I had watched some anime when I was young, like Robotech, Speed Racer, and Voltron. I didn't really start getting into anime until 2001 when I was laid off for about a month and a half. During this time of not sleeping and looking for a new job I refound anime. Over the next couple of years I watched whatever was on cartoon network, plus a few rented videos and a couple manga. After going to Tokyo for the first time on business, I started seeking out more anime. I had learned a little Japanese and tried my first subtitled anime. I went to Japan a second time about a year and a after later, for two weeks this time instead of one. On my second trip I got to see more of Japan than just Tokyo. I got up to Sendai, Morioka, and Omiya. I have learned more Japanese, but I am now quite conversant yet (it is a difficult language). I now watching anime and reading manga every day. I watch my anime sub-titled almost exclusively. I really like fan translated anime that has not yet been licensed.
