I'm not very far into this (5 episodes), and I'm not really sure if I will continue with it. After the first episode I was rather "blah" over the whole thing. Honestly, the only reason I continued watching was because Greg Ayres (Goku) and Illich Guardiola (Gojyo) are VA's in it. The art is not to my liking. While there's nothing particular bad about it, it's also nothing spectacular. The demon trio are actually drawn fairly well, but why does the human priest look so awkward? Style wise he just doesn't seem to fit, and it bothers me. While the characters are really good- especially the three demons- the storyline just is rather so so. I do like the fact that it's a story born of an old Chinese legend. And the premise of it does in fact seem very cool. I just quite honestly do not know of what to make of it. If I DO decide to continue on with it, it will most likely be because of the aformentioned VA's. read more

This is an amazing manga and one of my favorites by far. It has great characters with unique/strong personalities, and the author is wonderful in playing all of them off each other. The plot is great, and follows major events in the Shinsengumi's history, while leaving room for original story. The historical information can be bothersome to some, but for me I really enjoy it since I like learning more about the Shinsengumi. My only complaint is Viz is not releasing the English volumes quick enough- vol 30 is out in Japan, yet we JUST got vol 19 in late 2011.
