Welcome to Sarah Lynne's little bit of MAL space. It's in this little space where I yack about myself. If you want, take a gander; if not, *shrug* your choice. But I'm weird and cracked so you might get a laugh. :) This "About Me" thingie is going to be a continous work in progress and experimentation area, so if you don't like what you see, keep in mind it'll change eventually. I'm not that artsy, so I probably won't get elaborate with graphics (probably just going to be some simple piccies thrown in) but I'll see what color I can throw in here. Enjoy! XD

Some back story:
Raised all over the country, I'm part military brat (the air force side of the family). I have my mom still living and two sisters + one brother-in-law + and two demanding pooches (a Chow Chow and Chesapeake Retriever). I quibbled around in college and wasted time until my dad's death two years ago in a motorcycle accident when I did some thinking and finally decided a course. I'm now working towards my Associate's, then it's a major in History, and a Masters in Library Science, Holocaust Studies, or Museum Studies.
anime history:
I first watched anime when Scifi had those movies on really early morning, think that was back in '94(?). I was 12 watching Vampire Hunter D and Akira.... *headdesk* maybe that's why I'm warped..... Then it was Sailor Moon and Dragonball around '97... whenever it hit Cartoon Network. The clincher was Fushigi Yuugi in '98 when my little sister's friend loaned her the fansubs on VHS up to episode 39. To say that I was completely and utterly hooked was an understatement. After FY, it was a downhill slide with Gundam Wing, Rurouni Kenshi, Ai no Kusabi, Ronin Warriors..... the list continues..... Attended my first con in 2000 (Sakura Con) in Seattle and wish now I could indulge more in this aspect of the fan experience.....
What I look for and avoid in anime (to a point anyway):
Basically if something catches my interest, I'll give it a shot. I've watched something from many genres, from sports to pure comedy to romantic shoujo fluff to a couple ecchi (which I try to wipe from memory..... *shudder*). So *shrug*, if I like, I'll watch; if not, I'll drop. But here are some.....
Likes: drama, something that makes my heart bleed, sing, or shout in anger, plot, some comedy (as long as it's a part of something else), historically linked, YAOI! (fangirl moment there... please excuse), shounen-ai, supernatural themes, themes about death (don't ask please.), newer sports/genre entries with attractive character design, attractive character designs period, beautiful and haunting music, almost anything character and relationship driven
Dislikes: hentai and ecchi!! (the biggest dislike), pure comedy with no other aspect to save it, most harem-type animes, a huge amount of filler episodes, excessive panty and boob shots, pure fighting and action animes
So while I've got likes and dislikes, I've been known to deviate from time to time and give something a shot that I've disliked before. However, the above are pretty key to why I watch different animes.
Friend requests:
Definitely!!! I'm at the point at MAL right now that I'd love to get to know people and make some friends. I'll take a look at profiles and lists before oking requests, but more than likely I'll say yeah. The more people to yak with about anime and manga in my viewpoint. This may change in future, but I don't see it soon. So request away!!! ^_^
lol, sounds like we'll get along just fine then. well hey, u wana join my club? well not really my club but one I... contribute to, though it seems kinds dead these days. prob cause the main guy that made the club isn't able to be on much no more and my lazy ass is the only one that updates it these days.. but yea you should join HentajGejtan. XD
hahaha, read.. well bits and pieces of ur profile, and you seemed rather interesting so I decided to "write a comment" and see how interesting a person you really are.. that sounded weird but yea, hi and nice to meet ya!
Hey there! Yeaah I love yaoi. I wish I could see something like Sebastian and Ciel Phantomhive from Kuroshitsuji together. My favourite pairing is, although, Aki x Ueno from Sensitive Pornograph :D. About Haru wo Daiteita, I guess I have downloaded that or added to my 'Plan to Watch' list :)
Well, and D.gray-man... it's just awesome. I can't help my feelings but love that anime. And look at Allen, ahh too cute!
What are your favorite genres? Gosh I'm loving your page, I gotta have a deeeep look at it :D
Just read your Hikaru no Go review, and I have one comment.
You say that there is filler in the mid-60s. Except the two random episodes where Sai appears, it's all canon material which also happened in the manga. And while it seems filler-ish, it has its relevance in the fact that Isumi, who's just found his way back into the game, helps Hikaru get on his foot as well. While the creator(s) could have solved it otherwise indeed, I think that the way they did it created more of an emotional impact than, say, Isumi just randomly coming to Hikaru after a China trip we know nothing of.
I was never really profectinal taught how to play the Violin but I did take some clases& the teacher said I have a gift I can listen to a song once and know how to play it.Same for the guitar.
