Welcome to my profile :3
~ About me
I'm a 24 years old otaku who loves manganime, japanese culture, music and videogames (JRPGs overall) <3 My real name is David but I've been known as "Clow" in Internet since many years ago. I live in Spain so Spanish is my mother language, but I also speak English and a little of Japanese (I'm currently studying 2nd year at Official Language School in my city). I am a Technical Computer Engineer and I work as researcher in the Málaga University in the field of Bioinformatics.
Apart from my otaku hobbies, I like sports and go out with
my lovely girlfriend and friends
to chat about manganime stuff XD. I like reading novels (in addition to japanese light novels and manga) but I don't usually have time for them T_T and I love listening to music, but I don't usually like standard music (only groups like Oasis, U2 or The Corrs are good for me) but I love j-music, I think it's a very different way to express music and make "melodies", which is what I really appreciate from music.
In the end, I'm a very active person which loves Japan culture and lives with optimism! :D
~ About my manganime preferences
I love manganime since I was a kid when I watched Dragon Ball xD But what really introduced me into this hobby were the series I watched at TV: Slayers, Rurouni Kenshin, Digimon, Yat!, and overall, Card Captor Sakura. CCS captivated me so much so I started to visit webpages and buy magazines and become eventually in what I am today ^_^
I love 90's anime but also love nowadays anime ò_ó I don't think today animes are worse, just they have evolved slighly and great works are still born: the 70% of anime is worthless fanservice and moe, but that happened as well in the 90's xD Thus, I watch new animes in their season
but usually I start them and when are near their end, I do a watching marathon XD and watch older animes I still have pending ^_^ Time is not enough for so much I want to read/watch/play!
I could say I usually enjoy all good stories with great plot and character development. I can stand actual moe if the characters are more than "the moe behavior" ^^U My favorite genres are shounen (usually only in manga, most shounen adaptations in anime sucks), mecha, shoujo/jousei with backstory, comedy and drama but I also read/watch other genres sometimes.
~ About my favorites
So far, my favorite authors are
CLAMP and my best manga ever is
Tsubasa ~RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE~, because is special to me (I run a huge TRC site since 2003,
~Crossed Destinies~) and because I enjoyed, loved, laughed and cried with every single moment of the series. I think it's the best plot ever developed, which transcends the narrative and basis of time and space in common stories. Dramatic, epic, complex and joyful, TRC is a manga everyone should read and judge by himself instead of paying attention to negative comments about the series because of its horrible anime adaptation.
Apart from CLAMP, I love
Full Metal Alchemist both manga and first anime. For me, original FMA anime was the most perfect anime ever created, probably today I would find many animation and drawing inconsistencies but the characters, plot, development, music and everything made it a unforgettable travel I will never forget ^_^ Other series I love are
Key works (specially
CLANNAD with its dramatic After Story T_T),
Evangelion,
.hack//,
Gundam,
Suzumiya Haruhi,
Darker Than Black,
Tales of adaptations, Ghibli movies, Satoshi Kon works (rest in peace Y_Y),
ef ~ a tale of the two anime adaptations,
Slayers, mangas from Arina Tanemura, etc. And of course, independent animes/movies like
Le Chevalier D'Eon,
Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo,
Chrno Crusade,
Last Exile,
Soukyuu no Fafner,
Code Geass,
Baccano!,
Cowboy Bebop,
Escaflowne and many more!
In a top 10 list, I would add:
- Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion
- Tsubasa Shunraiki
- Darker Than Black: Ryuusei no Gemini
- Sen to Chihiro
- Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo
~ About my scores
Because someone will eventually say me "you damn faggot you gave CCS a 10!".
I give scores attending to my OWN CRITERIA: "these are my scores and I f*** them as I want" xD
Usually scores are defined by a balance between how much I loved the manganime and the score should have objectively attending to the product quality. For example, I enjoyed a lot
Angel Beats! because of the backstories of the characters (Key drama is drama T_T) but I found it anticlimatic and nonsense in many parts -> 7'5 (7).
CCS was my "first special anime" and I love the characters, plot, music, animation. It's old, has fills, and what? -> 10 xD
~ About my contributions to the community
As the active otaku I am XD apart from my
TRC site and cosplaying the characters I most love, I run with my girlfriend an spanish fansub called
Friki no Fansub since 2003. Maybe the name is a little unfortunate :/ (I was part of the initial members but I didn't chose it ^^U) but I usually thinks it suits us because what we sub is what we are really fans ("frikis") of it. So then, we are specialized in
CLAMP and Tales of adaptations since our biggest fandoms are CLAMP and JRPGs :D As long as these factories produce more and more great stories *__* we will be having a lot of work XD so FnF is as active as ever.
We are indeed an small fansub but our love, perfectionism and perseverance have gave us the title of "CLAMP/Tales of related stuff
official fansub" for many people ^^
Furthermore, to spread the
divine manganime word, we run anime screenings monthly in a library (Casa del Libro) in our city, Málaga (Spain). You can be updated with the next screening session in
this webpage.
On the other hand, I work as a blogger in the
Koi-Nya community, a spanish manganime related blog community. We offer latest news, updates and reviews about otaku culture in Japan, feel free to visit us ^^
Thank so much for reading this screed (tocho para los amigos) XD I hope you found it interesting... somehow O_o
