determine how the next several years go for me. At this point it's more waiting to see what some other people will do before moving forward though, so I have ample free time for now. I took a break from MAL and anime for a couple months around the end of last year though.
Exciting times. I'm glad to hear you're doing well, and I hope you get your scholarship.
Oh I see. Well, if it works for you. I couldn't do it. With Ass Class in particular the second season got a 9 from me and the first one a 7 and I'd rather have it like that than average it out to an 8 for the franchise.
And that sucks but I'll probably still be here later on since I'm feeling a bit sick and will probably rest at home for most of the day.
Yeah I got really involved too and the second season was much more emotional for me than I expected. It was just a good concept executed fantastically.
