I REALLY like this one!
The last sports anime I watched were "Fighting Spirit" & "Big Wind up". I thought that was it for my enjoyment of sports anime with a 'heart', but after picking up "Kuroko no Basuke", my faith in this genre has been restored to the utmost!
To be sure, it does have moments of athletic incredibility, but like many successful sports shonen, it does take the time to dissect each thought process and game execution for the watcher to absorb.
Not sure why it has gained the dissapproval of some anime/manga fans but that attention has given this series even more life imo.

This is an interesting anime, to say the least. An ex-Prima Ballerina, turned humaniod- motorcycle driver? Yep. Thow in a corrupt faction, intense drama, vivid animation, and some character growth, and you get "Rideback". I liked the MC and the supporting cast of this series from the beginning, they were liikable or atleast understandable in their reasons for taking action or not to take certain actions.
The freindships are felt deeply and the characters are worth investing in even in this shorter series. 8/10 all around.

As the first person to review this title, but to say the least...so far this one is disturbing. A VERY DARK AND SUFFOCATING FEELING through-out reading just vol. 1. Currently having to 'hold it' for a later read, but will make myself continue and add more details to this review.

This under-rated manga is quite enjoyable. It contains action, violence, drama, suspense, betrayal, and is thought provoking in a 'hisorically' unique way.
I didn't exactly know what I was getting into when I first picked this up - I had never heard of it and thought it would be a boring and uneventful story, with a distracting illustration style, and perhaps drag-on a bit...I WAS WRONG! It didn't waste much time to have me completely enthralled in the characters, their surroundings, the plots, and it's intellengent vision. Very well liked! |
