:: C.C.O. Official Newsletter::
Hello everyone! How are you doing? This is C.C.O. talking 8D
Some of you are still active in the club but to those who are not, it might seem a long time since our last announcement.
Although this is surely the first time we send you a big newsletter since the mass messages have been taken off from MAL a couple of years ago.
You might probably know this already but we just wanted to be sure to inform you that our club is still alive :D
Actually, it never went inactive in the past years and we are proud to say that we are older than two years (half way to the third actually!) and we'd like you to be active again in the club, so feel free to pass by anytime if you still have interests and fun in claiming ;D
That said, let's just pass to the curious stuff:
ï We have a new main layout made by ahin, with each direct link to related claim topics and claimed list! You can visit the club to take a look!
ï The current newsletter is just an occasional one that is sent to all 1000+ members of our club.. Although, we are willing to start sending regular newsletters to members that would like to receive them, so if you'd like to receive more informations just sign up here!
ï Also, you can find a summary with useful links at the Claim Menu Navigation topic! We've made this to have more order and un-stick many claimed lists the way to leave the club some breathe. Check it out, maybe you might even find some claim who is new to your eyes ^^
ï Little memo for everyone, since more than an year now, we've introduced the Badge System, if you want a banner to be made by Staff you need to be registered in the topic! Also you can find out in the Badge Storage if you've already requested it because there's a list of every member and the link to their already made badge, as well you can see if your post may need to be fixed someway!
ï Destiny Topic finally reopened after a break and now it's having a new theme! Come to claim if you still didn't have a chance to! It'll probably stay opened until May 10th.
ï A recent new claim topic opened: Tribute Reload, it gives the opportunity to everyone who missed a previous tribute in the regular voices topic to claim a role of a Seiyuu they like as well as to claim a different role of a Seiyuu you previously liked to tribute!
ï The Category topic is still weekly as always: This week's category is Creatures!
ï C.C.O. recently hired a few new persons but we are always looking for anyone that would like to help! Here is the recruit topic if you'd like to volounteer!
ï Last, but not least, we are currently having this special game topic who needs anyone to register first, in order to get a gift later ;D

Okay, sorry for the long newsletter but it's impossible to say everything of the last two years in just a few rows! And many things have yet to come!
Have fun claiming at C.C.O.!

I don't understand what is actually good about Yu Yu Hakusho. It might be amusing or fun to watch, but in terms of quality I find it sub par to most everything. For one, there is virtually no character development through the entire series, past the first 10 episodes. Yusuke retains his delinquent and childish nature, Kuwabara his oblivious stupidity, Hiei his sharp wit and ruthless nature, and Kurama the typical Bishounen.

While they change a little through a series of years in the anime, it's never far from their roots, nor could it really be called development or maturity considering their original ages.

For the fighting aspect, it strictly follows the DBZ motto of more power (energy) being the sole focus, as opposed to a tactical and strategical form. It's rather formulaic as well in the fighting. Yusuke will use his Spirit gun against the current Big Bad of the arch, the Big Bad completely negates it. Yusuke starts pouring more and more spirit energy into his Spirit Gun, then eventually the Big Bad takes a lethal hit from it once enough energy is used.

The last arch is even worst. It introduces a huge Deus Ex Machina towards Yusuke's power: Oh he's a half demon, and related to virtually the strongest demon in existence, he was bound to get this strong anyway regardless of how his life was led.

It just takes away from any excitement in watching the series. Outside of Sensui, the antagonists were rather dull and mundane. The series itself tried to spoon feed the various "twists" and "plot devices" to the viewer as if they were unexpected or hard to understand.

Keiko was a rather typical Tsundere, (kinda), until the end of the series. The only thing it had going for the romance was that it actually showed them as a couple at the end, and when they kissed. Most Shounen series will just shy over that and not give any definitive resolution to the romance.

My main problem with Gantz, is that I don't think it even knew what it was suppose to be. At times its focus is gore, then it's pornography, then it's something like sexism. That it includes these things, isn't a bad thing, but how it focuses entirely on one, then later it switches to another. All without too much purpose.

I understand the show is suppose to approach a rather nihilistic, senseless, outlook both in life and in death. However I found some of the more extreme situations in the show to be little more than an attempt at shock value, and rather tasteless at that. I feel like if there was more transition, or a different approach to HOW those scenes were incorporated, they might give off a more significant meaning. Instead their extremism detracts from the dark, ruthless nature of the premise, and goes more into something so outlandish that the viewer detracts from any emotional investment in it.

One scene in particular comes to mind. I believe it's in the first episode, where the dog licks the woman. There's a difference between being showcasing a rather gritty, uncensored, and depraved fantasy and what it did. Instead of being horrified at its ruthless depiction of human morality and nature, I found it incredibly difficult to even take a single character seriously, let alone it's entire premise.

Kei himself, I think is an interesting concept of a character but the execution of how he came about, is rather poor. First he has not one single redeeming characteristic, not that I'm saying immoral characters make a show bad, but you have to be careful with how extreme you make them. If he had a somewhat humane part, even very small, it would have amplified the effect of seeing his completely amoral, nihilistic, and utterly depraved self. Instead all we see is that dark self of us, leaving virtually no room for growth, or inner turmoil behind his fear of death and struggle to physically survive.

Likewise, at times the show treats its viewers as if they need certain concepts explained in a dumb-downed version to understand them.

You should also note my anime ratings are extremely harsh, I'd say on average they are at least 2-3 points below most.

As for the homophobia part, I'm a bisexual transexxual woman. I've faced so much harassment, physical and emotional, and discrimination in my life that I honestly no longer really care what other people think of me so long as they can keep their negative (if so) views to themselves. For the people that can't abide that, whom, unprovoked, feel the need to express their dislike towards me because of that, well.. I do enjoy systematically destroying their arguments.

And lastly, I wouldn't call any of this an argument =P It's merely a discussion with varying points and opinions. And I enjoy intelligent discussions with other people, so any other anime you're curious why I rated low?

Which of my opinions don't you agree with? I'm not one to rage, or get upset, if any counter-argument is given in good, sensible, taste in morality, I'll attempt to understand it better.

Sorry, I honestly don't know who my avatar is of. The first time I looked at it, I completely fell in love with the picture, it just screamed "this is me". So if you ever do find out who it is, lemme know =D
