City of Thieves is awesome. Thank you.

>>I've always thought it was the worst of the series
WHY????

>>I was somewhat offended
Once I was watching Tangled with my cousin, she began to talk, and I was like "shh, don't talk, we're watching awesome movie". It was just...hilarious. Because I'm 19, she's 7. omg))

Actually I never considered Adventure Time as children's. Sometimes it's so psychedelic, that I hardly understand anything)) But my children will watch it for sure!XDD

>>people dismiss manga and animation
Dunno, anime is so popular today, I don't think people ignore it. The problem is that they may underrate serious series like Cowboy Bebop, LoGh, Samurai Champloo etc.

Oh, it's an interesting topic, thanks for the link.) By the way, I remembered that dystopian genre frequently has similar patterns inside it as well. Firstly, hero (character) is the part of the regime. Then he doubts the system (by the help of another person, usually woman). Hero finds out the truth. The regime to control population rewrites history, and controls information. Finally hero go against the regime, and becomes allies with previous enemies.

Totally offtop))

Yeap, I know, in some stories a plot is rather supporting part. It can be optional in slice of life . Like in Yotsuba or Aria.
But shounen genre needs it as the air, shounen, especially fantasy cannot be built just on setting or fantasy world. Anyway not actually the pure plot matters, but rather speeches, and reactions, and emotions. Those can be interesting even in predictable story. For example, as you mentioned, Kuroko's charas are not as obvious as they seem to be at the first sight. But in Hunter you think: oh, that child probably has dark personality, and he actually does; or good guy will desire to meet bad guy in order to repay his battle-concerning debts, and he really does it in the near future.

I heard a lot about Homestuck, and surely I saw an incredible amount of its fanart. But I thought it's the flash-game. So is it comics? And when approximately it gets better?))

Also thanks for Steins Gate)) The romantic side of it was lovely)
As for new recomendation, i just watched Firefly, it has adorable characters (especially females), and many moments that make you smile like an idiot.

I'm glad to hear it! Btw, did you see this interview? Matsumoto says the story is based on his own experienxe, that makes me love him even more)) I am really interested in his works, because he somehow manages to balance reality with insanity in perfect proportions. Ping Pong is one of the best sport stories I know (film adaptation actually is awesome too). Tekkon Kinkreet I enjoyed less, anyway majority consider it as his masterpiece, but I think he improved a lot and his later works are much more amusing))

>> mostly disappointed with long-running shounen
YES. Dissappointed. Exactly. Even though I'm very patient with shounens (honestly it's because I usually enjoy adventure genre), but it so so predictable. I mean not even the plot, but the reactions and words of characters. I cannot say I'm a huge expert of Jump or shounen manga, but some stereotypes are just obvious. And characters are not lovable, not a bit actually. Firstly, meet the megane-kun, he could have been clumsy, useless character with kind heart, but he is not. He's some sort of hysterical lady. Then clever blondie could have been my favorite character there, but his lifestory is naruto style, and unfortunately he is Sasuke in that story. Finally, protagonist literally made me facepalm. His father left him in childhood, moreover he said he doesn't want to see his son ever again. Still Gon seeked to be hunter like father, and to find him, and happily be hunters together. Yep, sounds foolish. So I don't know whether to continue watching it. I no more believe people who promise the next arcs are good. Hunter X Hunter is cliched as hell. Oh yes, I forgot the main point. Antagonist of this show is pedo. Now my review is full.

I've done with all tests and essays! Finally holidays))

Thanks a lot for the links!

Forrest Gump and Tangled = pure love) Snatch was also good, though generally I don't care about Guy Ritchie's films. The problem with recommendations is that I always want to write IT IS AWESOME. JUST WATCH IT. Therefore I am very subjective and full of love when it comes to my favorites. The Apartment, Penelope and Flipped are romantic and very sweet. The Fall, One Day, Sunny, and Atonement are quite emotionally intensive and dramatic. Little Miss Sunshine, Up in the Air, The Pursuit of Happyness, District 9 are rather down-to-earth pieces. Also I found King's Speech, Blonde Venus and Ping Pong incredibly enjoyable. And well, I think you watched them (it's classics after all ^_-), but Leon and Shawshank Redemption are certainly worth mentioning.

You know, during this summer I read all the ASoIaF books, it seems that nothing can surprise me now XDD Especially in the fantasy genre. I could bear up the gore stuff, but is it really that good? Or is it becoming worse with ages?

Btw, Sunny is a very good read, it is non-cliched and nice. But I need more chapters, damn!

Edaniel | 12-16-12, 2:26 PM
And by the way is the coolest amv ever created

Edaniel | 12-16-12, 1:15 PM
Above all I want to recommend 7 Seeds. It is SO incredibly awesome. I think this is the best manga I've read in 2012 (and actually it is best post-apocalyptic story ever created). Seriously, give it a try. Though first chapters are a bit average.
Also recently I started to like Korean web-comics. Cheese in the Trap is really good. The main heroine is so realistic, and it have many non-cliche moments, especially concerning university life. Ensemble lacks drama but is very very funny.
As for anime, Kokurikozaka kara is a good light and kind story, I did not like Ponyo and Arrietty but after watching K., I still think that Ghibli is capable of producing great anime.

I have so many great films to recommend!))) Tell what are your favorites, so that I will not name them again.

I wanted to read Baccano for a long time. Does it have complicated vocabulary? Cause after the success of Durarara anime I tried to read the novel but I cannot. However it was three years ago and now my level of English significantly improved, at least I hope so :D
Oh no, Jojo is terrible. I tried both anime and manga. Lots of people say that the first two parts of manga are bad but then the situation changes. I dunno, it is hard to endure and wait for it to get better.
>> if you don't give a shit about baseball like me
well yeah, since I have zero preference of sport anime. I guess I watched it years ago, don't really remember, isn't it boring?
About Steins;Gate. Usually when I drop something I (not sure how this word sound in english - when you click forward) the last episode to know whether my choice was right. And one of the reasons of the dropping was that the last episode is still telling about stuff that happened in the first episodes. So I thought one topic will be chewed for 24 episodes - 480 minutes - 8 hours =____= Another reason was the presence of protag's harem.

And I am not really sure that I would like Berserk. I read spoilers so I kinda know what would happen next. Blondie betrays everyone, everybody dies, that girl gets mad, Gats revenges, happy end. And it is long story why I might not like it. I hate stories where "they were best friends, but the betrayal made them enemies". Secondly while watching anime everything was so obvious. I knew that blondie will seduce princess and that he is the horrific person just by looking at his creepy face. I mean just look at him. Finally I heard the author run out of ideas and current chapters are not even worth reading. So I really doubt whether I should start.

>> I dislike Rin. I know, I'm a heartless monster.
>> I can't stand Hitsugaya. So obviously I didn't like a movie about him.

You obviously don't like children, do you? Haha, just joking)) What's up? I see you have plenty of titles in the lists I did not pay attention to. Have some recs? Actually I will appreciate any recs (including books/films).

P.S. I saw in tumblr that your name is Hanna, well hello bro, same here.

WretchedWooker | 11-28-12, 1:37 AM
haha and thanks for accepting me :)

so mind intro?

Dorohedoro's absolutely charming. There are no manga similar to it. It may be a bit bloody, but its dark humor is simply priceless)
Thanks, you know luck is my last hope, because I did nothing during studying, omg.
I don't understand why studios don't buy the anime rights when manga ends. I think it would be better option instead of creating their own ending. Especially when a wide range of manga now get the second adaptations (like FMA).

Actually, its political aspect is perfect. I've never found any films or books so brilliantly describing politics. However sometimes the stories of some characters are overdone, like Reinhard's, for whom I have zero sympathy. Anyway, it is not important, and I really enjoy watching this show) What about you?
Recently I took a little break, because the episodes are saturated, and my brain needs relax for 2 weeks. When the finals end, I'd hello to my sleepless nights))

Edaniel | 01-13-12, 9:57 AM
sorry for late reply, I was re-reading Dorohedoro preparing for exams.

I'm really afraid of Uchuu Kyoudai's future. why A-1 Pictures?? why????? hate 'em! these guys are talented in deteriorating everything adaptations ;_;

I have hopes for Thermae Romae as well, Sakasama no Patema (so excited about this because of Yoshiura Yasuhiro), Sakamichi no Apollon (story about jazz sounds really nice), and probably.

haha) that's true, while you remember main characters in LoGH, you miss details about supporting ones. it's the reason why I don't delete from my PC the episodes I already watched, later I may re-watch the incomprehensible moments))
