When I start, I don't stop.
Sorry, I could not resist. You know, with the username and all. Anyway my name is Saif (rhymes with laugh) and I am an 18 year old male who loves to watch anime. Other things I enjoy include but are not limited to: reading, gaming , listening to music (almost any genre as long as the song is good), you get the point. If you want to discuss an anime-or really talk about anything for that matter-feel free to send me a request.
Now, to talk a little bit more about anime (it is the general purpose of the site after all). The first anime I ever saw was Dragonball. Shortly after that, Naruto. From ages about 9-15, these were the only anime I every really watched and got into. I do not know why, I just stuck to these (mostly Naruto, and it was and is being published). One day a friend then introduced me to FMAB and Code Geass. I was skeptical at first, and did not end up even watching them until a couple of weeks later. And I was sure as hell glad I did. I loved these anime, and have fallen in love with several more thereafter. I learned one lesson from this: never judge an anime before I have seen it. No matter how badly it has been criticized or how ridiculous the synopsis may seen. This; however, does not mean I go around watching anime proclaimed to be bad. I usually have to receive a recommendation or see something from the show that gets me to want to watch it. If you have an anime that you love, and it is not very well rated or praised, I will try it out, and I could tell you how I feel if you wish.
I would now like to elaborate upon the number ranking system in this site. Although I may not prefer this system (I will explain here in a bit, do not worry), I am grateful for it because it allows me to have a slight understanding of a show's quality before I decide to watch it. The system has led me to watch many anime I might have not watched before if not for the ranking system, so I am grateful. Okay, here is what I do not like. Pertaining to the general ranking of anime and ranking them myself, I do not enjoy this system for a number of reasons. Essentially, for me to be even slightly content with ranking shows through numbers, I would have to contemplate the ratings for hours on end and devise a way I could use to rank each anime I have seen accordingly. I also have not seen very many anime, so I do not feel I could rate the ones I have seen on a 1-10 basis. For example, say I rate a show with a 10. I might come across a show that I think is even better, or far surpasses the show I previously ranked as a 10. This would mean I would not have to only change the ranking for that show, but for every other show I have ranked as well. These are a few of the main reasons I do not like this system. Overall, I really do not think some of the amazing anime I have watched can be rated with numbers, unless they are analyzed extremely well first. It is a little hard to explain it, and I would rather do it in a conversation in which I could speak with the person I am explaining it to, but unfortunately, that cannot be the case. What I am basically saying is do not take make ratings to heart, and if you do so, do only in the slightest. If you want my opinion on something, send me a message or make a comment on my profile. I would be happy to tell you.
One more thing about my anime preferences. I only watch sub, not dub. I dislike dub for a variety of reasons, and have not found a dubbed version of an anime that has surpassed the original subbed version. I do not believe this to be an opinion, I believe it is a fact that the subbed versions are better. If you wish, I would be happy to debate with you. Maybe you could slightly change my mind (but I doubt it).
Well, those are a few things about me and my profile. As I said before, feel free to hit me up anytime. And please, help yourself to my profile (including my lists and all that stuff).
