Hey dude i saw your post that you put up 2 years ago about you wanting to sink your teeth into a shounen anime with an awesome plot, emotion and action.

One piece man. From story to action and seeing their character progression is nothing short of amazing. It has the most fans and it's better than naruto which I also watch because one piece only have a 16% filler rate, they don't need fillers because their is so much going on in their eloborate story and every bit of it is interesting

The characters are all charismatic and amazing with different personalities.
The creator also has a great sense of humor it's the funniest anime aswell.

I rate it the best out of every anime i watch and i've watched

Code Geoss
Death Note
Hero of Arslan
Attack on titan
One Punch man
Hunter X hunter
Full metal alchemist
The last air bender
the last water bender

One piece is better than all of them, the plot is just so good and it keeps getting better and better please give it a try, i recommend using crunchyroll because they have all the episodes in HD.

i made an account just to send you this message i hope you really consider

Hey, I came across an old forum post you made a while back about some good shounens to just kind of watch, and I thought I'd pitch One Piece to you with some actual reasoning instead of just a recommendation.

So it's pretty clear to me that you're a big fan of Naruto, and I also agree that Hunter x Hunter is freaking amazing, but I'm gonna stick with using Naruto as a comparison since that's what you used in your forum post. One Piece is essentially very different from any other shounen I've ever watched. Oda (the mangaka) manages to expand on the stereotypical idea of a shounen expertly. He not only retains the important elements of a shounen, such as excellent battles(which I'll get into later) and gut wrenching events, but also crafts a world and story that, while it is easy to understand the goal(becoming the king of the pirates), can put you in a state of awe for weeks. Anyways, I'll start going into more detail.

First off the important stuff. The action. One of my biggest complaints of many action/battle oriented shows I watch is that the fights feel pointless. I often find myself not really convinced the fight matters even if they say the world's fate is at stake, I just get the vibe that even if they lose, everything will turn out fine anyways, and not even in an epic way. All of that said, in One Piece, every fight, apart from maybe the first one as it sets up an introduction to the show, comes with a sense of purpose and you really begin to get into it, since you learn fairly quickly that the consequences of losing aren't easily dealt with or just trained away. As for the animation of the battles, the animators have been doing a fantastic job recently, and as far as the first episodes go, it's still pretty decent everything considered.

The characters are my absolute favorite part of this show, well, maybe tied with the humongous world it all takes place in. The relationships between the characters have all of the elements you would expect from a shounen. Trust, friendship, anger at some points, but it gets deeper than that. Each individual character, even a lot of the side ones who you don't think you'll ever meet again seem to be more human, as if they're real people rather than a checklist of personality characteristics. The side characters are also important. You end up attached to characters regardless of how much of an impact they make on the overall plot, but rest assured that they do impact the plot, immensely so.

A close runner up on my list of favorite things about One Piece is the passion it makes you feel. Much like Naruto, One Piece starts off somewhat childish and cheerful, but overtime, while somehow still retaining its child-like wonder, it matures and you'll quickly find it making you feel like it's impossible for anything to make you feel the way that you are, and that you must be dreaming.

And finally, the scope of the world is HUGE. There's so much going on, even outside of the main characters, and it feels like the show is about the world the main character's are in, rather than being about just the main characters. Everything is connected from the get-go, and things that happen at the beginning will come to light HUNDREDS of episodes later, and you'll wonder why you didn't question those things before. It's somewhat humbling, and very inspiring at times.

Anyways, I recommend giving it a shot, and I'm sorry for some very poorly constructed sentences, this was more of a ramble than a review so I wasn't too concerned. Shoot me a comment if you want to talk about anything else
