It's alright.

HatandClogs | 08-28-14, 9:18 AM
lol I think we both remembered anime is a thing that exists at exactly the same time.

They weren't too bad! Just finished Thursday and got back yesterday (we stayed for my sister-in-law's graduation which was fun (well, sans the actual ceremony) but exhausting). Maybe I'll even watch some animus, who knows? I really meant to stay on the Haikyuu train but I think some big stuff was happening in my life around that time and I forgot about volleyball greatness.

Are you a girl?

HatandClogs | 04-12-14, 12:17 AM
I have a few friends who're in the process of finishing Kuroko and I convinced them that we needed to watch Haikyuu, which was super awesome.

Yeah, Ultimate's definitely an alright show I assume would be totally up your alley since you're so into Black Lagoon already that I assume the fairly static action wouldn't be an issue for you. I should warn you that it's probably the most violent thing I've seen? idk if it would bother you but I guess it would be nice for everyone to be informed that there's a part where you see a vampire chomping on a dead baby, which was fairly shocking and gross.

Aside from the "everyone's stuck in a video game D :" part of Log Horizon, it's not really anything like SAO at all. SAO was all about having very tense survival parts and making everything have big consequences and WE HAVE TO GET OUT OF THE GAME and it felt a lot like a fantasy anime that used video games as a skin. Log Horizon a lot more about "welp, we're here now so what're we gonna do" and it's really neat and I really like all the characters and it's just really fun and I have too much fun watching it. It got me playing FF7 which I'm now almost done with and is a really fun game.

That's interesting that you get that from Break Blade, because I totally didn't get any of that feel but my experience with RPGs with that era is pretty much entirely limited to FF6 (everyone has been nagging me to play Chrono Trigger since I made friends at college though), so I remember mostly being interested in the fantasy parts and then details like troop numbers and things, which were like very tasty treats I got for dealing with the rest of it (she's 12 and has huge boobs, isn't that ~hilarious~?)

What about Nadesico makes you think I'll like it so much in particular?

It's alright. The action reminds me of Black Lagoon a lot, but with more crazy supepowers (but a similar lack of choreography, Ando has spoiled me so much) and it's pretty freaking crazy (Nazis show up by episode four I think? and now it's a crazy vampire Nazi invasion of London) and has the most hilarious depiction of relations between the Catholic and Protestant churches. The animations alright I guess but it's nothing particularly exciting or woah, no like crazy well-animated sequences and there's a lot of CGI. I'm having fun watching with a friend whose pretty new to anime (this is his third after Black Lagoon and the Mass Effect movie, and I just got him to watch Baccano!) but otherwise I dunno if I'd keep watching it. tbh, maybe I'm a bad person because of this but I really like Log Horizon a lot more, in a legitimate and not "oh it's fantasy so I'll like it" way.

Kaiji is alright so far. I'm not as into it as I expected to be and since, as far as I can see, I just finished the first arc, I was thinking about putting it on hold, but I haven't decided yet.

On the one hand, since it's just been the first arc, I don't really know what to expect next and want to give it a chance. On the other hand though, it's been 9 episodes which is a lot and should be enough for a show to grab a person if it's going to.

I loved it. :D I mean, there was certainly a bit too much fanservice (and Ragyo's... well, you know) throughout the series for my taste :P , but oh my gosh did I enjoy it regardless. :D Plus, as I mentioned on my post on CAA today about it, I couldn't be happier with that ending! :)

MangaRocks | 02-22-14, 9:05 AM
*Looks back at my previous comment* ...Well, all that said, though, like I mentioned in the announcement post on CAA, I know that I'm still going to watch it regardless, LOL (helpless fan here)... (^_^;) So I do *hope* it's good. :)

Anyway :) -- finally finished the two side-series. I really like how these served to flesh out both a few previously-referenced events as well as a whole bunch of backstory ( + even *more* character development-- which I didn't realize was even possible at this point, LOL! :) ) on certain characters. :) They were really great additions to the saga, and I quite enjoyed them. (Oh, and it was neat how the end of the second side-series kinda makes you want to go rewatch the entire original series/etc. all over again, too... :) )

Thanks once again for this recommendation, Doc!!

MangaRocks | 02-12-14, 11:12 AM
Well, I was going to wait to comment again until I finished the two LOGH side-series (watching the second one now! :) ), but then THIS happened.

...I mean, if it's more side-stories, then by all means, bring it on. If it's a complete redo, however... DO NOT WANT, because I have no idea how it could be made any better than it already was, and can imagine so many ways it could instead be worse... :/

HatandClogs | 01-26-14, 4:18 PM
fyi, I am still watching anime, it's just been Baccano! and as of today Eva with my engineering bros so nothing to update on MAL. Still carrying the torch, though, and I think I -might- have sold a couple of them on JoJo.

MangaRocks | 01-22-14, 11:35 AM
And I'm back! :) Wow, I really enjoyed the My Conquest Is The Sea Of Stars and Overture To A New War movies. It was great to see certain people again; all of the new, extra characterization (especially in the latter film) was excellent; and I was both pleasantly surprised and also quite impressed by how Overture somehow took my two least-favorite episodes of the original series and actually turned them into one of my favorite parts! O.O :)

MangaRocks | 01-17-14, 12:30 AM
And the last 10 episodes! (...Well, of the *main* series, LOL-- I do still have the two {good ;) } movies and the two side-series to go yet, now... :) ) Anyway:

That was amazing. Thank you very much for recommending this to me!! :) (And I'll go ahead and keep commenting on the movies and side-stories as I watch them, too. :) )
