I was prepared to hate this show based on the trailer(s). How blind I was.


This show takes place in our world. In in this world we humans are helped everyday apparently, by people from a parallel world, from a organization dedicated to "charging up" depressed individuals. Why? We don't know yet. We can't see them, but a special young man encounters one of our heroines, with a baseball bat.

ECCHI. Most assuredly not for kids, or those sensitive about abuse of women.

After watching 7 episodes now, I have to say I'm almost impressed. Well animated, with few QUALITY moments. Gratiutous ecchi, as per Ditama!!!
ie: orgasm induced urination due to blunt force trauma to the head.

The characters are cute and moderately will fleshed out in the story. The mini eps of the magical girl in most every ep are hillarious and a homage to bad hentai, or good hentai, whatever that is.

The story is still developing at this point. We have meet genki girl, tsundere girl, imouto and life long freind of the male lead and a mysterious youngster.

All fairly common.We've had some expository eps *nothing earth shattering story wise* and a few eps dedicated to pure fan service. They make me giggle. Now we are moving into the "srs bznz" arc.

the Bad.
I'm not totally down with our hero beating down the 2 main female leads, Plug and Arresta, with a bat *among others*. To be fair, it sems to cause no harm, other than a minor bump and uh...post orgasmic cleanup. But, DITAMA!!!

If you like DITAMA!!!, large amounts of ecchi, an over the top plot and did I mention the skin suits? Juude-chan might be up your alley read more

Bless all of you who gave this mangu a chance, if your first exposure to HW! was the OVA. Admitedly the story starts off a bit slow for the first few volumes and finally wanders the better part of a volume before Takeshita brings in the "SRS BIZNIZ" arc.

The art early on is a bit rough and the character design a bit weak. It rapidly becomes clean and sharp, cute when need be and very detailed and a well designed epic when need be.

The characters grow and develop nicely. We see the good and bad and in-between sides of not just the leads but of the majority of the entire cast. They also have backstories that surprise and may even shock you. You may find yourself fans of the fully developed side characters! I found myself greatly enjoying the side romance stories almost as much as the fumbling of Elle and Takishita.

The story was, I'll admit, a bit rough and unfocused(except on the ecchi!) early on. The nudity and ecchi-ness may put off some as much as the later focus about humanity and our relationship with the divine and the rest of humanity

It rapidly evolves into a epic spanning heaven and earth, love and death, that may make you wonder a bit about life, eternity and the fragility of the things we hold most dear, love, family and friendship. It is a story of tragedy and redemption, the joy of finding and the agony of loss.

HW! was a manga that actually touched and moved me. I have reccomended it to all my animangu acquaintances. It is doubly a pity that it has not been picked up for distribution in North America. read more

Honestly, this OVA is an embarassment. Bad art coupled with a lame 3 episode arc from the early BORING days of the mangu do this franchise no justice. Do yourself a favor, read the manga, pretend you didnt watch this OVA or allow it to influence your opinion of Happy World!

I should be reviewing the mangu. Heh.

But, to sum up, don't judge the franchise based on this.

I tried to give this show a fair hearing. I really did. But a bigger budget, and 8 more eps to retell a rather tight story from 1996 does not a good show make.

I may have NOT given the it enough of a chance,but I find it impossible to sit down and rewatch it. The art is lovely, the character design is well done. The audio is crisp and not over laden with overly dramatic themes The pacing feels very off and the story simply wanders, perhaps a gift of the extra time to fill and I didnt give a hoot about any of the leads by the 2nd ep,a very bad sign for me. Perhaps veiwing Kashimashi has influenced my opinion of this series. read more

This is a bad show, Bad animation, bad VA, bad story, bad music arrangement, bad timing and bad episode flow. Now see here, I enjoy post-apocalyptic animu, but this show is simply bad. Bad beyond all possible infinite realms of bad. Well maybe not THAT bad, but Lord God, it wasn't good.
