Ok so, I guess the quickest TLDR is that this is my favorite BL of all time (as well as romance overall regardless of gender) and I cannot recommend it enough. The story is insanely sweet and fluffy without being too slow paced or unrealistic, and theres a lot of minor details that really add to the manga imo.
Firstly, I need to say that I read a lot of romance, and something that really sells a good romance for me is when you can /understand/ why they fall in love beyond a surface level, and thats something I think sasamiya does so, so well (though

on some level this just comes down to writing likable characters more than anything). Its hard not to love both of them and feel giddy during the moments they have together. I'm a big fan of pining, and considering the entire first half or so of the manga is 80% Sasaki doing just that (or Miyano doing the same thing not fully realising) it just hits all the right spots for me on a personal level.
On the topic of characters, I also just really enjoy how well developed the side characters are. Of course they wont be as nuanced as the leads but they do their job well, and it just really adds to the story imo. The dialogue is very realistic, and they just act pretty much like how regular teenage boys act without there being any maliciousness present.
While this mostly applies to their classmates at the all-boys school, I honestly also really appreciate the female characters that show up as well. There arent many of them and they dont show up often, but within a genre like BL where a lot of female characters can get very heavily demonized I appreciate how sweetly characters like Kuresawa and Ogasawara's girlfriend are presented despite their main personality trait being them being a fujoshi, and same goes for Miyano's female ex-crush who gets some genuinly funny moments when she shows up without causing drama for the plot.
I probably have more to say but I guess this is the gist of it. I guess if I had anything 'negative' to say at all it'd just be that I sorta understand why this wouldnt be someones thing if you're into stories with more heavy drama/higher stakes, but thats preference. To me this is pretty much my ideal romance, and I hope I can find more like it.

It's 3am by time, but boy do i have a lot of thoughts on fairy tail.
I'm gonna make this as simple as i can.
While the plot can be incredibly cheesy, and the writings a bit of a mess sometimes, and the quality decreases after a few hundred chapters, its a really enjoyable read!
positive aspect is the characters. While not all of them are equally well written, theyre incredibly charming, and the main character, Lucy, is my number 1 favorite character of all time. ft fandom for a year or so.
The plot is interesting, and easy to follow. It takes a turn for the darker at one point, but it simply makes it more interesting for a bit, and a overall dynamic story.
Now, here's the bad part. When the writing decreases in quality, it decreases a lot. suddenly natsu is overpowered, there are demons, and while there is a lot of romance in the series, a lot of it is, well.. very badly written (lookin at gray and juvia specifically, but theres also another couple that i wont mention). at the end of ft, it has basically turned into pure shit, and all you're left with is a bunch of wasted potential due to a lazy writer.
Oh, and theres a lot of unnesecary sexualisation of women, even kids! thankfully its only during the last arc or so its prominent and actually noticable, but its still there.
Overall, its enjoyable, but the end of this manga is just a mess, and i didnt even finish it because i was tired of the stuff mashima pulled. the good outweighs the bad, despite all my complaints, but by god is the last arc shitty.

Now, its been 1.5 years since i first read this, but i still remember how throughly impressed i was with the story, and it remains my favorite work by ito.
I'm not much of a horror person, or well, outside of manga that is. i dislike jumpscares, which is one of the most common tropes nowadays, and it's just not overall my thing most of the time. This was one of the first attemps i gave at trying something new and reading a horror for real, and it blew me away.
Now going into the review properly.
Story (10):

something as simple as spirals is just amazing, and while this isn't exactly a character driven story, you still rooted for everyone until the end. The beginning is fucked up enough as it is, i wont spoil anything, just know it gets real disturbing within the first few chapters already. You think it cant get much worse, yet somehow, Junji finds new ways during each chapter to create a more fucked up story, ending the manga with a total feeling of hopelessness for the characters.
Art (8):
Its good, no one can deny that, but it's a bit too simplistic for my taste. In my opinion, there's the good old same-face-syndrom going on a lot, but aside from the character designs? its amazing
Characters (8):
They are simply not as well written as the rest of the story. They're plenty interesting to follow, it's just the best aspect of the story.
Enjoyment (10):
The most important aspect for me, enjoyment. It has some flaws but hey, so do all stories! It keeps you on the edge of your seat, mostly due to junjis unique storytelling. Its incredible, especialy considering how hard it can be to make comics/manga scary.
Definitely read it if you want something good, and kinda short to enjoy!

The story is simple; awkward girl meets a little less awkward boy and they fall in love. But the girl is so socially awkward that its just hilarious.
Seriously though, the story is great. Sawako gaining friends and learning about other people is a pretty good core, but learning about everyone and what their troubles is one of the best things here. The romance is great, I love how diverse and different each relationshipdynamic is and yet how, they all just 'clicked'. 9/10 for story.

amazing details every once in a while. All the
characters were all very diverse as well, and you could easily tell them all apart. 10/10 for the art.
OK, so we have a main cast consisting of the MC(Sawako), the loveinterest(Kazehaya), the tomboy friend(Chizu), the bitchy friend(Ayane), the one that everybody knows(Ryu), the teacher(Pin), the blonde male loverival(Kent) and the alpha bitch(Kurumi).
I really loved Sawako. She is a pretty great main character and her character development was done subletely, but it was there, and when you look back at older chapters, you really can see how much she's changed, even if not in major areas, considering what the manga is all about its pretty great.
Kazehaya is honestly hilarious. Thats just my opinion. He is not really a funny guy, he is just hilarious in some situations. His relationship with Sawako is probably my favorite thing aboyt he whole manga. I really liked him, though after chapter 60-ish he starts to act a bit weird, and it kinda bothers me.
Chizu and Ayane are both amazing, they a re so different and i love it. Chizu has her problems with Ryu and Toru while Ayane tries to learn and love herself and fall in love.
Ryu is the silent one that is forgetful and always tired. He has a close friendship with Kazehaya and Chizu and is alwayd there for them. He is the one that is always honest and who provides a lot of comic relief. I really love Ryu, as well as his relationship with everyone in the show.
Pin is just one huge-ass troll. Either he is the most annoying on the planet or he gives some really great advice that really helps everyone out. I like him though. He's funny.
Ok, so i hate Kent in the anime BUT since im reviewing the manga where he gets a lot more character development and screentime, i have to say he is way to nice for his own good. He is kinda stupid(the blonde stereotype i guess) but on the other hand, he always helps people and really means it. I love him, he is such a little sweetheart, even though he can be kinda asshole-y sometimes without meaing to.
KURUMI! She is my favorite character. She is a bitch, manipulative, confident, hardworking and ambitious, and she is just wonderful. I love her development. I love her silent support and the way she accepted things and started becoming friends with Sawako.
9/10 on characters
I enjoyed this very much and im looking forward to teh next chapter now that im finally caught up on it. I would definantly recomend Kimi ni todoke. I love it so much, its probably my favorite shojo right after OHSHC. 10/10

I read this a couple of months ago(it should be noted that i read all chapters in a day, It's addicting), and since then I have found myself rereading it more than once, even if it was just some of the chapters.
While I understand what people are saying when they give this a 2/10, because yes, in some ways it deserves that, the fact that I've even reread this I think says that its pretty damn enjoyable.

but it is of course not for everyone.
The relationship between Tsubaki and Kyota is developed very well and honestly the ACTUAL romance in this manga is some of the best I've seen. It's great, cute, sad at some parts and just overall amazing. You can see that they genuinly love each other and that its true love for them. And it's as realistic as a shojo can get.
There were some things that really made frustated though:
1. There was pretty much no development on the sidecharacters. There was also almost no appearances for them. Sure, Sakura got a bit more mature but thats only natural since this takes place over 3 years. Also Tsubakis best friend(forgot her name), she was always just kinda 'there'. Especially in comparison to characters like the-hairdresser-dude(forgot his name too), and random-love-rival-that-loves-astronomi(and hers) towards the end. It could have been a lot better if they had an bigger impact.
2. (Spoilers ahead:) Something that i always found weird and pretty unrealistic is that Tsubaki gets almost-raped 2 times. Even weirder is that both times, she just brushes it off like its nothing and even becomes friends with one of the guys that molested her. A while ago i found out that its the same mangaka that made honey x honey drops where the main character gets raped multiple times. I guess she has a thing for that.
The characters are pretty good. Some of them are horrible though and others are just kinda funny sometimes, because they do something that would have been OOC but NOPE! I dont know, the characters alright I guess. It works with the story so I don't really have anything to complain about(unless you saw point 2 about Tsubaki acting like nothing happened)
A lot of people are complimenting the art, but honestly, I really hated the way it was drawn. I loved the quality of it however and i could see there went a lot of work into it, but the style in itself i didn't like very much.
Overall, I loved it. Even with all its faults, I enjoyed it a lot. I recommend it, though it's not for everyone. I think the amount of negative reviews says that much. If you wanna read something funny and romantic and are okay with something that is definantly not a 10/10 but would rather focus on enjoyment and put analysis to the side for later, then i definantly recomend Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu for you.
