About me: I'm a major anime fan, and a fan of animation in general. I like manga too but I enjoy anime much more because I prefer color, sound, a better sense of movement, music, and voice acting. As you can see on my Anime List, I'm interested in all kinds of anime. I'm also interested in Japan and the Japanese language. When I'm not studying Japanese or watching anime, I work on my anime web site ( AnimeYume.com) and blog ( Mainichi Anime Yume), play video games, read, surf the web, and listen to j-pop and j-rock music. I got my B.A. in East Asian Languages & Literature.

Your post, "the allure of high school in anime" made me think about something: I feel like high school in anime is a bit idealized.
- Test scores are pretty much used for comic relief unless the character is a failure and desperately needs to pass
- Students never complain about their teachers and whether or not they're good at teaching.
- School plays and festivals, field trips and pool episodes are always plot movers. (okay, maybe not the last one)
Just some thoughts. :)
