There are far too many reasons I could go into, but in the simplest terms, terrible characters, overly dramatic voice acting, a reliance on sex to pull viewers into the story, terrible story, implausible ending, etc, etc, etc.
The only good thing about the show is the boat.

I've seen over 900, but over the course of around 28 years, so it's not that large a number considering how many the younger fans go through in one year.
