I apologize if my Japanese sounds odd. I'm still new to this.
In any case, welcome! This is ETERNAL (the underscore in my name is only there because the site isn't case sensitive and Eternal was already taken >_>), and this is my profile. Now, I don't intend on turning this into a multi-paragraph essay on who I am (though knowing me, I might end up doing that), nor do I intend on engaging in any fancy coding to make this profile look less like a wall of text, but regardless, I hope not to bore you with my ramblings.
Right now I'm a student living in Toronto with a dedicated interest in anime, backed up by my interestes in gaming, music, and creative writing. At the moment, writing is my life, and while I'm not sure exactly what I'm aiming for in the future, I don't ever plan on giving up on that dream. It sounds cheesy, but hey, it's the truth.
In terms of anime, my favourite genres are usually the male-targeted romance/drama, more often than not based off of visual novels, but I also love psychological/philosophical stories like Serial Experiments Lain and Texhnolyze, and a light dose of shoujo/slice of life. Honey and Clover still stands as quite possibly the best anime I've ever seen, because in my mind, it's romance/slice of life at its absolute best; and not even a million Key's and Makoto Shinkai's can beat that. However, I still have The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya listed as my all-time favourite because it was the show that first got me into anime; who knows, maybe I wouldn't be here right now if it weren't for Suzumiya-sama and her bizarre world-altering adventures. So for that, I give the show my respect.
Aside from anime, my other otaku-related hobbies involve visual novels, merchandise collecting, and at some point in time, blogging. I'll be sure to post a link the moment I get the place set up. On the more professional side of things, I'm one of the founding members of a doujin circle, Team N33T - we're currently working on our first doujin visual novel, entitled Sepia Tears ~midwinter's reprise~. I also hope to start my own light novel series some time, but like I always forcefully remind myself, "one step at a time."
So with all of that said, don't hesitate to comment or send random friend requests; the more people I have added, the better ^^
Thank you! Such fine words are nearly wasted on a rascal as myself, but I accept them most graciously!
Fine to see more people jump into the bloggosphere (or at least contemplate it). I'm feeling quite guilty at my extreme tardiness, so if I may be as impudent and give advice I'd say you would do well with a backlog of a few entries, for the days when inspiration is this (if these come at all). It's kind of hypocritical to suggest this, as I both intended to and was recommended to do this but failed, but there it is.
Also, always nice to see someone like Xenogears. That game somewhat interactive movie is just wonderful beyond words.
Ah, you must be a fellow FFR player. I usually don't add people at random (that inclueds to my ffr profile as well) unless I know them/have seen them around.
Impressive list you have, you have many more entries than me, but I have more time, I also DO NOT put rewatches cuz that says I've watched for more time :p
There are a lot us so the translation projects tend to cover more series and move very fast. :D For example, with the Umineko series only a patch for the first couple of chapters have been released in English, whereas patches for Episode 1 and 2 have been out in Chinese since January and May. Also Chinese anime subbers often release an episode within 24hrs of airing in Japan, and there are groups subbing rare or underrated series that have not been picked up by English groups.
The downside of all of this is that Chinese forums are harder to nagivate and use than English ones, and many translation groups keep a very low profile so it's pretty hard work trying to find working download links to any particular title. ;_;
