bloodlover, what is this anime background picture?

Dusk252 | 03-18-13, 4:25 AM
Hey there. Just a little heads up to the fact that I tried to explain your doubt in PMMM's episode 10 thread.

Fate/Zero was a pretty easy choice for me to put on my list. I'm a pretty big Type-Moon fan and to actually get a very competent adaptation of a franchise, Fate/, that I really like was great for me. As for why I like the series? I feel the characters are very well developed, each representing an ideal or way of life pushed to the extreme. Kotomine Kirei in particular made for a very interesting villain and his rivalry with the protagonist, Kiritsugu, made for a very good and interesting contrast.

It should be noted, though, that I probably got a lot more out of /Zero because I'd read the Fate/stay VN before hand. I think I appreciated seeing the happenings of a War that was only mentioned in passing in /Stay. Whether or not that is a "fault" is up to each particular viewer, though. I know of plenty of people who haven't read /Stay Night and still liked /Zero a lot.

Utena, though.....is fantastic and arguably my favorite series period. But, it's not for everyone. It's a very strange show, I admit and that's actually one of the reasons why I like it. It's a tough show to explain, though. For one I like Utena herself is a punch in the face of gender conventions, and makes for a strong female protagonist like Motoko from GiTS and Oscar from RoV. The use of symbolism is strong, pretty much every character is well explored, the music is superb, and the directing is phenomenal. But, again, it's not for everyone.

I should probably mention that it's sometimes called "Evangelion for girls", in that it is a shoujo that has a few similarities with that show you didn't like. But, regarding Evangelion, I too dropped the show at one point at around the 10 episodes mark. Who knows....you may gain a new appreciation for it. I suggest approaching it as a character study instead of a straight up action show. I know I enjoyed it more that way.

Lol thanks bro, Beatles ftw!
It's from a manga called "Wa!"
If you ever get intersted in manga you should give it a try.

That sounds very interesting and I love myself some surrealism.
Thank you for providing me with information.

Ok, I admit it:
Your permanent recommendations make me curious about Malice@Doll. What's so special about it?

Monad | 02-20-13, 5:42 AM
Wow! it has already been more than a year since we had that conversation? How time flies.

Haha! Glad you saw the light. Hellsing Ultimate showed things a lot better.

Btw are you anxious for the new Ghost in the Shell or are you disappointed by the changes?

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed Serial Experiments: Lain. That opening song is so hauntingly beautiful. Unfortunately, the rest of the series is completely disjointed and incomprehensible. I know it's supposed to be dreamlike, and in my younger days, whilst under the influence, I rated the series much higher. But as I've grown older my patience for this type of styled series has grown slim. It just seems sloppy to me now and hard to watch. The pacing is ridiculous and the story and it's ending unfulfilled and nihilistic.

BTW: Which movie/part where you talking about with Human Experience?

I have no idea about the member card Situation bloodlover. Hopefully rido will also read your post and shed some light on where the member card situation is. I'm guessing it's probably dead right now. But if member cards are something that you'd like to see the club start working on again.

The Club Improvements Forum would probably be the best place to ask for something like that.

ChocolateAddict | 09-03-12, 3:24 AM
Glad to hear you like you like it ;)

I... uhm... uhm... What?

Ohh!! You mean I rated it with only 5 stars? To tell the truth, i don't even know! There've been ages! I've seen Cowboy Bepop a long time ago... and I didn't use to like that type of anime... I had really different tastes by then, I guess... That wouldn't be my rate nowadays, I suppose, if I'd watch it again, And maybe I willl. 5 out of 10 is way too less for Cowboy Bepop, now that you mention it. But, well, as I said, the thing is that I didn't like it when I saw it, I guess. If that's an excuse, or something. I mean, dude, you were about to slap me: OOOOH WHAT'S THAAAAAAAT ONLY 5 TO COWBOY BEPOP? DIE!!! -hehehe, I exaggerate a lot.

However, if you're here already, I might as well salute you. I'm Ramona, nice to meet you and ...mhm, Mr. Bloodlover, I'll be sure to give a serious rewatch to Cowboy Bepop after my final exams. We must surely do something about that 5/10 thing so you won't get mad and hack my account, or something!

I don't see how Seras is equal with Misa. Seras might not have been the leading badass of Hellsing but just following Alucard around isn't making her annoying. You are calling her annoying not for the things she did but for the things she didn't do. Is not that she did annoying staff(unlike Misa who did a lot of them) it's just that you are disappointed she didn't do enough since she was a vampire(although she did kick some ass in a few scenes, if you re-watch it you will see the battler didn't actually do more. Lets not forget she ain't the main character. Is not her duty to be the biggest badass of the anime).

I think that makes her anything but the "ultimate blow" when she at least didn't heavy her position with not only being not very useful but also doing annoying staff like other anime girls do. She was just a girl having trouble accepting her new status, something that's quite normal for any human suddenly finding himself to be a creature that sucks blood. Maybe your age at the time affected you.(When we are teenagers we just want to see characters acting cool and we hate any human behavior or weakness) The "ultimate blow" is a girl that is completely useless and does a tone of annoying staff and ruining everything. And we have quite a few of them but Seras isn't one.

I don't think Haruhi was a bad example because i compared characters not anime. People are people no matter the anime they are in. If they are annoying then that's who they are no matter what anime they are in. If a guy you knew was an arrogant asshole would that change if you met him in a different place? That's his personality. He will still be an arrogant asshole.

Anyway after i saw Hellsing, Seras was not in my favorites i put her there after the movie number 7 of Hellsing Ultimate that focused on her a little.
This small trailer AMV of Hellsing Ultimate will give you an idea of differences. Don't worry it doesn't show too much.

Btw, thanks for making a proper comment in the favorite characters thread. ^_^

Monad | 01-20-12, 2:02 AM
Haha! I was quite shocked by you opinion of Sera's. Then i thought that something is wrong because certainly even if it's not a favorite she ain't THAT bad so i thought that probably you only saw Hellsing(which personally i found very mediocre) so i checked your list and surely enough that was the case.
Seras is quite more competent in Hellsing Ultimate that tells the real manga story.
Still though even if we take Hellsing alone i can get someone thinking her as not being very useful but still "the most annoying character ever" isn't a little too much?
Considering how many annoying bitches there are in anime that sounds kind of harsh. You even saw Haruhi for Christ sakes. Are you telling me Seras in Hellsing was more annoying than that annoying bitch?
