Defense Devil

These two works are not really that related in terms of art style or theme, so I'll try my best to find some resemblances between them...

1)Both works have approximately 100 chapters
2)Both works contain action, comedy, fantasy, mystery, drama, shounen, supernatural, and romance (according to their genre labels in MAL. I didn't just make them up)
3)They have the typical shonen protagonist. Likeable male teenager that grows from extremely weak in the beginning to extremely strong in the end
4)I think most audience can find some satisfying contents in both of these works

Trace

Both works depict gritty realism that shows the dark side of the society, through sci-fi concepts(or superpower). Both manhwa are told in a multiple perspective fashion. It is done well because the mystery is slowly unraveled in a way that makes the readers to keep read on.

In my opinion, both are quite underrated.

(If you hadn't noticed that I used the term manhwa, both are done by Korean artists)

Okay, so they were both top shonen jump manga.

Do I really have to point out the similarities?

Kimi no Iru Machi

They are both drawn by the same mangaka.

Both series have a plot that involves the hero working together with the demon queen (they even use the same terms!).

Higashi no Eden

At first glance, these two anime are completely different. This may be true in terms of genres, but the main male character share astounding similarities.
Both protagonists have near unlimited amount of money to spend on their plans.
Both protagonists possess an incredible amount of charisma and can lie through their teeth to achieve their goals. The differences are that the Count (Gankutsuou) is hellbent on revenge and Takizawa (Eden) does it all with a cool, laid-back attitude.

Baccano!

Shiki

These 2 are presented in multiple perspectives. What I mean is that the point of view constantly switches between different main characters. While this method may cause audience to be less attached to a single character, the story unfolds from many angles.
Also, both are really bloody and gory (surpassed my comfort zone).

If you liked
Death Note
...then you might like
Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch

Both have similar premises in that an extremely smart high school student gains superpower and want to use it to change the world.
Whereas Lelouch in code geass is an anti-hero though, Light in Death Note is an anti-villain.

Ok, so this recommendation is already done more than 200 times. The similarities are obvious if you watch them. However, guilty crown is not just a complete ripoff of code geass. Despite its faults, guilty crown can be extremely enjoyable to watch.

If you liked
Kanon (2006)

Clannad

Well, both stories are done by the same visual novel company, Key. They are essentially set up in the same harem (1 boy and 5 girls) format. But unlike typical harem, both anime actually have plot involving these characters and the story makes sense.
